    Love the "chuck" method for removing studs - great tip! I have been doing the "2 nut" method for years 😀

    Mate, you're absolutely right about the "stage" idea of modification being meaningless other than as an arbitrary pricing structure. Not only doesn't it really tell you anything, but every shop's idea of what constitutes a "stage" isn't consistent either. Handy if you like to buy your mods out of a catalogue...but I prefer to discuss the mods I require and work out the pricing with the boss on a bespoke basis, rather than giving the shop a dollar amount and finding out how much work that'll buy me.

      exactly that friend. Stages = markiteering wankoligy

    These mechanical directions are fantastic. Especially on A type BMC engines.

    I love that you make and use tools out of scrap and logic to do the work when the single use tools fail. I’m just about to strip and build a head so have made a similar attachment for the drill press so you just saved me $50 on a valve compression tool!! Awesome video as always.

    Looking at this video I was amazed to see how much A series cylinder heads had improved. Back in my racing days, the very early 1960s, those chambers would only have been seen on a top racer. A very informative basic video, looking forward to the rest of the series.

    Another quality video. I like the drill press technique, I ended up making a little bracket thing that would compress two of the springs at a time while tightening a nut on the rocker studs. Funny story, first time I worked on a Mini, I wanted to replace the valve seals to stop the blue smoke and tried to use the process I'd used before on my old Dodge V8. Put compressed air into the cylinder to hold the valve in place and compress the spring to remove the collets. I wasn't looking that close on the design and found the hard way this doesn't work and I blew the head gasket. Oh well, it's not that big of a job. Thanks again

      @HREIRL  2 роки тому

    Just wanted to say yes its great to see the detailed engine stuff. The gearbox stuff is still interesting, but as a Morris Minor owner all the engine, ignition and carb stuff is excellent information. A lot of Morris Minor owners either have a full 1275 engine (albeit the MG Midget or even the Morris Marina block with the oil filter on the block) and some the 1275 head on a 1098 block.

    Great video. Just isn't one of the things, that are good to check, to verify head thickness? If it was not resurfaced before, so in the future we won't be in dead end if such action would be required?
