Fun fact: I told my therapist that I think of my anxiety like another voice in my head that makes me feel bad. She then suggested "Hey, try taking the authority away from the voice! Turn that voice into someone so ridiculous that you refuse to listen to them." So now I imagine my anxiety voice as Warren.
This could just be me. But I feel the reason why their as much gore as their was in the web series was because of limitations. But I dunno. It could just the me.
I think they use gore or implicated gore as a method of shock or to ramp up the tone of the show in the final act of an episode, which they don't commonly do and I appreciate that. Like you said they rely on psychological horror like in the first episode they live out their lives fully, only to realize they're still in the montage of a song that's yet to be finished. And that is brilliant.
He felt like the “new guy” of the teachers who didn’t know what he was getting into. Maybe that’s why the other teachers torture them; they’re just fucking annoying
I love how Red Guys just so patient with Yellow lmao. The last episode Yellows just throwing all the dishes away and Red just calmly explains "...they go in the cupboard" and just before the big blowup in episode 4 he stands up for Yellow and tries to get Duck to back off. Not to mention that when Yellow forgets the password, instead of getting outraged he just asks him to try to remember, even if hes still mildly frustrated.
I love reds constant need for normalcy. He always says stuff like “it’s fine, just ignore it.”, or “no no, he’s fine, it’s fine.” It just adds even more of an unsettling factor to every episode. TLDR, red needs therapy.
My heart actually sank when duck pulled yellow's batteries out. They were so close. The book going into the shredder, seeing it take the last chance for these creatures to... I don't know, do *something,* it filled me with dread.
that part made me probably the most frustrated ive ever been when watching a series lol but yeah it sucked that it just ended on a cliffhanger. a cool detail i also noticed is that in every episode, there's always one of them who's more slightly more sane/aware of the things happening around (like with duck in the first, red driving the car in transportation, and in the last episode)
What with all the gore we’ve weathered as an audience (especially in the web series), the creators demonstrated pure narrative genius with the fact that watching Yellow _gleefully shred a book_ tops every other sequence as the final and most horrifying in the series.
@@gabsyp_ i mean, that's the point, isn't it? the show isn't *really* about having all the answers. it's not even about having any answers. knowing the larger machinations of what's going on would destroy the narrative without serving a larger purpose beyond satiating the people who watch too many theory videos on youtube trying to extract meaning from the wrong places entirely. that's not what art is supposed to do or be about.
I've seen a lot of people saying that Red Guy seems to be the least aware of the trio's situation, but that's not true at all, and I'm not sure how y'all're coming to that conclusion. He's more aware of their situation than either of the others, and it greatly affects his character. The way I see it, the 'he's oblivious idea' is a misinterpretation of two of his main character traits: *1.)* Red Guy is resistant to and questioning of a lot of the weirdness they deal with, with one exception; he will happily roll with whatever gets him the fuck out of the Nightmare House. > Ep.1 - Being in Upper Management in a boring factory gave him a stable environment and a means to avoid the Nightmare House, so it was able to latch onto him easily. > Ep.3 - He was enthusiastic about the family lessons and the idea that he had a 'real family' out there, because he was wishing that they could rescue him from this, in his own screaming words from Ep.4's opening, "actual nightmare". I feel that he was only so eager to dump his friends because he hoped it meant he could finally escape. > Ep.5 - He finally Had Enough and decided to take matters into his own hands. He could have easily left on his own, but Ep.3 made him realize that the other two weirdos he's trauma-bonded with are his family and if there's something better out there, he's bringing them, too. *2.)* Red Guy's main coping mechanism for dealing with things he can't change is to Avoid Thinking About It. > Ep.2 - Bird Guy is dead and after realizing this means that he's never coming back, Red Guy promptly focuses on anything but his own grief (which means putting down Yellow Guy's grief in the process,) which eventually turns into trying to make a replacement Bird Guy so he can pretend nothing is wrong. > Ep.3 - His family doesn't like him and he's immediately the odd one out. He's gone as quick as he came, unceremoniously dumped back into the house. All his hope and optimism was for nothing. He Does Not Want To Talk About It. > Ep.6 - Just... look at the end of Ep.5. He tries to be optimistic for Yellow Guy before breaking down into quiet crying, holding himself and rocking. This man is broken. In Ep.6 he throws himself fully into the horrible strangeness. He's given up. The Red Guy before Ep.5 would have been so happy that someone else was questioning the reality around them, but when Yellow Guy's batteries are changed, Red Guy is so terrified of what the horrible truths behind their garish personal hell could be that he blatantly tells Duck Guy to ignore it and throws himself into the teacher's lesson. So, no, he's not oblivious. He's painfully aware and it's taken a horrible mental toll on the guy. Someone hug this poor bastard, he's fucking terrified.
