- Heading to New York City and nervous about getting from JFK Airport to Midtown Manhattan on public transit?
As an ex-New Yorker, I've taken NYC public transit a ton, meaning I'm a bit of an expert.
Come with me as I land at JFK, make my way through baggage claim to the Airtrain, buy a metro ticket, and finally head into the subway to hop a train to my hotel in Times Square.
For written instructions to use during your journey, head to my article outlining everything you need to know to get from JFK into Manhattan!

Thank you , much needed information great video
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I’m so happy you found it helpful!
Nice video thank you
Thank you too
Thank you
Of course! ❤️
Wow so beautiful 👌
🤘🤘🤘
Do i have to pay for each companion that is traveling with me in the airtrain? Or can i just pay the 8.75$ for two people
Yes, everyone needs to pay to ride the train.
Is the AirTrain free? It is from Newark APO to the NJ Transit stop. Thanks!
This video is for JFK to Manhattan. That AirTrain is $8.25 on top of your subway or railroad fare - at Newark Airport you just have to hop on NJ Transit it’s about $16 a person I think
😍😍😍😍😍
If traveling with around a 20kg luggage, and hand luggage, is a taxi the best option for me
If it were me traveling with that much, I’d say it’s worth it, especially if it’s after a long-haul flight. If it’s after a short flight, or I’m on a budget then I’d prob take public transit (just make sure to use the elevators to avoid having to carry your bags up and down the steps)
@@allytravels long haul from UK 👍
@@johnnybhoy9578oh yeah, then def treat yourself to a car ride (just double check traffic to make sure there’s no delays)
Oh my gosh🤭
Take an E subway may be a suitable ride during daytime. Typically you don't want to take the subway at 2 am due to weird people around. A subway ride I don't think proper when the cars are packed. A LIRR ride is better service; no strange people, an overhead rack for your luggage is always there.
Timing is definitely something to consider when planning your journey!
@@allytravels I have seen too many people taking subway with luggage that they have to have the luggage going over the turnstiles while they can just first slide the luggage under the bar before swiping the Metrocard for yourself 🤔
E train goes to forest hills and kew gardens, which are some of the richest neighborhoods in New York.
Of course, if you have lots of luggage that is a different story.
@@darbas57 The Jamaica area like the Sutphin-JFK and The Van Wyck is the opposite especially between 11 pm and 5 am that there may be some questionable individuals roaming around
@@arjosoekardan5906 I've been doing it for more than 40 years. I never had any problems. Besides, you will see many people with suitcases 😀. I am not the only one who travels this way.
Worst connection from international airport to the city. Only taxi can help. But it's expensive
Sounds like you had a bad experience. It’s def not the easiest, but it’s way more affordable than a cab, and compared to other places I’ve traveled, it’s not the worst 🤷♀️
Hi 👋
This was more like a ride along not a how to. Your directions were not clear at all. Just saying.
Thanks for watching - everyone needs a different level of detail - There’s lovely more specific written directions in the description and also link to even more detailed directions for those requiring a little extra 😉
I came here looking for instructions, not a million questions. Please talk without a rising inflection every 4 words and I'll be able to appreciate what you're saying.
I’ve got a great link to written instructions in the description. Sounds like it could be useful for you 😉
