This song literally kept me alive when I was a teenager. "Believe that life can change, that you're not stuck in vain..." Thank you, Billy. You probably saved my life.
I remember 1995, first year of law school In Chicago, waking up to my radio alarm clock playing a new dreamy sound...it was so heavenly- euphoric and peaceful....It was the first time I heard 1979. Lol. Haha, but Tonight, Tonight was the first song played at my wedding reception and Jack was a beautiful leading partner on the floor....we would never be the same...lol...yes I got divorced, but my wedding day was still probably the best day or 2nd best day of my life. So right.
WANT THIS PLAYED AT MY FUNERAL LOUD WERE THE SPEAKERS ARE POPPING!!! BILLY CORGAN THANKS FOR THIS MASTERPIECE IF YOUR READING THIS!! LOVE FROM SCOTLAND 👊🏴
What a treat to still have 3 of the 4 originals in the band. No disrespect to other drummers that stood in for Jimmy, but his version (which is obviously the original version) is just flawless. It’s a difficult song to drum and he does so in a calm fashion. Some of the other guys got too carried away, but it’s still good. You just can’t replace Jimmy.
Billy might be only original but all of those performers are extremely talented. Hell, the lead guitarist singled-handedly used his ax and mad the sound of an entire orchestra
Zack Weaver Oh really? I thought that one guy was the whole orchestra (sarcasm). He was saying that the talented guitar player captured the melody of the whole orchestra. Playing it wouldn't be that hard but converting it to guitar is the difficult part.
Zack Weaver If you are speaking of the one off the album then yes it was recorded with a orchestra (look it up). If you are speaking about this live performance, we both already know there was only strings....
Billy is an amazing song writer and musician, not an american idol contestant. If you want to judge music by the a person's looks, you're in the wrong genre.
The band is so professional and tight--paying homage to the composition, dynamics, and everything. Even if the tempo charges a bit more, it's fantastic. The lead, pedal tone guitar is just a little loud in the mix, in my opinion.
For guitar geeks: I find it interesting Jeff and James are the designated ebow guys in the pumpkins. But I have to say, if I was lucky enough to get this gig; I would install one of those pickups that do the ebow thing. Ebows are kind of a pain in the ass hehe.
Daniel Portela Yes.. most are... but without at least one other of the originals, it's just Billy Corgan and band.. if you had seen the Pumpkins at their height during Siamese, Mellon Collie, and Adore you would understand that...
MrDraven37 I do understand your point. But they still sound awesome live and fill me with true emotions. Not like GNR for example, that although I've always been a great fan, now the Guns aren't even 30% of what they used to be.
Daniel Portela I get what you are saying, the bassist chick just looks bored (or is boring), maybe she is trying too hard to be D'Arcy or Melissa Auf der Maur and failing.. both those girls had distinct personalities and presence that added to the Pumpkins. Billy just overshadows the rest of this band without trying to.
MrDraven37 yah but the new bassist is pretty cool actually, she plays well and although she's not a headbanger, she's appealing and has this nice aura. Look for videos on her on you tube, there are a few interesting interviews. She was washing dishes at a restaurant when she got "THE call" to be in the Pumpkins. Seems like a pretty humble person.

I'm so tired of hearing how this is too fast and the wrong people are playing and blah blah blah. First Billy always looks bored that's how he is and will never change. Second if you want to hear the song as recorded I suggest you don't listen to any live music. And third , music is open to interpretation any time it's played, so stop complaining and enjoy
I feel like around this time, Howard Stern definitely inspired him to continue doing this song live. cause in an interview corgan was saying he felt the need to let go of the past to present the future, and howard was all like "HELL NO.. PAUL MCCARTNEY IS STILL LOVED BUT I NEED TO HEAR SOME MAYBE I'M AMAZED" and corgans like "You're right, idk how to really feel about the issue... i just feel like it's a burden and you get cnstantly asked that, the industry is full of pressure tactics etc"
+Tyrell Wellick well im a old sp fan from being a kid , to be fair its 1 smashing pumpkin , just billy and not a bad performance but not an amazing one; I would have loved to be there but it would have been sad not seeing jimmy, darcy and iha
+GamersBar Another old SPer here. Why should the crowd be that into it when Billy can't be bothered to pretend like he even cares? You're being awful gracious by saying "not bad". It was too fast and had no heart. The video in the background only made the comparison to the old Pumpkins so much more obvious and the current reality so much more depressing. Maybe one day we will have a truly amazing band together again. I know it's silly but a man can dream.
Wonder if people will actually stop bitching about the new members. If you prefer the line up from the 90's go listen to them! Don't have a go at the new guys. Personally I think Mike is great at mimicking Jimmy but putting his own spin on it and also a great drummer normally on the new stuff. I think Nicole is great too. I think Jeff is an amazing guitarist too! The stuff in Quasar, Panopticon etc are incredible.
...........hola buenas noches Billy............voy mejorando...........poco a poco...........pero bien............cuidate...........yo ahora necesito tranquilidad.........y estar conmigo mismo................gracias por todo.................🫂............🎃.............