don’t hug him, he’s scared I’m sorry for that terrible joke.. anyways, this is a very well written comment and I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed how just incredibly sad this man is :(
1:37:05 I like the detail of how he says “this is our- where we are” instead of “this is our house/home”. It just shows that he also, like red guy, does not think of this place as a home, rather just a place he is.
i always feared my stuffed animals and dolls were alive (anything that had eyes basically) i was afraid to treat any of them poorly because i thought they'd seek revenge. id like to think that I'm no longer afraid of that as an adult now, however i now fear spiders and insects want to seek revenge if i kill one of their buddies.
@@thedeserts I still have 2 stuffed animals from childhood and I'm 22, I don't think I could get rid of at least 1 of them but just for nostalgia/memory sake
This is how 4th wall breaks should be done imo. Here it’s not stopping the flow of the show to insult the viewer. Instead it’s subtle & actually serves the plot. I really loved it
In a similar vein, i love the part where yellow and warren are inside yellow's brain and warren points out that the brain friends "aren't real, they're just animated." This show is the best
As someone who can't sell his novel and whose family recently got rid of our landline, I can't help but feel like this show is speaking to me directly.
underrated moment at 58:24 that I never see in compilations *Duck:* “Where did you get this game?” *Twins:* “WE DIDN’T INVENT IT 👫” *Duck:* “Didn’t say you did”
This is clay animation ?… I thought clay animation was Shows like Wallace and Gromit..Guppy and shit like that .. this loooks like Elmo style with puppets and shit
@@Sheep-Shagger It’s official, just not the original series. The original was UA-cam only, this was played on TV and had more money to work with. (Of course the money part is an assumption, but I think it’s a fair one lol)
As a new fan, I went to the webseries and only seen clips of the TV series and tbh, I think I like the TV series more. Red, being my favorite, has more character to him unlike the webseries. I found him really really dull in the og but I absolutely love him in this and his whole arc of wanting to get out of this nightmare and being self aware. Also love the hidden lore. I love when things like this have a story element to it, like how it was for me when the first FNAF game came out.
“How do we get out of here or away from you immediately” “How strange, they’re pretending they don’t respect me.” “Don’t get too close to them, they look feral.” Are also equally iconic lines that follow right after.
Even after years, DHMIS is scarier and more psychologically distressing than most horror movies. Just says a lot about how much care and detail the creators have.
That's because most horror movies rely on cheap jumpscares that are supported by poorly written stories. That's why I often find myself saying "I dont like horror." when thats not really true, its just that horror is rarely done well, which is a pity because just look at this show
Most horror movies rely of physical scared then distressing types of scares and that's what tends to make DHMIS so scary is how it doesn't look scary but when the blood and gore shows up it's more so distressing to you to see
I like how the relationships between the protagonists portraits. They're not friends, not family, but not a strangers also. They live together and experience things together, trying to deal with each other knowing nothing about themselves. That's very weird, but so cool to watch!
