Seriously Carson's voice is like a fine wine. You two are brilliant together. There are not enough little thumbs to point up for this one. Thank you for sharing your gifts, you really spread joy with your music.
You guys are too good. Also, your fan base and comment section is also filled with superb people, I think this is a case of the character of the artist attracting decent folks. Cheers guys.
This is true. I put all my new friends through the "Josh Turner / Other Favorites" filter to find out if we are actually friends or just acquaintances.
The way Josh zooms around the fretboard is pure wizardry. It produces such a full sound for one instrument. Carson’s vocal is spot on. The two of you combine to make a fantastic sound, whether it’s a cover or one of your original songs.
Josh, I envision you releasing a double album of your best covers titled "Under The Covers" with a picture of you holding your guitar, under a custom made quilt, with each panel showing your favorite original artist album covers. You will be rich overnight.
I was never good at musical geometry (which might explain a few things), but that sounded pretty darn perfect to these ears...third times a charm indeed. Thanks for posting it, well done!
Right..., after hearing this incredible cover, I bought the "1972" by Josh Rouse. Fantastic record, so sensitive and very well produced. I often play it nonstop, from start to end... But then again..., I always come here and listen to this more often than I listen the original. Carson's singing and groove is just amazing and Josh... well he simply transfered the whole song in his guitar playing...! "...of all those takes..." yes, this jewel here is one of your finest moments regardless of any "covers" and "genres" and everything. Pure musical talent. Period.
That groove though! My favourite song of Josh and Carson! And that solo... How is that even possible!! What would be played by two guitars is being played only by Josh! One word: Amazing
Let me just say that Josh is so gifted as are all the artists he surrounds himself with. On the other hand, Carson is one of the best crooners I have ever heard, and it's only gotten better since 2017.
These guys are so talented and the quality of recording on this track is just brilliant. Why this channel only has 167K subscribers is beyond me, especially when it has so many views. There are guys our there that upload complete rubbish and get over 1 million subscribers !!! Life is cruel. So come on all you Josh and Carson fans....subscribe :-), it doesn't cost you anything !
Damn Carson, you voice seems like it gets better and better every time you sing in a video. This is a great tune, never heard it before but I like it, thanks Josh. Oh, also like the idea of Víno and Vinyl, Retching and Records, Little Wine with a Musical Line, sorry, I forgot the name and had to go back, Whine & Vinyl. Wine & Vinyl, there it goes...
René de Goede Josh Who? Oh, He's OK... actually I'm pretty sure Josh knows how I feel about him. ;-) Pssst... Josh, if you see this, we'd sure love a lesson on this tune. Thanks!
There's just something about the way you two blend together that makes me feel like I've smoked a joint and drank a half bottle of red wine. Awesome :-)
Every time I think "that's my new favorite" of "The Other Favorites", I hear another. This being no exception. It's a good thing I can listen to all of them. Just fantastic, as always.
Not sure how the hell I missed this one, but it is now in my top 5 of everything you guys have ever done. It has a good groove, I love the added drum beat, and the guitar in this is really cool. It has been on constant replay for the last 3-4 days. I'm amused because there's finally a video of you two where Josh is the one making the faces. :D
Backwoods Gourmet Channel if only those were a thing anymore... sad. These guys would've been giants by now a few decades ago. They still will, but it'll take longer.
That guitar work with the steady rhythm intoxicating! I'm sure it was a serious investment to make it as good as it is. I'll keep coming back myself to this amazing work of art. Thank you.
Boys... you got me again. When I listen to music, I do just that, No TV no nothing but the sound. Goddam you sound so good. Can't have enough! Keep them coming! How come that you are not stars like Simon and Garfunkel? But stardom ruins people ain't it?
This is incredible! I've never heard the two of you sound better together EVER & I've been a fan since the very beginning. Love the way your two voices curl around each other's. It reminds me of David Crosby's & Graham Nash's tight harmonies. It doesn't matter who takes the high harmonies or the low harmonies as it always comes out right. The perfect song for your voices!! Also, the guitar on this is fantastic! I've not heard the song before, so this will always be the original for me. You two need to ALWAYS make music together.
Josh, (and Carson...) I'd like to leave a comment, but everytime I watch one of your videos... I'm speechless! :) Best thing I've found on youtube in... well, ever. really. The skill, the blend, the selections.... Godspeed and keep it up. Cheers!
