- How to do a press up handstand. Training tips and exercises.
WOULDN'T IT BE AWESOME TO BE ABLE TO FLOAT UP INTO A HANDSTAND?
You don't have to have to have a solid handstand to start working on your press-up handstand! The drills and training exercises covered in this tutorial are for everyone! Those of you with an amazing handstand and ready to level up to that seemingly mythical press up this is for you! These are also great core exercises for those of you just looking to get stronger but not ready for the full handstand part.
I love all things handbalancing because you can work on them anywhere and anytime! No equipment needed!

I practiced soo looooong for this
I watched literally every video but never got my legs higher than 20cm above the floor
I watched how you do it
And today I made it 🤸🏼♀️🤩
Yassssss!!!! I am doing a happy dance for you Nina! That is awesome! Please share your progress, I would love to see!
@@Elizabeth_BFit aww thank you sooo much ❤🌹
I'm still working on it. Today I just couldn't get it but I will get better 🤸🏼♀️
Same
Of all the press handstand videos I saw on UA-cam, I think you're the closest to perfection. What a beautiful posture!
Thank you so much. That really means a lot to me. If you have any requests for future tutorials please let me know.
@@Elizabeth_BFit Respect from russian press handstander ;D
You are great! I mean both technique and tutorial ))
This is beyond helpful! I've struggled with this for YEARS. Thank you so so much for sharing all of your knowledge!!!! :-D
You are so welcome Punky H. Please share your progress!!!
I just found your channel and I'm obsessed! There's so many pole tutorials out there, but so few instructors have the technical knowledge to be able to properly explain correct form and conditioning. I love what you share and how you share it. Thanks for making these videos!
Wow, thank you so much! I'm so happy you've found my channel and I really appreciate you taking the time to share that feedback with me. Thank you!
Your videos are fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome! Any requests for future tutorials?
This is awesome, thanks, EB!
My pleasure! So glad you enjoyed it!
This is a fantastic tutorial for training presses. A lot of videos I have seen don't give as much credit to the amount of work that goes into training the compression. The compression and training your wrists and shoulders for going over and taking the weight, in my opinion is definitely the most difficult. Thank you for such a great video!!!
My pleasure. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your feedback. Much appreciated.
Excellent Tutorial I learned a lot of what it takes to build up to the perfect Handstand press even if it's not your forte you teach it well. Thank you...
Thank you Steve-o. I love sharing the training tips and tricks that have helped me.
BEST press video I have seen so far! My go to reference for learning a press. Right now, mainly working on my foward fold, wrist, and back flexibility which seems to be holding me back just a bit for trying a press. Thank you so much for sharing with us!!
Thank you Kayla ❤️ Best of luck to you in your training!
@@Elizabeth_BFit thank you and you're very welcome!!
I love watching press handstand. It's really beautiful.

Very informative video. Thank you so much!

Great video! really helpful.
So happy to hear that! How's your press handstand coming along?
Absolutely Fantastic
Thank you Moses 🙏🏼
This is such an amazingly helpful channel, thank you so much! Your explanations are always super clear (even if I can't follow the first time through haha) and every once in a while I see a glimpse of a goofier personality come through the teaching persona for a moment and it makes me smile :) Anyway I'm working on a lot of pole moves at the moment and your videos have been some of the most clear and helpful.
So happy to hear you are enjoying my tutorials!!!
Thankyou its a very instructional and esthetic video, best i've seen , am starting right away

