  • Learn how to create an FL Studio a project template that utilizes the FPC in a way which saves time when starting new projects from scratch.
    This works great for Hip Hop producers looking to speed up their beat creation and idea pad workflow, and will work great with other styles of music as well.
    0:00 preview of the final outcome of tutorial / reasons for this FPC template technique
    1:52 more about the FPC and video intro
    2:38 tutorial starts - reviewing the default FPC layout briefly
    3:52 clearing the FPC defaults and starting our kit from a blank canvas - building the drumkit
    5:22 renaming, coloring and organizing the pads
    7:06 cut groups for the open and closed high hats
    8:22 time-lapse of filling in all the other drum pads on the FPC
    9:20 channel rack "clean up" - deleting and renaming channels - route FPC to mixer track
    10:00 FPC and the piano roll
    10:50 FPC controversy!?
    12:07 routing the FPC pads to individual mixer tracks
    15:10 route the FPC mixer tracks to a single group track (group fader)
    17:20 saving and loading your drum kits in the FPC
    17:40 saving the project as a template .flp so we can start new projects from this setup
    18:40 outro and begging for likes and subscribes
    19:00 shameless self promotion of my beats channel
    Here is the final FL Studio Project File from the tutorial (.flp):
    drive.google.com/file/d/1f2w3...
    Notes: This was made with FL Studio 20.8 and not sure if this will work for others, please let me know.
    The audio files are NOT included in the project, you will have to replace the sounds on the FPC with sounds of your own.
    The master track by default is set to output to my outputs - you will probably need to change them in order to hear the audio.
    Additionally, you may need to reselect your audio driver in case it tries to find and use mine. Options - Audio Settings - Change device from the dropdown.
    This is all I can think of, any other problems let me know in the comments section.

    That's so funny lol. I have had trouble seeing lately; I was working on a track a few weeks ago and colored my drums RED and FL Studio said "Brown". I had to ask my Mom just to make sure I didn't need to go to the hospital lmao. She agreed it was red. So don't feel bad!! They definitely need to fix that

    Great video, will be trying this tonight, I have a quick question. Is the group channel required as the main channel had all the drums running through it. Once you grouped them what then happens to the fpc on insert 1.
    Thanks.

    • @tbrizOfficial
      @tbrizOfficial  Рік тому +2

      If I recall, the actual FPC track doesn't have a signal at that point... Sort of just a placeholder... But honestly I am going by memory, it's been a while since I made this video. Grouping everything to one insert makes it so total volume of all drums can be changed as a whole... I don't have time to rewatch the video otherwise I would check and see what I did, so just going by memory LOL... Best way to find out is to follow along and try it out! Thanks for the comment ✌

    My issue with using presets for FPC is that it keeps the same name in the mixer. So if you put a kick where a Snare was , the mixer will say “Snare” until you rename it. Which can get cumbersome. No Other DAW is like this. It’s automatic in other DAWS

    • @tbrizOfficial

      Yea some of these plugins could use some love from image line and get quality-of-life improvements, like this one.

  • @TranceCore3
    @TranceCore3 Рік тому +1

    After I split my channels out of the FPC, I route the drums back into the FPC channel as a drum bus.
    that's kind of how Akai does it with their drum programs. you create a drum program, and each program exists inside something called a "Pad mixer" which is essentially a bus inside of the mixer.
    I love FL studio, I learned everything about sound and audio through it, even routing. A lot of DAWs are simpler, but FL lets you do anything your own way even if it's like 12 extra steps.
    Overall though, this is a fair video. I think the FPC gets overlooked a lot. It has tuning, and ADSR, layering all that jazz, and I think it's the least talked about plugin in the daw, even though I think it's the best drum rack FL Studio has to offer.
    Sucks you gotta create the drum kits yourself, but it's no different than a real MPC. and I think there's FPC expansions/presets around. I know you can save the drum kits you make inside of it too.

    • @tbrizOfficial

      Sorry not sure how to answer that one... The simplest solution would be to not use the FPC since by default it puts all the notes into the same pattern. Hope you figure that out tho

    I think the actual 'FPC' insert is not being used anymore, once all the individual inserts are routed to the 'Group' Insert (is that right ??).
    Can all the individual percussion instruments instead be routed to the 'FPC' insert and use it as the group insert (and do away with the group insert altogether) ??
    or am I missing something...

    • @tbrizOfficial
      @tbrizOfficial  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Jako,
      Here's my thinking on that...
      The FPC insert is still being "used" even though it is no longer getting an audio signal. Look at the channel rack... What insert is the FPC channel connected to? Even though we rerouted the audio from the pads to other inserts, that FPC insert is still very much connected to the FPC channel and awaiting an audio signal. For instance, if we un-routed any of the pads, they would default back to the FPC insert track... or, if we were to load a FPC preset kit, it may not have pads routed either, defaulting the audio back to the FPC insert. So I leave this track here because even though it is not currently receiving signal, it is still very much connected to the FPC and I would not use it for anything else.
      Setting it up the way you suggested may work (go ahead and try it out, why not) - but I would much rather have my audio separated in a way that I know what each insert purpose is... one insert completely dedicated as the FPC default insert, and one insert is completely dedicated as my group insert. To me, there is no reason to combine the two - I have plenty of faders to work with so might as well make them very specific to stay organized.
      I hope this makes sense. Just my thoughts on this and it is ultimately up to you to experiment and find out what works best for you! Appreciate the comments!

      @Jako8557 2 роки тому +1

      I'd have to double-check to see if that's possible, but when I set up some FPC drumkits, I just kept the kick drum with 0 for the offset (with snare on +1, hats on +2 etc) so that there is no "wasted" channel on the mixer. I still send those mixer channels to another group, but my personal preference is to have the kick drum on the very first fader (0 offset).
