  • Pauper is a format where you get to play all the most broken spells, but with some pretty average creatures. But some spells are too strong, even for Pauper. What if we played them?

      Edit: WRONG !! The correct odds are 1 in 60 000 as pointed out by @wiener_process and @robinthesongbird1778
      Edit 2: WRONG WRONG !!! Thoralf sideboarded an island before the match so the odds are actually 1 in 113 000

    • @PiquantPan
      @PiquantPan 11 місяців тому +25

      @krimhorn 11 місяців тому +9

      @@PiquantPan Yeah, if I'm remembering my stats right it's closer to 20%. He's got 8 cards out of the deck at the time of Ponder and he's got 1 land of 21 total. So the odds of 3 lands off Ponder is (20/52 * 19/51 * 18/50) or about 5%. The odds of two lands in a row after the shuffle is (20/52 * 19/51) or about 14%. Add those together for the total probability and it's 19.48%

    • @SmolGawblin
      @SmolGawblin 11 місяців тому +21

    Can we all stop and appreciate how expertly Thoralf navigated that grapeshot into double lightning bolt?
    It's so tempting to try and fire off those bolts earlier to get extra storm triggers. But had he done it in any other order, Jamin would have had choices and may have been able to keep a creature in play. The way it was sequenced, having perfect knowledge of Jamin's hand, perfectly cleared the board no matter what.
    It also might have been tempting to attack for 5 + 6 from two bolts and another 5 from grapeshot to the dome. But the crack back was in hand, exactly lethal.
    I could see an argument for attacking for 4, leaving a single blocker but you give Jamin so many outs off the top. Definitely better to clear and win on the ground.
    Very impressive and probably not obvious! It just looked like Thoralf had it all, but he only had it all because he found the optimal line in a sea of options. And for that, I tip my hat.

      Can you explain to me why his myr died? It was given protection from red.

    • @TuberTugger
      @TuberTugger 10 місяців тому +11

      @@ttvTheSquizz I never got the protection. He responded by killing it again, before the protection resolved.
      It's a little confusing because they let one of the grapeshot copies resolve but left the last point stay on the stack.
      Then it was pump, respond damage again, respond protection, respond damage a third time. The 2nd bolt was played last so it resolves first, killing the myr and fizzling/countering all the other cast spells.

    I dont know if you take suggestions but I would love to see a video where all of you choose a card you think is underrated in one format and build a deck around it to fight each other. Anyways I loved the video!

    Love me some pauper! Would love to see this with the chatterstorm relay version of storm (or if you’re feeling especially mean, sinkhole/hymn to tourach prison initiative)
