Visiting the Willamette Mall from Dead Rising in VR. It's kinda spooky in person, and for some reason many of the lights are out. Join the Discord: / discord
Dead Rising is such an important game to me. When this came out, my dad had just completed military bootcamp and the first thing he did when he got home was buy a 360 and a copy of this game. We spent so many sleepless nights not even playing the main story, just exploring the many nooks and crannys of the mall and killing every zombie in sight. It was extremely memorable to me not only because Dead Rising was such an impressive game at the time, but also because I was able to spend time with my Dad for the first time in months.
No one ever talks about how much detail and how clean dead rising 1 looked. Every single inch of the mall looks put for a reason. Everything looks like how a architect would make a mall. From the layout, the choice of materials, the lighting, the stores. Everything
From what I heard capcom had people scoop out other us malls with some pretty much looking identical to real life, even shopping center over here in Ireland reminded me of dead rising actually
Nothing to do but kill time at the mall… One of my favorite tidbits about Dead Rising, the people that made Dawn of The Dead tried to sue Capcom over copyright infringement, but the case got thrown out because the court said no one owned the concept of zombies being in a mall…
late comment, but is that somehow tied into why there is that disclaimer on the box of the game talking about how it is not created by or associated with dawn of the dead?
That map is actually built to scale you just picked a short player model so if you do more vrchat stuff in the future you might want to go with a human model if you don’t want to feel short :)
@@ScheelAngel yeah I’ve watch a lot of people play vrchat and that’s such a cool mechanic! Also did you know you can download mods for Garry’s mod to make your playermodel view accurately scaled in gmod!
OMG I had just started playing VRChat a good bit ago, there's a lot of comfy and also horror related content on there and I thought it'd be perfect for the type of content you put out. I'm glad to see you playing it!
33:27 So, the zombie kill count was 53594, the population of Willamette. You got it by heading to the underground garage network, hoping in a truck, and just driving circles nonstop. It was basically a whole playthrough. But doing it got you MegaMan’s Mega Buster. A 300 shot, 1-hit kills-most gun. Got it my second cycle through, then breezed through the story in the 3rd.
As a kid I thought the old lady who let her dog in causing the zombies to get in was so dumb but at the age of 21 I realized how I would have done the same thing for my dog. I love my dog
Man this game holds a special place in my heart. I remember your first real boss fight was the Convicts with that badass song Gone Guru by Lifeseeker playing in the background, I ran away like a coward the first time I came across them lol. Then I learned about Adam's Chainsaw and the 3 books and how it could carry you through the game. Then I finally unlocked the real megablaster, trying to get the 7 day survivor achievement, man I love this game!
I just woke up an hour ago after a rough night. It's 1PM. Just got my breakfast and I'm about to re-watch the House Flipper video because I miss Igor. -New Librarian Video- You sir, have a follower for life in me. ♡ Edit: NEVER MIND I'M WATCHING A NEW LIBRARIAN VIDEO *AND* THE HOUSE FLIPPER VIDEO AT THE SAME TIME THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER
I'm really surprised how long it took you to do a VRChat explore video. There's some pretty good ones out there (however, some also being not well optimized) to explore.
27:50 What perfect timing, a random invisible mirror (not on a wall mind you) just to jumpscare yourself into doing an accurate camera recreation. Speaking of, for some reason, people on VRChat *love* to see their avatar in a mirror... despite their purpose probably being just like a regular mirror, seeing yourself the way other people would see you.
Hey man your content is amazing. I met you through Chilla's Art gameplays and I really liked the style of your channel. What do you think about playing Bioshock? It's a masterpiece of gaming history. It's an FPS and although it's not exactly a horror game it has a lot of creepy parts. (just a suggestion) Anyway, wish you success, greetings from Portugal.
You blew up man with these type of videos. I remember when you was under 10k subs! I honestly had debated doing content like this as well...than I came across your channel. Keep it up man!
A POV of being able to walk around the mall from DR1? They are probably going to do DR2's Casino (Most likley DR2 Off The Record's version because it has an additional zone) next.