I love how in the “Death” episode they made it clear that David was not his name, but continued to refer to him with pronouns for the rest of the episode without ever mentioning his real name
It went from absolutely horrific in the first season to now a family cult trying to kidnap someone for the mother role so they can get a family discount on chicken. Wild
I love how Stain is a genuinely inspiring person to be around to the point where the group would be better off with him, but they don’t want to accept him as a replacement for Duck, who just harasses and talks down to everyone around him. So they just slowly turn him into Duck until it leads to his death.
Are we sure Stain was the one that died? I wouldn't put it past them to kill off the original Duck and with where they were standing when the murder happened, it very well could have been the real Duck.
@@makerflaker8358also at 46:37 you can see maggots in the decapitated Duck's blood. Stain wouldn't have maggots in them, they haven't been buried like the original Duck was.
What’s even more disturbing to think about is at that point, does even matter if the real duck was the one that died? They basically turned Stain into duck already, so much that if he really did kill the real duck, he’s already become duck enough to the point that stain is long gone. Quite trippy to think about
I just adore the different mediums they use. The practical effects, claymation, hand drawn animation.. There was so much love put into making this series and it really paid off. I really hope they plan to do another season.
I really like that the main characters know that something is wrong or strange. When something weird happens, they acknowledge it instead of acting like nothing happened.
I was very worried that the show wouldn't live up to watching the original 6 or so years ago. And then came the announcement that it was basically UK exclusive. Turns out, the show is incredible and I can just watch it here. Very happy :))
Unironically couldn’t stop laughing at how suddenly dark duck gets when he puts the bread child in the toaster when it’s mom denies him the role of the father in her family lol.
i like the TV show a smidge more because the three actually interact and talk. we also get to see the character's personalities more. honestly, this was really well made. i love this so much.
i agree although to be fair in ep 3 of the first series they do interact they were having a picnic so i wouldnt say they dont interact at all in the original
honestly this series really leans into the subtle and unintentional existential dread kid's shows used to give me. Even when I was a kid I kinda hated how the characters could never actually leave their sets and houses, maybe sometimes they'd have special episode where they would switch up the set or something but they usually only pretended to experience the world they were trying to teach about. One that sticks out to me is the Upside Down Show. As charming and lovable as it is, most of the episodes are the main characters trying to leave their impossible surreal house to get somewhere in the real world. It gave me a feeling of dread and discomfort, maybe the hard parallel between the surreal puppets and the real world is what really kicked it into uncanny for me. regardless, i think the use of playful child like imagery is used very purposefully and effectively in this series
i used to watch the upside down show too, i loved that show but it always gave me an uncomfortable feeling when the rooms they would go in also had puppets or other dimensional aspects to it, making it seem like their world is just all a facade in a way, and at the end of each episode then they would find their way into the real world
As someone who's done puppetry professionally, it's worth noting that the level of personality and emotion they're getting out of the main characters is *extremely* hard to do, especially since they aren't using the Muppet style of overly animated or energetic movement, or with any moving parts other than arms and mouth. Mad respect for the puppeteers and puppet masters
I remember watching these as a kid and being terrified but now as a 23 year old adult you realize how deep and philosophical this show was/is. It hides its deeper themes under a creepy child like theme. A true form of art.
I love this show so much. Did anyone else notice during the jobs song, when the briefcase walks off into the closet still singing. He sings “or you can be the one to dig a hole for a funeral” Coincidence? I think not!
@@Hahahhahah_vroom yep, that's yellow guy's dad, Roy! I think he ran the show during season one, so it's a nod to that (an homage of sorts; he's still watching). He also disguises himself during that car scene when Yellow Guy found him on the road.
I love how they play on the "one adorable little girl having fun among the cute puppets" trope by having a creepy grown-up woman as the only human character.
what scared me the most from all these episodes is the fact that roy still appears at the end of the credits and as well him making appearances in some episodes.
What’s interesting is that Roy seems unwelcome on the show now. The twins insult him, Red Guy kicks him out of the car, his sightings look as though he’s hiding rather than in control, hell he even disguises himself to tag along after the gang takes Episode 5’s plot off the rails. Seems that whoever’s in charge now clearly doesn’t want Roy to be involved. And he’s not happy about it.
