I got back to Drumz in 2017 after almost 20 years away and was abusing the hell out of the Paradiddle diddle! 😢😂 and of course the five stroke roll when playing James Brown style Funk.

Couldn't you just displace them slightly to keep them in a straight pattern. Example, ie beat 3 could be 3& and beat 4 could 4e&a. So the parra would be on beat 3 and the dittos would be on beat 4. Would that work ? Thanks
Thanks for your comment! Not totally sure what you’re asking, but you can certainly start this pattern anywhere in the measure. Once you get comfortable with the pattern you can drop in and out of it wherever you want. I hope that helps!

Kind of. I really think of them as different because of the order. But yes, technically they both are six notes.
