    This song literally kept me alive when I was a teenager. "Believe that life can change, that you're not stuck in vain..." Thank you, Billy. You probably saved my life.

      I remember 1995, first year of law school In Chicago, waking up to my radio alarm clock playing a new dreamy sound...it was so heavenly- euphoric and peaceful....It was the first time I heard 1979. Lol.
      Haha, but Tonight, Tonight was the first song played at my wedding reception and Jack was a beautiful leading partner on the floor....we would never be the same...lol...yes I got divorced, but my wedding day was still probably the best day or 2nd best day of my life. So right.

    What a treat to still have 3 of the 4 originals in the band. No disrespect to other drummers that stood in for Jimmy, but his version (which is obviously the original version) is just flawless. It’s a difficult song to drum and he does so in a calm fashion. Some of the other guys got too carried away, but it’s still good. You just can’t replace Jimmy.

    Billy might be only original but all of those performers are extremely talented. Hell, the lead guitarist singled-handedly used his ax and mad the sound of an entire orchestra

    • @EpicStuffIsEpic
      @EpicStuffIsEpic 9 років тому +3

      Zack Weaver Oh really? I thought that one guy was the whole orchestra (sarcasm). He was saying that the talented guitar player captured the melody of the whole orchestra. Playing it wouldn't be that hard but converting it to guitar is the difficult part.

    • @EpicStuffIsEpic
      @EpicStuffIsEpic 9 років тому

      Zack Weaver If you are speaking of the one off the album then yes it was recorded with a orchestra (look it up). If you are speaking about this live performance, we both already know there was only strings....

    The band is so professional and tight--paying homage to the composition, dynamics, and everything. Even if the tempo charges a bit more, it's fantastic. The lead, pedal tone guitar is just a little loud in the mix, in my opinion.

    • @MrDraven37
      @MrDraven37 10 років тому +18

      Daniel Portela Yes.. most are... but without at least one other of the originals, it's just Billy Corgan and band.. if you had seen the Pumpkins at their height during Siamese, Mellon Collie, and Adore you would understand that...

    • @danielernestoportela
      @danielernestoportela 10 років тому +3

      MrDraven37 I do understand your point. But they still sound awesome live and fill me with true emotions. Not like GNR for example, that although I've always been a great fan, now the Guns aren't even 30% of what they used to be.

    • @MrDraven37
      @MrDraven37 10 років тому +3

      Daniel Portela I get what you are saying, the bassist chick just looks bored (or is boring), maybe she is trying too hard to be D'Arcy or Melissa Auf der Maur and failing.. both those girls had distinct personalities and presence that added to the Pumpkins. Billy just overshadows the rest of this band without trying to.

    • @danielernestoportela
      @danielernestoportela 10 років тому +8

      MrDraven37 yah but the new bassist is pretty cool actually, she plays well and although she's not a headbanger, she's appealing and has this nice aura. Look for videos on her on you tube, there are a few interesting interviews. She was washing dishes at a restaurant when she got "THE call" to be in the Pumpkins. Seems like a pretty humble person.

    'El tiempo nunca es tiempo, en absoluto,
    nunca jamás te puedes marchar
    sin dejar un parte de juventud.
    Y nuestras vidas han cambiado para siempre,
    nunca seremos los mismos.
    Cuanto más cambias, menos sientes.
    Cree, cree en mí, cree, cree
    que la vida puede cambiar,
    que no estás atascado en vano.
    No somos los mismos, esta noche somos diferentes.
    Esta noche, esta noche.
    Tan brillante.
    Esta noche, esta noche.
    Y sabes que nunca estás segura,
    pero estás segura de que podrías tener razón.
    Si te aferraras a la luz,
    y las ascuas nunca se apagasen
    en tu ciudad junto al lago.
    El lugar donde naciste.
    Cree, cree en mi, cree, cree.
    En la resuelta urgencia del ahora,
    y si crees que esta noche no hay ninguna oportunidad.
    Esta noche, esta noche.
    Tan brillante.
    Esta noche, esta noche.
    Esta noche crucificaremos a los hipócritas.
    -Esta noche-
    Haremos las cosas bien,
    esta noche lo sentiremos todo.
    -Esta noche-
    Encontraremos una forma de
    ofrecer en sacrificio la noche, esta noche.
    -Esta noche-
    Los momentos indescriptibles de tu vida.
    -Esta noche-
    Lo imposible es posible esta noche.
    -Esta noche-
    Cree en mí como yo creo en ti, esta noche.
    Esta noche, esta noche.
    Esta noche, esta noche'.

Second if you want to hear the song as recorded I suggest you don't listen to any live music. And third , music is open to interpretation any time it's played, so stop complaining and enjoy

    I feel like around this time, Howard Stern definitely inspired him to continue doing this song live. cause in an interview corgan was saying he felt the need to let go of the past to present the future, and howard was all like "HELL NO.. PAUL MCCARTNEY IS STILL LOVED BUT I NEED TO HEAR SOME MAYBE I'M AMAZED" and corgans like "You're right, idk how to really feel about the issue... i just feel like it's a burden and you get cnstantly asked that, the industry is full of pressure tactics etc"

    Personally I think Mike is great at mimicking Jimmy but putting his own spin on it and also a great drummer normally on the new stuff.

      @@dinospumoni663 He plays really well, but those snare fills just before the chorus are noticeably faster.

    Does anyone know how to get the tone on the guitar used for the strings section?

    • @keithjagger6057

      Enrique Corgan I meant the device the second guitarist uses for what would have been the instrumental pieces. Thank you for your help, though.

      Keith Jagger He's using an E-bow to get that very long sustain!

      That's why I don't listen to any of the music from this decade. With the exception of TOP, P!ATD, FOB.

      +Payton Conley I mean that's your opinion. I still like their music. I prefer Panic and TOP to FOB but I still like them.

      yeah quite hard done by :( maybe we'll also be stroking ourselves one day in video comment sections reminiscing on the days of talented and revolutionary artists in the undergrounds who sadly you obviously have no idea about!

      Well I’m 15 and trust me I see the light I dislike most of today’s music and listen mostly to 90s alternative rock and the Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite band :)
