I added the Austin City Limits version of 2021 to my channel as well. The talk box has not been used like this for quite some time as far as I know, but love the way they use it in this song.
The sound is great on this. Loving the jamming side of the band. I'm hearing Grateful Dead, Yes, ELP among others while they are keeping their own minimalist sound.
José Sosa You called it, exactly. ELP, especially. Saw them Friday and they’re expanding the sound even further. Slipped in a ton of things nobody was expecting, including a takeoff on M79 that started to go this way, but then became the Parks and Rec Theme! Just to freak out the locals (the show is set in a [fictional] nearby town) and because they can. The lineup change instantly made them an expansive band.
folkenpoet yeah I love how much more fluid they are musically now. I’ll admit before Rastam left, everything seemed a lot more deliberate and calculated but I’m enjoying their expansion through music and not just personnel change. The jams and last album but especially the jams have legitimized the band to me even more, personally.
Alan J Good catch! Yes, and it’s Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Ascending” at the root of it, so the credit is going to look fun if it ever makes a live record!

Best music of my generation
igloo2 THIS.
Short, sharp, correct.
I think with this album Ezra has proven himself to be the voice of our generation. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