This is the goddamn music we all need. Every time you come with a new upload I just HAVE to stop doing whatever I'm doing and put on my headphones and dig in. And EVERY time, man - I'm blown away! Sincerely, A very long time listener. 10/10!
Josh, this is maybe the best guitar performance I've ever seen from you, and I think I've seen them ALL. And Carson, same goes for you vocals. Sublime. That killer groove on the cajon just tops it all off and pulls it together. Damn, this is good.
I don’t know how many times I’ve seen this but I’ve just bought a pair of orange headphones. Oh my. It’s so much better. You guys... effing rock. Thanks chaps
Been watching you guys since I was a sophomore in high school, I'm now a junior in college. Always impressed with every video I watch of y'all's. Definitely has given me some inspiration in my own playing the past few years
Can't tell you how much I've listened to this in the last 24 hours. Addicted. A lesson would be highly appreciated if you had the time. Keep it coming guys.
Whether it's a long time favorite or a song I've never heard before, you guys knock it out of the park. The Other Favorites are definitely my new favorites.
Ok I seriously doubt Josh will see this but I want to say it. I showed my dad this video, your DADGAD video, and a couple classical pieces you did. He asked "Did this kid go to some private college?" I said "From why I know, he studied some classical guitar but besides that he's self taught. Plus he plays guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, banjo, violin, harmonica, and some instruments I've never even heard of."(Am I missing any others?) And I asked what he thought. He said that you're good, amazing in fact. In his eyes and mine, you are nothing short of a savant. The amount of instruments you play in top of your great voice and being mostly self taught is beyond impressive. I've been playing guitar for 2 years now because of 3 things. Jack white, Jason Isbell, and you. So I want to thank you Josh, from all the people you've inspired to pick up an instrument. And for making any musician jealous, no matter what they play. I hope I'll be able to meet you someday and talk about music with you. Keep doing what you're doing and I hope you get the millions upon millions of views. Because you deserve them. Cheers from down south.
"That was the clear one to me." ..."Of all those takes? Yeah." Hahaha you guys are wonderful. I can't believe you could mic a cajón like that! Immaculate harmonies! Just a side note: Carson, your voice has such smooth, present tone. It's a huge inspiration!
Carson, your voice is getting better and mature in control in bucket fulls :) I always love when you 2 work together and this is no exception, great piece of work! Sound quality has been pushing the limits Josh, been a steady climb for a while. What needs some work is the clarity of the video now. I can help with that if you want, that's what I do :) The easy way, is you have to cut thru the AA filter on your Canon video, or move to 4K and export out to 1080. That would mean a new camera. A Panasonic G85 is a good place to start. or chat with me and I will give you suggestions. Thumbs up.
One part of your appeal is your collective ability to perform spectacularly well many genres of music, and your willingness and ability to do that is also appealing. Enjoy your covers and your original work...I am blessed to play the piano by ear and love doing the same...playing anything from classical to traditional hymns to virtually anything else, so I know the enjoyment you guys feel when you can interpret any song well. We enjoy your gifts...the ones you possess, and the ones you give to us. Continued good luck!
Very solid performance here. I am amazed by how much you get from so little. I mean its a simple setup; two guys, a couple of mics, a wodden box, and a guitar. The result stand for itself. Thank you guys, its inspiring to watch.
These are not the other favorites. These are the only favorites.
Amen to that! They bring a freshness to covers. In fact many times, they sound better than the original.
how about an hour live concert video ....that would be epic
Yes! Live stream!
yes!
AGREE!!!!
I would happily buy a ticket for that.
I'd pay for that! Would love that. Please do it! :)
I always "come back" to this one because of the incredible groove! Mesmerizing!
Nice
Been there, done that.
Will do that again.
Seriously Carson's voice is like a fine wine. You two are brilliant together. There are not enough little thumbs to point up for this one. Thank you for sharing your gifts, you really spread joy with your music.
very well expressed :) Thank u too.
like a cherry wine right!?
I certainly keep coming back to this video. When Josh swoops in with "I miss my serotonin"... I practically keel over from those harmonies.
SO. GOOD.
You guys are too good. Also, your fan base and comment section is also filled with superb people, I think this is a case of the character of the artist attracting decent folks. Cheers guys.
Big thumb up! My thoughts exactly. Good change for usual youtube sheit.
well put.
