A couple of table saw tips: It is okay to cut aluminum with a wood cutting blade. Picture frame shops do it all the time with metal frames. Use a mixture of soapy water to lube the blade a bit and make the cutting easier and not wear the blade as much. Also, when cutting the rounded edges off the 2 x 4, it is safer to have the piece you keep be between the fence and the blade.
Thanks for the tips!
The panel you've made is really cool,
But what's really impressed me was how smartly you worked.
Logical, and efficient.
I really enjoyed watching that.
This is a fun watch! Very entertaining.
This is one of the coolest projects I have ever seen and does not seem too hard to do! Thank you!!
Love the end clarifications, love the salt process, love it all so what else to say 🤜🏻🤛🏻 YOU RE GREAT AS ALWAYS MAN
Thank you dude! You're too kind
I agree with you hes great
same concept in model buuilding for winter camo and paint chipping we all used salt.😋
That turned out so cool! I'm super excited to see what you do with that helmet!
Thanks Jared! yeah that helmet is going to be rad!
Very Nice looking panel although aluminum don't rust but it does corrode.
So dope! Man I can’t say enough how much I learn from your videos
Love it! Thanks for walking us through the process 👍 😊
Thank you Sparky! This video defiantly ate some of my brain cells. That was a lot of voice over work for me HA!
Another amazing project!! Always happy I subscribed
Thank you for your support!
Dude.. amazing.
Great work. Great techniques! We can use these for SO many things!
Absolutely! I would love to do something similar on an old truck or something
Excellent!
I liked your idea. Historically accurate elements great creative project. Nice.
Good work. Thanks for the video.
This looks really cool, nice work.
Thanks a lot Richard! Thanks for the support
You inspired me to do a shark mouth on my car.
This is an awesome video looking to do something similar on a car part and this video is the perfect guide to get me started
Cool art piece!
Thank you so much 😀
Very nice job!
Absolutely epic
Great video and amazing work! 😊
Thank you Amy! 😄
Cool video, nicely produced. Art piece is awesome, always loved the tiger shark motif. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Thank you very much! tiger shark mouth plane art is so cool. Thanks for watching
This is awesome, some serious talent right there 🙌
Thanks Dean, your new mallet video came out great, guess i should go over there and tell you that!
true I agree with you hes great talent
Creative skillful job my friend! Looks fantastic :) Enjoyable tutorial! 😍👌🔥👍
Thank you so much 😀
Dang, that was so rad. Definitely going to try this! Cheers!
Thanks!
That looks so cool!
I appreciate it thank you
That's brilliant....I need a garage so bad. Awesome piece.....😃
Thanks! Yeah having some creative space is so helpful. I can start a project and walk away from it while it drys without having to put it away
Awesome man! Love ur artist style and great video editing!!! Glad to see that airbrush getting some usage.
Thank you! I did a helmet with that air brush (video coming soon) and it was a struggle. I might need to look into a higher quality one or more practice... a true craftsman blames his tools Ha!
Iron Gordon - Art Excited to see it 🤘🏻 I’m painting my first motorcycle, just the front fairing. And it’s been a struggle too. Had to redo it 3 times now, not my fault, bad primer 😉. I’ll have a video on it as well if I ever get it done 😂 PS- the best quality and value for airbrushes I have found to be the GSI Creos brand. If u check out my last video, Spraygunner unboxing, I have links in the description to the 3 GSI Creos’ that I have and highly recommend.
super cool dude 🔥 thx!
Just awesome! This vid motivated me!!! Gracz
Awesome! Thank you!
Nearly at 20k mate awesome 👌👍👍👍
So close! Thanks for your support!
Bro... that's came out awesome. The salt trick is genius and the rusting looks amazing. You gave so many great tips in this video! Thanks!
Thank you! The salt trick comes in clutch quite a bit for me.
The salt trick has been used by model makers and miniature railway fans for decades.
your art is cool love it
Hey Luis! thanks
Awesome work, big fan of the old air plane art. Would recommend maybe using pallet wood on the frame next time since it would already be distressed.
Please upload more projects!
I think it looks much better without the frame !!
awesome job...
appreciate it!
A method I like for built holes is similar but I like to do it after it's painted so the paint chips around the hole also if you have the equipment and live in the right area you can just make real built holes
Yer that was an awesome clip.
Really nice!
Thank you Turd!
Hey great video, thanks for the salt trick, I’ve never see that before and cool process on distressing. Did I miss why you cut the channel on the outside of your frame? Maybe on a test sometime on one of your next ones rivets would look authentic too
I 2nd James Lilly about having your work piece in between the blade and the fence, but your project looks awesome. I know you’re not asking for suggestions but I also agree with the pallet wood suggestion, and if you could look for one that had some kind of ink stamp like many do, or a shipping crate stamp, wow that would put this already excellent project over the top. Keep it up.
