    I lived in Brooklyn Heights and I would use the A train, airtran combo all the time. Never had a single issue and I travelled at all times of the day and night. Sooo much easier, and cheaper, than uber or a cab.
    Great informative video.

      to avoid the $5 passenger fee of going into the AirTrain @ Howard Beach, take the Lefferts-bound A train to the last stop Lefferts Blvd, and connect there for an MTA bus called the (Q10) which then goes from that subway station, and then runs straight down Lefferts Blvd into JFK Airport. The exit for the Q10 bus to JFK is located at the front-end of the station (bus stop for JFK is on the southwest corner of Lefferts Blvd-Liberty Av directly across from the Popeyes Chicken Restaurant). If each person has their same separate metrocards from the subway, and uses them onboard the bus as a transfer within 2 hours of paying the full $2.75, each transfer is free because the transfers are included in the $2.75 that each passenger paid when entering the subway. If each person is using the 7-day or 30-day unlimited ride pass, this route should be used because the unlimited ride pass does not work going into the AirTrain @ Howard Beach, but it does work onboard all local & *LIMITED*/skip-stop MTA buses, so you'd actually be taking advantage of the unlimited ride pass instead of having to refill each metrocard with $5, or one metrocard with an extra $10+ to enter for the AirTrain @ Howard Beach.
      Bus to JFK/Lefferts Blvd-AirTrain station for the AirTrain to terminals (1, 2, 4, 7, or 8):
      Take only JFK-bound Q10 LIMITED which takes about 8 minutes from Liberty Av (via Lefferts); do not board the regular/local Q10 to JFK because that bus does not connect to the JFK/Lefferts Blvd-AirTrain station. Since the Q10 LIMITED connects to the AirTrain within JFK, anyone can board the AirTrain at the station also for free, just walk into the station without needing your metrocards to enter, and go right up to the platform to wait for the AirTrain.
      If flying with JetBlue, or with the other four airlines that depart out of terminal 5 (Aer Lingus/TAP Portugal/Hawaiian/or Cape Air), no need to use the AirTrain since the last stop for both buses drop-off directly at terminal 5!!! Take either JFK-bound Q10 or Q10 *LIMITED*, Q10 takes 25-30 minutes, to save time going to terminal 5; use the Q10 LIMITED since that takes just over 15 minutes.

      rich, if you're close to the Clark St, or Borough Hall stations, you can also take the 3 train to New Lots Av, then use your free transfers onboard the B15 bus to JFK which is a 15-20 minute bus ride from New Lots/Ashford St & then drops off for the AirTrain @ Lefferts Blvd, or if your flight is departing directly out of terminal 5, stay on the B15 bus to the last stop which is terminal 5 & you'll not need to use the AirTrain!

      you won't believe this, but there is a cheap route to JFK with the A train costing only $2.75, but this also doesn't require you to pay for the AirTrain & also not going to Howard Beach. If you take the Lefferts-bound A train to the last stop (Lefferts Blvd), you could then transfer there for the Q10 bus which then is an 8-minute ride into JFK & drops off at the Lefferts-AirTrain station, or the last stop inside of JFK which is terminal 5. Since the bus takes the same metrocard, you can use it onboard as a free transfer without refilling prior to boarding. Be aware, there're two different Q10's that go into JFK; the Q10 & as well as the Q10 *LIMITED*, for the Lefferts-AirTrain station, only board the Q10 *LIMITED*. For the Lefferts-AirTrain station, you don't need your metrocard to get into the AirTrain; just walk-in, and it's also a free ride from there to any terminal (except terminal 5). If your airline/flight is departing out of terminal 5 only, take the Q10 or Q10 *LIMITED* directly to the last stop (terminal 5) which then means you do not need the AirTrain.

