The band's live and stunning performance during this early 1990's period proves their intense greatness as a unit. One apparent key for a band with a prodigy lead guitarist like Corgan, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hendrix, etc. is the band not competing with the lead. Then the big money hits which enables the ego trips, drugs, and many excesses. Surprise, nobody died. Phew. Corgan playing all the instruments on Siamese Dream proves he was the essential core of the band. It was Corgan's sound. The key uniqueness of The Pumkins I hear are Corgan's vocals which alternate between soft slow highs and powerful screaming crescendoes. Darcy's wow beauty added immensely to their stage presence. Her non competitive bass riffs stayed out of the band's way. A bass road hog like Jaco Pastorius would have ruined things. James Iha's drone, drone, drone rythym guitar playing was the perfect backdrop for Corgan's lead. What kills many bands after their first two or three albums is they have about eight smash hit singles which fans at the concerts want to hear. But, the band is on the road and playing these same songs over and over on a daily basis for years. It crushes their creativity, so they change, move away from the hits, and it pisses off the audiences. Also, in Corgan's case, he betrayed the on stage rock look when he shaved his head and gained a ton of weight. The Uncle Festus impersonation didn't work. Surrounded by "Yes Men" nobody said, hey, this look sucks! Then came the goofy on stage space outfits, screwball videos, and new band members. If only they could have trapped the "lightning in a bottle" of this performance!
On key, mixed and compressed properly, like it is here, his voice is wonderful. Unfortuately, on most live Pumpkin videos, it's none of those, more like a chainsaw on concrete. And I love SP.

What was this even about? :

D'arcy : "do you FEEL this?"
Some guy : "yeah I feel u gurl"
On key, mixed and compressed properly, like it is here, his voice is wonderful. Unfortuately, on most live Pumpkin videos, it's none of those, more like a chainsaw on concrete. And I love SP.
There is a time when i enjoy my cheese and there is a time when i want to reflect and enjoy real music- when that time comes I always come back to the SP
Such a goddamn good song brings back so many memories of happiness ❤
