This is literally the most soul crushing song imaginable. If you just read the lyrics, they could easily come off as absurd or melodramatic, but his delivery is just so sincere and heartbreaking that, not only do you believe every word, but you also feel his pain. Even if you don't relate to what he's saying, you can empathize with him, and as someone who does relate to his pain, it really destroys me. Isaac really is one of my all time favorite lyricists, and it's heartbreaking that I may never hear this song live.
Knowing I'll never see this in Mexico City totally breaks my heart. The new Black Country, New Road album is another masterpiece in a row. So sad Isaac Woods has left the band. I hope the rest of the band realise they still got it.
The improvements Isaac made in his singing in just the space of 2 years is amazing. Would have loved to see where he'd go from here - hopefully he'll make some music again at some point and we'll still get a chance.
it is a masterful song, harmonically, melodically. the urgency that leads to the chorus... gives me goosebumps but beyond that, the lyrics have impressive literary potential you think about it for a lifetime
In a pretty shitty place in my life right now, and I know I’ll get over it but right now I don’t feel all too well. Today I rewatched this performance and the second verse made me curl up in a ball and bawl my eyes out. The desperation in Isaac’s voice destroys me
Ive been listening to live versions of this since September of last year and decided to listen to another since the album is out + Isaac left. Thank you for this! :)
That’s my absolutely favorite BCNR song. I was devastated you guys didn’t play it in Rio, last Saturday. Other than that, great show, despite the flu and the mikes 😊
Found out about this band a few days ago and i’m so sad i’ll never be able to see this lineup live, Isaac rlly carried the soul of the band, his gut wrenching vocals are extremely good, a shame they’ll never put an album like AFUT again.
Kinda sad to say this but this is the peak of this band. The best song they ever made and there will never be another song like this. Live at Bush Hall just lacks the character, the rawness and the pain that Isaac brings to the sound. Tho I'm glad that Isaac left to focus on his mental health because way he sings kind of shows that he's going through so much. I still hope the best for the band and will be happy to be proven wrong.
I actually really love their new songs so far! I dont think it's worse, I think it's phenomenal in a new way! Nancy takes the night is such a powerful song!
How I feel. I don't wish any ill on the current bcnr, but the spark just isn't there anymore for me. I 100% get why they didn't, but part of me wishes they'd changed the name just to differentiate the lineups in conversation.
i dont think i could handle watching a live performance like this (im saying this in a positive way ig). id either leave or just stand there in tears lol.
The people at this show probably didn’t even realize how lucky they were to see this live. Omg

Fan from China, love Isaac and all of the other band members. My dear friends, music unites the world!

Love how he says the word "really" at 4:22. Real emotive. That whole final line of that verse is really passionately delivered.

A year later and i still cry to this.
im so glad to be alive right now
god i wish i got to see this song live
Thank you. We need more live recordings of this band since there will be no BCNR w/Isaac performances in the future :(
This is spectacular. Everyone in this band is amazing.