      @@darvintorres149 yup, you can also take the E or F train for the Q10 bus to JFK @ Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike which is two-three stops before Sutphin-Archer, the exit for the Q10 to JFK is towards the front-end of the station @ Queens Blvd-80th Road & the bus stop is around the corner on Kew Gardens Road-80th Road. If you take the Q10 *LIMITED* to the Lefferts-AirTrain station, it's about a 25-minute bus ride from Kew Gardens, and if going directly to terminal 5, it's just over 30 minutes, and in-fact; the Q10 to JFK starts from the Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike station @ Kew Gardens Road-80th Road

    • @tjrtt

      You have to purchase a $5 metro card or just load $5 on your metro card if you have one to enter or leave the airport.

    • @danpowers3775
      @danpowers3775 5 років тому +2

      @Jan Lievense if you're coming from the city & going back to JFK, unlimited rides are accepted in the subway and onboard MTA local/limited buses, but are not accepted for entering the AirTrain @ Howard Beach or Jamaica. What is advisable, and I've done this before; buy/put a 7-day unlimited rides on each metrocard (6 days) before going back to JFK so that the day of when you're going back to JFK, that is the last day (Day 7 of 7) you can use the unlimited rides to its full advantage.
      Depending on which train route you're closer to starting from & getting off at, take the Lefferts-bound A train to Lefferts Blvd-Liberty Av, you can also take the E or F trains depending on which part of midtown Manhattan you're closer at (6th Av F line, or 8th Av E line) to Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike in Queens, no matter which station you get off at (Lefferts Blvd-Liberty Av or Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike); use each of the unlimited rides onboard the Q10 bus to JFK, there are signs at both subway stations that are marked and direct you for the "Q10 to JFK Airport", as well the New Yorkers who know of the Q10 to JFK who can direct you as well. Board the specific Q10 from either bus stop that says *LIMITED* which then runs straight down Lefferts Blvd, and goes to the Lefferts Blvd-AirTrain station within JFK.
      All passengers can board the AirTrain within JFK at that exact location free of charge without needing a metrocard to enter the station, there are screens on the platform at the Lefferts Blvd-AirTrain station above the train platform doors which shows the departing flights, when you're ready just get on the AirTrain and go to your terminal (*This excludes those passengers that have flights with jetBlue, Aer Lingus, TAP Air Portugal, Hawaiian and Cape Air departing out of terminal 5 only*). If your flight is departing out of terminal 5 only, no AirTrain is required; use the unlimited rides onboard the Q10 *LIMITED* from either location (Lefferts Blvd-Liberty Av or Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike), then stay on the bus to the last stop with JFK Airport which drops off right at terminal 5!!!! I'd say to leave just above 4 hours before the flight takes off so you'll have enough time to check-in.

    • @danpowers3775
      @danpowers3775 5 років тому +2

      @Jan Lievense correct unlimited's do not work for AirTrain, so next time whichever station you go to (Lefferts-bound A train to Lefferts Blvd, or E/F trains to Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike), use the unlimited rides onboard the Q10 *LIMITED* bus, then take that to the Lefferts Blvd-AirTrain Station within JFK, and then you can board the AirTrain free of charge, or stay on the bus to the last stop (terminal 5) if your flight departs from that terminal only. These other subway/bus to AirTrain combos work with two other routes for JFK; 3 train to New Lots Av/Ashford, or L train to New Lots Av/Van Sinderen; both stations you can transfer for the B15 bus to JFK which then goes to the AirTrain @ Lefferts Blvd, and also the last stop (terminal 5).

      About 10 minutes from JFK to Jamica station queens, on the air train. Then it’s about 20-25 minutes on the rail Train from Jamaica station to Penn Station - Manhattan. Including transfers and waiting for a train, can take anywhere from 40 min to an hour.

  • @F-Zoli

    Does it go only one direction? So if I want to go from T2 to T1, I need to go around?
    If I take the airtrain, do I need to go through the security again?
    If I walked between terminals that would make sense to go through security again.

    • @tjrtt
      @tjrtt 6 років тому +3

      The Airtrain that circles the airport and never leaves the airport travels in the opposite direction to those that goes outside the airport. Yes, you would need to pass through security again as JFK has separate terminal building that are not connected.