If there has ever been a series I was eager to watch a multiple hours long "behind the scenes" episode about, this is it. The animation techniques coming in motion, the writers' room, character design sessions, the storyboard workshops, or even recording the voiceover... geez, what a creative ride it would be!
This is honestly hilarious. I find this way more funny than scary, but there is still so much creativity and entertainment in the episodes. The darker moments add so much personality to the show and it’s a personality I don’t find much in other content. I’m glad the creators got the chance to expand on their ideas and the budget to accomplish them
who ever puppeted Todney KILLED IT. That family song and him jamming on the tambourine and the eye movements I CAN'T!!!! and the advice "get a nose ring" i think Family is my fave episode
Same! Todney is the best part of that episode. I still can’t get over “We’ve grown a little bit but at least we aren’t going backwards like grandma!” 😂💀
[28:15/1:52:22] I love how even though the show is batshit crazy and nonsensical. There's still a level of consistency even to the subtlest of details. In the "Death" episode, The Shepherds Pie recipe requires a "Rat Egg", now you'd initially see this as a mispronunciation of "Raw Egg" or an absurdist joke about needing the egg of a rat. But when we see Yellow Guy's dream sequence about living in a new neighborhood, The Narrator directly mentions the bird given by the neighbor as a "Rat" thus explaining the recipe being twisted in Leslie's perspective not a mispronunciation or absurdist humor.
Furthermore, when yellow guy describes Warren’s eyes as looking like those of a rat. Yellow is actually saying that his eyes look similar to those of a bird. Such as an eagle who’s wings are taking a little longer to sprout.
32:17 God, as someone who lost a loved one recently, this scene hit a little too close to home. The funeral felt so uncomfortable, having so many people who knew them try to introduce themselves to me, constantly trying to spark conversation, even my parents trying to get me to take some of the sandwiches the funeral home had… The entire thing made grieving so much more difficult, because it added a whole new layer of anxiety. And I didn’t even want to go in the first place. I wish people would just leave strangers who clearly don’t need their help alone.
Fr. Ppl were mad at me for not eating anything after…and many Ppl misunderstood my sadness. Well I felt numb and held back my tears and my own mother said I’m cold blooded
I've been to a few funerals in my life. After my grandpa's, I decided I'd just not go to them anymore. It's not my fault for disliking how the entire experience makes me feel and that it just totally ruins my memory of the person I use to love. I decided I prefer to remember a person when they were alive than lying dead in a casket surrounded by sad witnesses. If anything, it's easier for me to move on when I don't have the vibe of a funeral stuck to my consciousness for the rest of my life.
Totally agree, all funerals i ever went to were a miserable experience, and not in the good grief-reducing or cathartic kind. It only makes things worse. Makes me pretty determined to directly order whoever has to organize it when I am kicking it to leave the whole thing out entirely. Get rid of my body for sanitary reasons, and that's it. No one has to be there for that, and those who actually want to remember me can do it better without, and have my stuff or photos to do it with. No grave, no nothing! It's all mostly an expensive scam anyway.
Me too- I lost my mom on October 4th and I was so shocked to watch this episode for the first time on the 8th. It’s so realistic to how people care for a couple minutes and then just leave you.
Red's emotion at 1:54:31 was actually real in my opinion. It's like he couldn't handle going back 2 that house and if he did then he'd go insane since he's stuck there most of the time. He was desperate 2 go anywhere but that house and I feel sry 4 him. (Red is literally my favorite character in DHMIS cuz he's the most aware of things that go on around him and also cuz I think he would have the potential 2 break the loop and put an end 2 whatevers pulling the strings in DHMIS.)