Another ultra creative piece described in a well produced video, Gordon! I’ve enjoyed using some of your tips in my COVID19 projects. Masking is somewhat challenging, as you really need to think it through carefully, but I’m enjoying the learning process. I’ll email a couple photos when my projects are finished, and a guitar body as soon as I can get gigging again ( looks like july😟).
Thank you Shrimp! Covid has been a solid time to learn some new tricks for sure! please send me some snaps when you wrap up your guitar stuff
Very good
Thanks!
Awesome!
Thanks!
Like it! 👍
That's a cool pease!!!
Thank you! Want to paint a tiger mouth in your Jeep Rod? 🤘👊
Wow cool man, I may use this design to make my BMX helmet a bit cooler. Have a nice dayy 👋🏻
Yeah that would look really cool! thanks for watching if you decide to do something find me on Instagram and send me a pic
i can fraw but i perfer my shilouette cameo vinyl cutter to make my paulint masks. works great.
Always gott have pepper with the salt. Now....do you put that salt back in your shakers before diner?
Never over season your art, it's in poor taste.
@@IronGordon LOL
Amazing project! I would like to know where to get the 3m masking roll. Thank you and great video
That looks awesome! Going to give it a try as I am an aviation buff and some panels like that would look great in my workshop. Just something to note, aircraft are made of aluminum, aluminum doesn't rust. Also, you would have been right to use the stencil for the bombs as thats how they did them in the field when putting on kill and bomb markings and they never looked perfect.
He said in the Q&A at the end that he knows aluminum doesn't rust, but thinks it looks cooler than corrosion.
Thanks for watching till the end!
Thank You! I defiantly want to make some different variations of nose art panels.
Yeah the aluminum rusting/weathering is a stretch I just like the way it looks
The stencil thing is a good point, I wanted the layout to look more intentional and the lines to be crisp. Thanks for watching, good luck with your projects!
The only thing is that the planes were made of aluminum, not steel so it would not rust brown and red/ orange if at all
How long did you wait between paint and covering that paint with masking paper? I just tried a similar project thinking plasti dip would work. It did not. Even though the masking paper isn't very sticky, it pulled the plasti dip up. Trying to find out a safe time to apply and remove masking paper to paint without damaging the fresh paint. Thanks, and great job!
Any ideas on how to get panel line without table saw?
looks great... An idea... what if you turned it 90 degrees before "weathering it" since when we fly the streaks would be that way
Good call! The thinking behind the drips is more of the aesthetic that the plane has been sitting, not being used.
Iron Gordon - Art amazing work!
You placed a dado around the outside of the frame. What was it for?
Definitely need better nose art, not saying at all that this is bad. It damn great. However, the shark teeth and bomb type thing is over done by pretty much everyone. Maybe “Detroit miss,” or something similar would be cool. Definitely gonna try this with different planes.
Found your channel in the Grand Canyon visitor center bathroom😂
HA! i mail out free stickers from time to time so its always funny to see where they end up. Thanks for letting me know!
Iron Gordon - Art no problem
wouldn't it be more fun to shoot the panel for the bullet holes? Like have real ones?
Go easy.
What was the thickness of the aluminium?
that would be a great riot shield
Is it possible to do this as a guitar finish?
Yeah! I thought it would look killer as a guitar. I'm low-key waiting for someone to commission me to do one fro them haha
I rele like shak pant
Once I was done with it I just shot at it.... I don't recommend it but it looks pretty realistic 😂
Edit: it was a lot of fun though
Funny because I made another one of these a few years back and I really shot it to get the bullet holes ua-cam.com/video/Si3KwE--tSs/v-deo.html
Waay more fun haha!
@@IronGordon that's amazing! Hahah :D
Fuckin tight good video
Awesome glad you liked it!
The allies thought that a shark's mouth on the front of an airplane would scale the enemy into surrerndering. it didn't work too well.
End clarifications......... it’s an art piece, it looks cool, just enjoy it ... or don’t. Either way it’s ok.
that's a solid summery ha ha Thanks!
Where can I buy one
I made this for a client, if your interested in one email me at irongordonart@gmail.com

Where's the gatling gun
First
I know about artistic license, but the "rivets" should be flush and not domed.
As an Australian I just assumed all Americans have guns to make real bullet holes?
Ha! we do, I used a drill for my international audience
Mouth and eye not worn to the same degree as background. Aluminum does not rust.. No debris dings on the aluminum panel, all give-aways that scream phony. There are other items..otherwise ok.
All things I mentioned, see what happens when you don’t watch the entire video Jeff.
False assumption; I watched the video twice. Would you like a more detailed review ? Be glad to oblige. Good idea, poor execution. In spite of that, I gave you a thumbs up. You are welcome.

Good work my dude!