This is true. I put all my new friends through the "Josh Turner / Other Favorites" filter to find out if we are actually friends or just acquaintances.
Now they need to do a mock "behind the music" video where we learn they're all huge jerks and egomaniacs.
I agree. People who love these guys are ok in my book!
Unbelievable. Please do more with Carson, you guys are perfect together.
Yes. More with Carson
Agreed. Also curious as to how many takes it DOES take to get to the center of a perfect tune...
I was never good at musical geometry (which might explain a few things), but that sounded pretty darn perfect to these ears...third times a charm indeed. Thanks for posting it, well done!
Josh Turner that's a truth Josh! I've been told that bands practice about 14 days labor in front of a tour, and that is on one tune!!..
You are so right. "Josh & Carson" are meant to be.
I like yours better than the original. A long time fan. Leon
The guitar playing and backing vocal are great here as ever, but the lead vocal is simply stunning.
Period.
I can't even believe how good this is.
Josh Turner you magnifecent human being
That groove though! My favourite song of Josh and Carson! And that solo... How is that even possible!! What would be played by two guitars is being played only by Josh! One word: Amazing
It makes me smile every time someone appreciates Josh Rouse.
I'd pay money to see these guys live
Coming back to this vid in 2022 just to gawk at how insane Josh’s guitar playing is on this arrangement
Anyone else envy his guitar skills? He's awesome 😂
Personally... I envy his guitar!
Kristie Roybal naughty naughty
Appreciative, not envious.
Mostly only people who've played guitar ;)
Best version of this song ever
Let me just say that Josh is so gifted as are all the artists he surrounds himself with. On the other hand, Carson is one of the best crooners I have ever heard, and it's only gotten better since 2017.
These guys are so talented and the quality of recording on this track is just brilliant. Why this channel only has 167K subscribers is beyond me, especially when it has so many views. smooth like butter. really good cut Josh.
As a long time JR fan, this is the cover that introduced me too Josh and Carson. Now I am a superfan of all three!
Dan Fitzgerald here. I love your music. I also love red wine so I very much enjoyed your comments on "Wiine and Vinyl". Thanks so much for sharing.
Excellent job guys, I never realized Carson could add so much of a swing vibe in his vocals. It's better than the original. Very well done.
Winner, winner - forget the TV Dinner, its totally not necessary! You two are fantastic!
I agree, but don't forget to mention Josh Turner's guitar skills!
René de Goede Josh Who? Oh, He's OK... actually I'm pretty sure Josh knows how I feel about him. ;-)
Pssst... Josh, if you see this, we'd sure love a lesson on this tune. Thanks!
It's unbelievable how much better this is than the original
There's just something about the way you two blend together that makes me feel like I've smoked a joint and drank a half bottle of red wine.
Awesome :-)
Tried that, haven't you?
Still fabulous
This is what you call a sensory overload............ I can hear your talent and watch you both perform. oh joy and a foot tapping extravaganza
carsons voice is perfect for this song ! great cover
Every time I think "that's my new favorite" of "The Other Favorites", I hear another. This being no exception. It's a good thing I can listen to all of them. Just fantastic, as always.
Damn guys, every video you put out is like a nuclear torpedo.. blowing everything out of the water, so smooth and so good!
Lordy, I can’t carry a tune in a bucket...but I’m not jealous...I’m grateful....you’re another addition to a blessed life
Not sure how the hell I missed this one, but it is now in my top 5 of everything you guys have ever done. It has a good groove, I love the added drum beat, and the guitar in this is really cool. It has been on constant replay for the last 3-4 days. I'm amused because there's finally a video of you two where Josh is the one making the faces. :D
I would buy that single right now.
Backwoods Gourmet Channel if only those were a thing anymore... sad. These guys would've been giants by now a few decades ago. They still will, but it'll take longer.
It’s a cover, but do i wish they could release this anyway!
I like their indifference at the end, like it's just another take for them.
I pray for there to be a day that josh publishes a tab for his guitar part. Absolutely amazing
The low end on the audio in this video is fantastic!
One of the best live songs I have heard on the tube...and remember..Superman never lies
Clearly one of the best tunes you two have done. Like a good wine, you all are aging wonderfully!
I keep coming back to this video. It is about as good as the original....maybe better. Love Josh's guitar fills and flourishes. Come back !!
Wow! Carson sounds great on this one.