Pretty sure the most that Red Guy knows is that they are trapped. There’s a pretty nice theory about it all! The other elements that the characters are most aware of are the fakeness and the danger YellowGuy is the one attributed with the former in the theory, but Duck has completely refused the realities pressured onto him multiple times now. he’s probably connected with “knowing they’re in danger” from how much he, ykno, dies I’m just so happy they’re all fully realized characters now! Can’t decide who my favorite is bc of how much each member adds. It really is the three of them
@@sammygecko_ I really don't know since I'm not a hardcore DHMIS fan. I just personally think since he's the most aware, he could put an end 2 it. But idk 4 sure.
i don’t think they’re self aware, i just think they were forgotten or something. they seem to be in Leslie’s head or something, with the only way for Leslie to progress/accept what happened is to climb up that 5th flight of stairs after a hug from yellow guy.
27:52 This entire show is a masterpiece, but I cannot get over the transition to the Shepard’s Pie 😭😭 The creators just keep the audience guessing, it’s so good 👍 And 50:30 aldnekdnksndjejdb
I friggin love dhmis, and i was so sad to find i couldnt watch it on channel4 because im not in the uk, but when i saw this on youtube i literally started shaking with excitement, thank you so much for posting this for peeps like me who cant watch the show where its available.
i love the fact that if keeps referencing everything being a loop. that they are always being told how or what to do by something, that they are always in the same place, that yellow guy has memories of when he had gone up stairs before and met the bigger ones, but doesn't remember. it feels like duck is the only one oblivious to it, yellow guy is the only one with the answer, and red guy feels miserable with the current situation, and knows something ids wrong.
All three of them can tell when something is wrong, just in different ways. Red Guy is the first to call out stuff or be antagonistic to the teachers, but rarely does anything substantial. He knew the score when he and Roy ran the show, but now he feels trapped, confused and helpless. Yellow Guy seems to cryptically “get it” sometimes, but he’s too immature for it to stick. He’s easily distracted, and the teachers abuse this. Duck Guy knows when danger is coming and will usually be the first to point it out. As the only hired member of the cast, he may know more than he lets on - but unfortunately, he learned a long time ago not to go off-script.
A few details: - you can see Unemployed Brendan's script in the trash throughout later episodes - the paper that contains news about Green Ducks death mentions Warren the eagle getting fired - the apple that tries to sing but gets eaten by the twins falls off a tree in the background during Green Ducks funeral - you can see the house the show takes place in located in yellow guys ear implying the show takes place in his head - the business that warrens friends wouldn't invest in is the pizza place he's trying to convince the guys to visit for a restaurant style meal (one of the pamphlets he shows them is for "Worm Pizza") - Toddney and Lily's grandmother is actually the last person to serve as their mother, the tea they serve causes people to mutate - Roy can usually be seen when the weather gets stormy (he's one of the neighbors looking out the window during Yellow guys community fantasy) - the Green Duck that gets offed is surrounded by maggots meaning Stain duck is the one that lived -the picture with Dr. Bushman's diagnosis clearly show yellow guy is battery powered - the symbols on the book Leslie gives yellow guy appear through the entire show
Another good one is the recurring motif of there being multiple ducks Like when stain edwards replaces duck, in family when duck sings about being his own family and in electricity where Leslie talks about always having "extras". When she opens the draw though its all ducks
All Roy moments (that I atleast found) 0:21 in the walls 3:47 in the shack 50:56 in yellow guy's imagination 1:08:40 outside the window walking 1:09:09 standing in the door 1:40:41 Roy in the passing plane 1:40:49 on the flags 1:46:59 in a disguise 1:51:11 in one of the windows in the form of a picture 2:16:47 behind the white sheet So yeah that was all of the times I found Roy in the TV show. If you find more tell me it in the comments.