A truly professional excellent tutorial ! Bravo !
Glad you liked it!
Cool. Very helpful.
Happy to hear that. Best of luck to you in your training!
This looks great! I can almost do a full standing ab-wheel rollout. This looks like a great additional exercise that will help my ATP! My low back doesn't like to curl like urs does.
Definitely add these exercises into your training. Learning to articulate the motion of the low back takes time and training but learning new skills is part of the journey.
Excellent tutorial! Thank you so much. Subscribed
So glad you enjoyed it!
i only know this came in from teaching yoga for years...but your form is awesome. had to subscribe! keep it up
Thank you 🙏🏼
Wonderfull! I like it. Thanks for your job
Thank you 🙏🏼
Nice!
Thanks!
This is an excellent tutorial, difficult and complex things summarise in 3 major excercises. I am practicing hand stand at my 62 years old, and have been looking many tutorials. This tutorial motivated me greatly, thank you. Hopefully I can make good progress.
So glad you enjoyed it! Consistency in working thru the exercises is key. You got this!
Awesomeness
Thank you
So cool
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
great job!!!! :)
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you for this video!! Going to do a 30 day handstand challenge!! 💖
Yaaaassssss! Keep me posted on how it goes!
Tq so much. I've been doing resistance training for a while now and wanted to learn new skill and tricks along the way. I've seen so many tutorials and the only thing I could do is lift my leg. I tried kicking my leg but couldn't 😂😅and watching your video I now understand. The leg hovering tip is so helpful. I'm gonna start training and hopefully able to do handstand soon. Tq❤️🙏
Yayyyyy! So happy to hear this tutorial was helpful for you! Keep me posted on your progress. Would love to hear how your training progresses!
Thank you so much ❤️ this tutorial really motivates me to work on it❤️❤️❤️❤️🙃
Yaaasssss!! Keep me posted how your progress goes!
@@Elizabeth_BFit ok but for now I am not too good in it.
Really professional and insightful. I feel like I missed my window - I'm 50. I've got decent handstands on grips, but now I need a mat that's that much higher. I play with some of this - obviously it's a progression. I'll go play with some of it = I"d love to just do a full tuck press to handstand. At any rate, if I incorporate some regular yoga and this and take it easy - I won't hurt myself, I'll have fun, and be stronger, more flexible, and injury free than I would without. 'Course it would be amazing to get there!
You absolutely did NOT miss your window! Age is just a number. I'm 39 and only developed a solid press handstand within the last couple years. My boyfriend is 51 and only learned how to press within the last few years as well. You got this!!
@@Elizabeth_BFit Thanks - I've been playing with it - tucking up, just hanging out with my tip toes on the floor. Nice - that's impressive to learn it at 51!
Awesome as always! Thanks!
Do you have any tutorials for dismounting from pole into handstands? For example Crucifix into Handstand, or Leg-hang to One-Handed Handstand 😊
Thank you Diane. You are so welcome. I actually have a tutorial on a crucifix to handstand that I just filmed this week but haven't posted yet. Stay tuned! 😉
@@Elizabeth_BFit 😍 I'm beyond excited! 😍

Perfect
Thanks, I appreciated your instruction and delivery. Where do you get those sliders from and what are they called?
You are welcome! Thank you for watching. There is a link for the sliders in the description below the video.
awesome tutorial! love it! should I add these exercises at the end of my training session or start? is it OK to do these exercises everyday?
A friend of mine did these types of exercises for 30 days and went from hardly being able to do a hand stand to getting up to one naturally and holding it. If you already have a good practice adding this into your practice daily will see some great results
@@jamesbell9863 cheers james, im on day 03 and I see good progress - hopefully i keep going without distractions and change in plans :-) because there so many way of learning a press to handstand but this seems to be a way i can relate to.
Yes, you can do them everyday. But always listen to your body if it needs a day of rest because each body varies as to the amount of training it can handle. Whether every day or every other day, consistency is key in learning your press.
I'm a little time challenged, so I skipped to the good parts. It still happened to be quite an informative and edifying experience. I'm learning about this for a friend.
Hope it was helpful.
Elizabeth Blanchard yes it was. You have legs that go allll the way up to your #*%. You’re awesome. It makes me want to get back into p90x.
Yaasssss do it!! And while you’re at it start adding in some of those press handstand prep drills!
@@Elizabeth_BFit Oh hellll no! I clicked on this because of the aesthetically pleasing female body. I do like it when I'm in the workout zone and diving into athleticism. Doing handstand pushups, ok. Doing handstand splits?? Aw hell no! I can appreciate yin / yang balance considerations, but mmmm ehhh. I do like watching you do it.
@@michaelbeary fair enough...although you do know that press handstands don't have to be in the splits right? You can pike, you can tuck as well...just sayin'. 😉
Dear God. Thank you.
The video is so helpful, thank you! Do you please have a link for the song at the end? I'll use it as my motivation during training.
I'm sorry but I don't know the name of the song. I am terrible with remembering music names.😩
Thank you so much for this video! It’s great, I’d say my handstands are good and balance has got loads better:) definitely gonna work on these. Also started on handcanes, don’t suppose you know of any tutorials on them? I have bendy Kate’s book but it’s not the same as being shown xx
That's fantastic! I don't currently have a tutorial that is specifically about canes but that is a great idea and I'll add it to my list for the future. I do have a couple tutorials that incorporate canes. Working on crocs on canes is a great place to start. ua-cam.com/video/vUGFvQzVdz8/v-deo.html
Elizabeth Blanchard Ive already seen your other vids with hand canes :) I’ve learnt a few bits on my own but would love to see more on them, when you look it up, there’s ether really advanced people or beginners training, nothing instructional that I’ve seen. I managed to get up on the canes by kicking up first time the other day, hopefully will happen everytime soon lol just getting used to it xx
@@BendylifeUk That is a fantastic request. I'll add that to my list for a future tutorial.
great video and incredible compression strength. I can press but have problems half way up....my back tends to flatten out and then my handstand gets squirrely , are you in a posterior tilt when you get to the straddle position?
At the top of the straddle the goal is to be in as neutral of a pelvic tilt as possible unless you're going for a more contortion style handstand. If you would like additional coaching on your press I do online training sessions.
you are so beautiful and an amazing athlete
your body is so wooooooooooooooooooooow
Thank you!
The thumb nail got my attention as i'm a guy but then you started talking and I was very impressed. Great knowledge and very impressive body control, what is your background ?
Thank you. I am a Kinesiologist so geeking out on body movements, anatomy and mechanics is my passion.
@@Elizabeth_BFit It shows in you content, vert impressive. Also you have an amazing v sit, can you do a manna or is that not something you trained?
Hello this is very useful and detailed video. Thank you. A question if I may, I’m finding it quite difficult to get a stack and my hips don’t want to go up high enough without planching. Would you suggest just keep using a box? Many thanks.
A little blanche is normal and we all have variations in our strength and flexibility. I'd recommend training both with and without a box. That way you can continue to train increased compression (getting the hips higher without blanche). Plus, you'll most likely be able to get more reps in if you do some with the box as well.
Oh my goodness.
U'r really strong
Thank you 🙏🏼
Hi Elizabeth! I'm at the point where I can get my hips up and feet off when I'm on an elevated surface about 1.5 feet high, but I can't get even remotely close with anything smaller than that. Do you have a video for progressing after these steps? Or tips?
Caitlin, it takes time to build the strength. I would keep working reps where you are at with 1.5 feet and then each time you train also try doing a few an inch or two (at the most) lower. You got this!
@@Elizabeth_BFit Thank you so much, Elizabeth! :)