If you love the original then you'll love this too, two talented dudes in perfect harmony.
The talent you two get to show off in this is ridiculous. Amazing performance. And who doesn't like wine & music
Had to go and listen to the original, but I came back!
Terrific. What a sound you guys have.
A Cappella Trudbol Didn't know you were a fan! How cool!
A Cappella Trudbol great artists clearly attract great artists!
thanks for introducing me to the music of Josh Rouse. Carson, the tone of your voice meets this song perfectly. Well done, fellas.
Love the Bill Wurtz at the end there!
Video lesson? Seriously this might be better than the original you guys are awesome
That guitar work with the steady rhythm intoxicating! I'm sure it was a serious investment to make it as good as it is. I'll keep coming back myself to this amazing work of art. Thank you.
sweet Jesus, that is some fine guitar work!
every time you post a new video of the other favourites I fall more and more in love with Carson's voice 💕
This has to be one of the most technically difficult songs to play and done amazingly well.
Mountain of talent....outstanding, excellent!
Boys... you got me again. When I listen to music, I do just that, No TV no nothing but the sound. Goddam you sound so good. Can't have enough! Keep them coming! How come that you are not stars like Simon and Garfunkel? But stardom ruins people ain't it?
And that's how it's just done. Wow. Well done gents
A very long time listener.
10/10!
How about keeping like everyone else’s - - Without taking the Lord’s name in vain. Thank You
Yeah...you two seem to sing the soundtrack of my life. And it's all good.
I've just listened to the original and I have to say I think your version is much better. Awesome work
Well you never let us down, Josh!
Josh, this is maybe the best guitar performance I've ever seen from you, and I think I've seen them ALL. And Carson, same goes for you vocals. Sublime. That killer groove on the cajon just tops it all off and pulls it together. Damn, this is good.

Hey Josh I'm really glad to see you and Carson working together again. Ya'll are great together!
Been watching you guys since I was a sophomore in high school, I'm now a junior in college. Always impressed with every video I watch of y'all's. Definitely has given me some inspiration in my own playing the past few years
Wow my faith in musicianship and soul has been restored. Thank you.
Josh always plays chords that are full of color. In my fantasies I am like Josh - a good singer, an awesome guitar player.
Now that’s a great comment - - Aren’t we all??? In our fantasies...🤗🤗
Can't tell you how much I've listened to this in the last 24 hours. Addicted. A lesson would be highly appreciated if you had the time. Keep it coming guys.

Love this Rouse tune. You guys do it justice and breathe fresh air into it. Super strong work.
It don't get any better than this. I have been listening to these guys for several months, and I keep coming back to this song. Fantastic!
Damn... Never heard it, but it really dosen't matter....That was killer...
Josh, you make it look so easy and Carson has a voice that feels so easy. Great stuff!

The ending bit after the song is by far the best!

Also what do you recommend for recording electric/acoustic guitar and vocals on a budget?
Thanks for posting Josh Turner.
WOW!!! What a Voice.
Guitar lesson/cords for josh’s guitar playing ...anybody ......he is just to good and the singing is so on point many thanks
"That was the clear one to me."
..."Of all those takes? Yeah."
Hahaha you guys are wonderful. I can't believe you could mic a cajón like that!
Immaculate harmonies! Just a side note: Carson, your voice has such smooth, present tone. It's a huge inspiration!
Fantastic guitar, love that baseline! Just a great composition in general, you guys are amazing.
Great job, again! The harmonies were spot on.
I just can't stop listinig to the sound of the 4 instruments (two voices, a guitar and a cajon ;-) )!!!!
The amount of respect I have for Josh's guitar techniques has kill is insane. You two really do blow it out the park
The sky's the limit, boys. Awesome stuff.
This is a real nice song and real nice voices singing , cheers guys from me in Australia :-)
What a great album 1972 is, great rendition
Better than the original. You are more than welcome to come in the south of France !
Carson, your voice is getting better and mature in control in bucket fulls :) I always love when you 2 work together and this is no exception, great piece of work! This is a freaking masterpiece. Good voices good guitar and drum sound! That's what i need! | Respect, guys!
Very solid performance here. I am amazed by how much you get from so little. I mean its a simple setup; two guys, a couple of mics, a wodden box, and a guitar. The result stand for itself. Thank you guys, its inspiring to watch.