I’ve watched this at least once a day almost every day since October 2022. Hyper fixated is an understatement. So many Easter eggs I’m still finding new ones. I love this thank you so much for the upload
I can't be the only one who feels bad for Stain Edwards, right? Like, he was so wholesome, and he wanted to have a whole life, but Red Guy just forced him to be a replacement for Duck Guy because he refused to deal with his grief. It's sad :(
Idk if I missed something but I really couldn’t tell who killed who in the ep so if anything the rest of the show couldve been stain. Idk if that sounds stupid but I can’t stop thinking about it
@@dayarodriguez4068 Stain Edwards was a blob of clay-ish material, so despite being able to change form she would still be made of clay. The bird guy that got killed had blood and meat, no clay to be seen…
I notice new details every time I rewatch this. The amount of care and artistry put into this series is incredible. 01:19:40 - The pie chart and "nothing" being references to the original web series 01:27:15 - There's a decoration in the background that looks like Yellow's ear A lot more I can't remember off the top of my head. A lot of things that should've been obvious on the first viewing but flew over my head because there's just so much going on in every single frame, and so much to digest with the dialogue and the underlying themes. I love this show.
Roy may or may not be a toxic/abusive father but i really just want to think of him as a protective father who also has massive anger issues and sometimes (or well, most times) takes it out on his son. Still, he tries to protect his son.
I love how red guy goes “I guess we could share-“ and duck just goes “I WANT BOTH” after saying he was a father figure not a good father figure it seems😂
this show has had moments that have genuinely disturbed me and made me feel so uncomfortable, but it's still such a phenomenal and witty show. i love the direction they went from it and i really hope they continue.

1:54:34 "I'M NOT GOING BACK INTO THAT HOUSE!!" Felt that line from Red more than any others. He clearly has serious truama from being a prisoner in the house and that line is when it all boils over for him. And the tragedy is he both saw that "freedom" isn't any better than the guilded cage and didn't even get to choose which one to be in because Lesley throws him back in the prison anyway.
That's actually really simular to how a teenager with extremely strict parents would feel. Their parents just coddle them in a environment that never changes, and often once they leave to be on their own, they find that freedom isn't any better.
I like how they kind of approached death, they made it funny they also made it scary and sad and it was actually kind of wholesome with “stain” I really liked it. Stain kinda reminds me of a child who doesn’t really understand the concept of death and they are oblivious to what has happened
Y'know, I just had a theory. What if the episodes are told in a backwards, or at the very least out of order? Yellow guy has memories of when he was smart several episodes before the last, and the paper that Duck is reading in the second episode refers to a blackout and to the worm "fired for harassment". That could just be foreshadowing, which is most likely the case, but what bothers me is a little detail I noticed. In the last episode, Yellow guy accidentally knocks the head off of Duck's toy, which Lesley had. Presumably this is how she both controls their lives and revives them. I wonder if that has anything to do with why seemingly the papers believe Duck is dead? The only other time he dies in the series is the same episode where he reads the newspaper, and surely enough, his head gets chopped off. And as a side note, notice how when his head gets chopped off its full of organs, not clay like his clone is presumably made of. Just some thoughts.
This is such a cool theory it makes so much sense! It explains why yellow rambles about a dream he had and it sounds like what happened when he got the new batteries even though he wouldn't know about it yet. I wonder what order is the correct one? I feel like jobs could potentially still be the first one because as far as I know there aren't any references to future episodes although I could just be forgetting.
Or it could be sort of like a loop. There were pictures of the yellow guy going to those higher floors. It's probably happened before. He got smart before. But whenever any of them gets close to properly realizing the existencial nightmare they're trapped in and tries to escape it, it gets reset, essentially. We saw that Leslie has a bunch of them, which explains why it's all always "back to normal" at the start of every episode; think of the transport episode, where Red becomes aware that it's all wrong and is completely desperate to get out of the house, and they actually manage to do that but get stranded at the junkyard... and then Leslie just puts them back in the house and Red doesn't even reference the events in the next episode, as if his dread was suddenly gone. I mean even the house is spinning around at the start of each episode... going in circles..
The episode about family hit the uncomfortable spot in the uncanny valley so hard I couldn't look away. It's like a train crash in slow motion and I love it.