Billy Corgan could be considered one of the least gifted singers, but paradoxically most of his songs are among the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard. Even with his crappy voice and everything.
I think Billy is an excellent singer and has a beautiful voice. I'd go as far as to say one of the 100 greatest rock vocalists of all-time. This just wasn't a great performance.

Well I’m 15 and trust me I see the light I dislike most of today’s music and listen mostly to 90s alternative rock and the Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite band :)
This song literally kept me alive when I was a teenager. "Believe that life can change, that you're not stuck in vain..." Thank you, Billy. You probably saved my life.

One of the most amazing song ever
Hi I recommend a song called 'looking into the mirror' By Robert Nix
In my opinion growing up in the 90's and the rock music was the greatest. The band's the songs can't be topped.
Hi I Recommend an indie song called 'The Bond Villain' By Robert Nix
This song was the song that was going through my head the day my son was born so every time I hear it I get to relive that amazing moment
the 90s, I'm literally out of words to describe how wonderful it is: the clothes, the vibe, the pop culture....

100% agree!
bringthedarth I feel like the only careers that should require looks are modeling, really.
His voice is 1 in million
He's incredibly talented, but vain as hell. Always viewed the band as his backup group. Reminds me of David Byrne.
I was there for this show, despite Jimmy not being there, it’s one of my favorite performances Billy has ever given
Love this song so much.. ‘believe! Believe in me!’
The bass players vocals in the back towards the end of the song is so beautiful
I like this incarnation of the Pumpkins. I saw them at the Wiltern Theater in L.A. last year. They're sounding great!
Amazing as always.
So evocative, the song and band helped me get strong and give up alcohol which was fucking up my life and marriage at the time. Thanks a mill 🎃

Billy, I love the way you don't give a fk. That's rock and roll man.
My dad listened to this on long car rides I’m 13 now I listen to them and a lot of other old bands and old rap
I love this song since i was a child 👍👍👍🙌🙌
90s rock is fucking sick
No puedo decir todo lo que representa esta esta canción! Maravillosa en todos los tiempos! 2020 💘💘💘

Wow Billy, your voice doesn't age.
I dunno about that.

Not me. They sound awesome. Besides, Billy is the Pumpkins. Aren't most, if not all, the songs composed by him?
Daniel Portela Yes.. most are... but without at least one other of the originals, it's just Billy Corgan and band.. if you had seen the Pumpkins at their height during Siamese, Mellon Collie, and Adore you would understand that...

'El tiempo nunca es tiempo, en absoluto,

Esta noche, esta noche.
Tan brillante.
Esta noche, esta noche.
Esta noche crucificaremos a los hipócritas.
-Esta noche-

The eBow guitar is way too loud in the mix IMO . Distracting. Like to hear it as a trio.

Música linda mais a música é pra cantar.
Does anyone know how to get the tone on the guitar used for the strings section?
Enrique Corgan I meant the device the second guitarist uses for what would have been the instrumental pieces. Thank you for your help, though.
Keith Jagger He's using an E-bow to get that very long sustain!
William Pierce Thanks, man. I've never heard of ebows until now. I may get one now.
god damn i feel so bad for younger kids and the music they have to grow up with
That's why I don't listen to any of the music from this decade. With the exception of TOP, P!ATD, FOB.
