thank you very much Jamie Hamel-Smith, now I'm very close to a realistic forest, Is there a way to rotate and scale or at least rotate randomly the instance?
That is very neat, however, couldn't you also use your tree in the hair mode as well? Using the instance tab in the Hairs options, it should allow you to use this. From there you would have access to scale, density, and even have dynamics built in for a cool effect.
Excellent suggestion. Yes I think it can be done in the way you describe. However, not all of us have the Studio version of Cinema 4D. This method works for most versions of Cinema 4D (I'm not sure about the Broadcast Edition however).
Thanks for this insight. Do you think it would be possible to use this technique to place a label on a bottle and move it around the outre glass surface? Naturally, I'm going to try it, but wondered if you knew or had suggestions. The bottle inquestion has complex curves, rather than just cylindrical sides.. Many thanks
Jamie Hamel-Smith Thank you. Neither seems to be very good at retaining the integrity of surface and label. I must be missing a trick. But thanks for your help
Love you brother :) there are also option for align and rotation as surface : if your landscape is curved or sphere then your tree should be align to your surface :)
That's not really relevant to this video, but I'll try to help anyway. It sounds like you need to combine the objects with a Boolean or simply clean up and delete the geometry that's inside of the object. I was never really able to get into Blender, so I can't give you specifics.
I'm sorry, but I'm not the right person to instruct you on that sort of 3D stuff. Character animation is pretty complex and I've stayed away from it for the most part. Have you considered using some freely available motion capture data?
Hi, I saw your five minute tip-constraining objects tot a surface in Cinema 4D. I wondered if there is a possibility to constrain a group of trees on a service. I tried to do that, but I am afraid that it is only possible to do this one by one. If you know a method to place a group of trees as a hole, please let me know. with regards M.bos Cinema 4D user Netherlands
can you show me how to make a my 3d rigged character pick up a weapon such as a gun and then walk around with it in his hand and then put it down? Plz help! im using c4d r14
One of the best explained tutorials I've seen so far.
You talk like an angel, all tutorials should have your voice! :)
Hi Jamie this is a great tip, and if you use on the Align "As - Normal Phong"the object also rotates to the poligon normal.
Thank you -- this is Exactly the question I wanted to as next!
I was just about to post this
I freaking love you
That's great! I'm really glad it made your work a bit easier.
That is awesome Jamie! I had no idea how to do that. Thanks for the powerful simple tip!
No worries, happy to help!
This was so very helpful. Thank you!

Couldn't thank you more sir for demonstrating the top technique but with a explanation for dummies
Very thanks for the tip Jamie !

QUESTION! I did the exact same thing as you, but my trees clamp to the inside of my landscape. How do I... make that right?
You just saved my life! had to place gems on jewelry and it worked soooo fine!

Maybe, but maybe not. I think what you're looking for is something more like this: ua-cam.com/video/hGQam3x5jwE/v-deo.html#t=223

What about the free DropToFloor plugin? Is that not as good?
Is there a way to have your objects adjust their rotation based on the normals of the object they are being constrained to?
+Matthew Bowden I think there's an alignment option for that, yes.
You are a genius!! This is great, I want to know this
This is great tip! thanks!
I know the video is old, but is there a way that I can paint f. Ex. trees like in unity, or grass? Would be cool
This was helpful. Thanks a lot!
GREAT!!! Please do more on the others specially Spring and mirror
Great tip. Thanks!
Any insight how to execute this with a random effector and cloner object?
+John Kyles It sounds like you need this one: ua-cam.com/video/J9QPsabSwyA/v-deo.html
How did you switch between open projects? Thank you so much for the tutorial btw
Thanks man, so great tip!
this was incredibly helpful thank you
Good Stuff .. Very Useful !!!

wonderful
Thanks man !!
thank you.
Terrific.
I don't know why c4d hasn't a paint tool to put objects on the scene.
Maya has this sort of tool for years.

cool! thx!
You say" clamp" really cool
+Samuel Radue hehe, thanks. I've got a bit of a Trinidadian accent.
thank you kind soul
You can do it quickly using plugin Target 4D

Thanks again MAN
why i not saw this tip earlier !!!
Does anyone know how to constraint a walk cycle to a surface?
good, someone who knows this plugin AND english....
Tutorial begins at 1:54
No, no, no, no!
It starts at the beginning of the video silly!