I'm happy how far this has gotten. I remember when it was just a scary video on UA-cam now it's a full show. it's amazing and I'm happy I've been here since the beginning

It seems that they’ve moved from gore horror to psychological horror and honestly I’m loving it
With hints of comedy
This could just be me. But I feel the reason why their as much gore as their was in the web series was because of limitations. But I dunno. It could just the me.
I think they use gore or implicated gore as a method of shock or to ramp up the tone of the show in the final act of an episode, which they don't commonly do and I appreciate that. Like you said they rely on psychological horror like in the first episode they live out their lives fully, only to realize they're still in the montage of a song that's yet to be finished. And that is brilliant.
It was always psycholgical
Well they used both in this series. But this gore is more humorous.
The Coffin was probably the only teacher who was doing his job and not try to intentionally torment the three and in fact, the roles were reversed
He felt like the “new guy” of the teachers who didn’t know what he was getting into. Maybe that’s why the other teachers torture them; they’re just fucking annoying

The book going into the shredder, seeing it take the last chance for these creatures to... I don't know, do *something,* it filled me with dread.
that part made me probably the most frustrated ive ever been when watching a series lol
but yeah it sucked that it just ended on a cliffhanger. a cool detail i also noticed is that in every episode, there's always one of them who's more slightly more sane/aware of the things happening around (like with duck in the first, red driving the car in transportation, and in the last episode)

The way I see it, the 'he's oblivious idea' is a misinterpretation of two of his main character traits:
*1.)* Red Guy is resistant to and questioning of a lot of the weirdness they deal with, with one exception; he will happily roll with whatever gets him the fuck out of the Nightmare House.

So they just slowly turn him into Duck until it leads to his death.

i agree although to be fair in ep 3 of the first series they do interact they were having a picnic so i wouldnt say they dont interact at all in the original
honestly this series really leans into the subtle and unintentional existential dread kid's shows used to give me.
All this existential dread is giving me acid flashbacks
I used to watch Upside Down Show and I used to hate opening doors that I can’t see the other side of and I didn’t think it would be connected
i used to watch the upside down show too, i loved that show but it always gave me an uncomfortable feeling when the rooms they would go in also had puppets or other dimensional aspects to it, making it seem like their world is just all a facade in a way, and at the end of each episode then they would find their way into the real world
Shane and David experience existential dread for the very first time!
Oh my god shut up
As someone who's done puppetry professionally, it's worth noting that the level of personality and emotion they're getting out of the main characters is *extremely* hard to do, especially since they aren't using the Muppet style of overly animated or energetic movement, or with any moving parts other than arms and mouth. Mad respect for the puppeteers and puppet masters
Ikr I aspire for that level of expression and precision. Incredible how skilled the team behind this is, wish it was more recognized
Duck Guy’s eyelids do move, but other than that, they are pretty simple puppets.
i think that’s less of the puppeteering and more based on the writing. the script and pacing of the show fit the lack of facial dynamic, etc.

Get rid of my body for sanitary reasons, and that's it. i don’t think they’re self aware, i just think they were forgotten or something. they seem to be in Leslie’s head or something, with the only way for Leslie to progress/accept what happened is to climb up that 5th flight of stairs after a hug from yellow guy.

Found family just isn't complete without at least two members beating the shit out of each other
w- i'M DEALING WITH IT!!!