am I the only one who wants this without music so I can hear the sounds she makes while doing this?
Good and beautiful
Thank you so much 😀
How many times this take to do my handstand,(7days,15days,30days) if i do this exercise every day how it’s taken???
no one can answer a question like that because how fast you'll learn it depends on so many factors (strength, flexibility, history of training in your life, etc.). but for most people this will take more than 30 days ;)
Not sure how a thumbnail like that only has 59k views. Counters broken
Awwww, you’re too kind.
Flexibility, that’s all!
A press up handstand comes from a mix of strength and flexibility. Every body uses a different balance of planche vs compression.
i cant touch the ground :(
Work on the sliding compression drills from a push up position and it will help develop your active flexibility. I have an online flexibility workshop that will help you with being able to touch your toes. It's a complete video tutorial that you can follow along with or follow the accompanied ebook tips. elizabethbfit.com/flexibility-training/

You sound nice. 🙏🕉
Thank you
During one of my handstand practice, I fell backward and bumped my head. I'm trying to get over my fear to resume my practice, hope i'm not too old for it.. i'm 47
Oh no! So sorry to hear that. No, you are definitely NOT too old. Always work within your safe zone while working on handstands and I always recommend lots of wall drills to help build strength and confidence in handstands. If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out my online Flexibility program that also includes hand balancing progressions and drills to build for any level and ability. Is it a trend on tikTok? I've given up on trying to tackle ALL the social platforms.
Elizabeth Blanchard yea lol.
I have got one question, if just a real human as me will be ever capable to do that?
Absolutely! I had zero handstand capabilities let alone the ability to press into a handstand a decade ago. With consistent practice you will get there!

So this is not an "only talking" tutorial, or is it?
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that but this tutorial includes training tips and demos.
Thats so beautiful. Though i must admit i’m not here for the handstand really. The black stockings made even more beautiful .... no offense. You are very beautiful and great toned body.

Because porn is soooo degrading, right?
Degrading or not isn’t even on the table because my tutorials are with the intent of helping people accomplish things and better themselves. But how you choose to spend your time is your business.
@@Elizabeth_BFit take a read at all the other comments. You know damn well what you're doing
There are some good tips to be had here, however, this video is way too long. I mean, way too long.
There is too much time eating blah blah that gets me antsy waiting for you to get to the point. I have to fast forward a lot.
I'm sure you can put out some good videos that are under 3 or 4 minutes.
Thanks for the feedback.