The closeup of duck saying “you ruined it! I’m never gonna see that skeleton!!” 😂 always cracks me up
In transport red guy's voice actor played the part so well it's genuinely sounded like the voice actor was experiencing actual pain tbh

This entire show is a masterpiece, but I cannot get over the transition to the Shepard’s Pie 😭😭 The creators just keep the audience guessing, it’s so good 👍

Such a masterpiece throughout but at 1:11:37 “we live in an actual niGHTMAAAARE” had me completely dead laughing

This might be my favorite part of the entire series. I love every bit of this series, but that bit made me burst into literal outrageous laughter
Only thing about this I don't like is they took away that auto-tune effect from duck's voice. Other than that, I love it
That isn't an effect, the voice actor can just do that with his voice! You can see him doing it on an interview

Red Guy's "You alright?" Gets funnier everytime he says it, lmao.
when does he say that
25:40 within the following scenes
Just a normal British greeting. Yulroi?
i love the fact that if keeps referencing everything being a loop. that they are always being told how or what to do by something, that they are always in the same place, that yellow guy has memories of when he had gone up stairs before and met the bigger ones, but doesn't remember. it feels like duck is the only one oblivious to it, yellow guy is the only one with the answer, and red guy feels miserable with the current situation, and knows something ids wrong.
@@TheSpaceCommunist that last part, were you referring to the first episode 5?
Duck telling yellow the military is invincible and insisting that he's far too weak to join is the funniest thing to me
A few details:
- you can see Unemployed Brendan's script in the trash throughout later episodes
- the paper that contains news about Green Ducks death mentions Warren the eagle getting fired
- the apple that tries to sing but gets eaten by the twins falls off a tree in the background during Green Ducks funeral
- you can see the house the show takes place in located in yellow guys ear implying the show takes place in his head
- the business that warrens friends wouldn't invest in is the pizza place he's trying to convince the guys to visit for a restaurant style meal (one of the pamphlets he shows them is for "Worm Pizza")
- Toddney and Lily's grandmother is actually the last person to serve as their mother, the tea they serve causes people to mutate
- Roy can usually be seen when the weather gets stormy (he's one of the neighbors looking out the window during Yellow guys community fantasy)
- the Green Duck that gets offed is surrounded by maggots meaning Stain duck is the one that lived
-the picture with Dr. Bushman's diagnosis clearly show yellow guy is battery powered
- the symbols on the book Leslie gives yellow guy appear through the entire show
Another good one is the recurring motif of there being multiple ducks
Like when stain edwards replaces duck, in family when duck sings about being his own family and in electricity where Leslie talks about always having "extras". When she opens the draw though its all ducks
You deserve an award for this. Thank you
Thank you!
Someone should make time stamps for all these.
Do u have a time stamp for the house being in yellow guy's ear?
Red saying "Yeah, but I don't want it" at 29:23 sounds so real and genuine lol
11:42 the red guy yelling “BYEEE” was so unexpected yet so hilarious for some reason
All Roy moments (that I atleast found)
0:21 in the walls
3:47 in the shack
50:56 in yellow guy's imagination
1:08:40 outside the window walking
1:09:09 standing in the door
1:40:41 Roy in the passing plane
1:40:49 on the flags
1:46:59 in a disguise
1:51:11 in one of the windows in the form of a picture
2:16:47 behind the white sheet
So yeah that was all of the times I found Roy in the TV show. If you find more tell me it in the comments.

2 HOURS OF DONT HUG ME IM SCARED CONTENT. THIS IS BEST THING THATS EVER HAPPENED TO ME.
1:09:08 I like how in this show the dad actually cares and shows up to save yellow guy, in his own weird way.
i thinked his dad was abusive untill that scene
He didn't truly care since Roy pushed yellow away and yellow was better with the other two otherwise he would want to stay with Roy
I think he just wanted the chicken considering the camera got close to the bucket and he kept saying yum
@@aNOMnimus doesn't that kind of add to caring to some extent? The dad might not even know how to comfort him but it seems like this was helping him
Roy may or may not be a toxic/abusive father but i really just want to think of him as a protective father who also has massive anger issues and sometimes (or well, most times) takes it out on his son. Still, he tries to protect his son.

"I'M NOT GOING BACK INTO THAT HOUSE!!"
Felt that line from Red more than any others.
This theory makes a lot of sense it could even be Canon
:0
@@efoxkitsune9493 This is a really good analyst! Both theories definitely have grounds to work on.