Finally, I have been hoping to see you explore VRChat for MONTHS now, there are SO many possible maps to fit cozy/creepy vibes, RP maps, games, etc. I will say results will vary greatly, some maps have such an immense amount of detail, interactivity, and exploration, while some are very simple and basic. Overall finding maps where its 1 per video could be tough at times, so hope to see videos with a few maps in 1.
Also small note to add, what may help you with recording is the VRChat built in camera system, I know it can do some amazing recording and given it has the ability to be controlled independent of your body can allow so much
8:35 it's not that the map isn't to scale, you're just using a teeny tiny avatar seems like. avatars come in such a wide size range in vrchat, you can end up being just a couple inches tall or several meters tall. Also yeah this is probably ported from the actual game, many VRC maps are ports
Hey Librarian! Love the content! If you ever need recommendations for more VRChat worlds to explore I highly recommend both "Organism" and "Epilogue Chapter 1" both made by the same creator. Thanks!
Just the other day I was thinking how cool it would be if the Librarian tried VRChat, and here we are I'm really glad you gave VRChat a try, this game really has a lot of worlds to explore and all sorts of vr experiences, which probably makes it the most content-rich vr game In the comments already suggested about the in-game camera. But I want to point out that most of the worlds here are not as big as in Garry's mod, but it differs well in that they can contain a a lot of interactivity. And in addition to try this or that experience with friends without any problems, which makes it even more interesting I'm really looking forward of this series from you
VRchat certainly does have a lot of potential. It's full of mostly harmless weirdos (bless them, they're fun to talk to and hang with), but I only played a short time. I kept finding lobbies that had very, very young children in them among adults discussing extremely graphic and adult conversations. The devs need to do something about that, I have no idea what even could be done about that, but it's concerning. Ideally parents should be... well... parents, and not treat the internet as a babysitter, but if they won't protect their own kids then I think we all have some kind of responsibility and so do the devs. I found a lobby with a little girl in it who said she was 7 years old, and her avatar was very, uh, graphic. I was shocked at how often I encountered situations like this, granted, it wasn't every lobby, but probably every 10 or so lobbies I joined would have a small child in it talking to grown adults about some uncomfortable things. It's a shame, because VRchat as a platform is extremely cool.
Hey, thanks for checking out my port. Super honoured that your first and only VRC video is my world. Would love to answer any questions you might have had about the port.
Hello, I'm porting the map over for use in Blade and sorcery, I've got the main geometry, textures and stuff but It's lacking the roller coaster and the clock spinning in entrance plaza, Do you'd be kind enough to send me the model/Animation file you used, I've seen that its hard to import anims from MT framework games and It'd top the mall off. Thanks.
"Willamette Colorado, Population 53,594!" It's so fun Seeing this mall in VR, that a new updated map is coming via the Remaster. Dead Rising holds a Special place in my heart. I cannot wait to play through the game as if were 2006 again.
I wish to you explore VR Chat original map (not port or remake), There are bunch of maps you might interest in. Maybe You can start from the world called Organism.
The "yellow lego men" are small robots from megaman legends. I actually recommend it for some if the creepy and cozy stuff in it and the games lore. Edit: granted its not that creepy, but it has it's moments.
I used to goof off with my friends on this game I had a long charging block so he’d bring his Xbox and we would play this not playing the story just shredding and exploring.
One of the first games that come to my mind when I think of the 7th gen will always be the Original Dead Rising. The mall ceiling with the shadows on the floor is so iconic to me.
I just went through ALL of this mall in VRChat as well, I was seeing who had on youtube done it too. Took me almost an hour to find everything. I've never played Dead rising and I googled Willamette Mall and yeah it's a real mall, I was thinking it was just some fan recreation but when I saw the blood in 1 section, that makes way more sense now.
1. When I read the description upon my initial exploration of this map, it seemed to imply it was a direct port of some sort, which would explain why it's very faithful for the most part. It was a really well done port at that. 2. As for other VRChat Worlds to check out, I'd definitely say you should give Organism a go. That is literally one of the best looking maps in the entire game, and is also very heavily rooted in Liminal Spaces.
I believe this map was ripped straight from the game with some edits done on textures as in the past i know i was able to rip this map from gmod and port it into vrc back in 2015 but this version is definitely a lot less scuffed then the version i uploaded lol. That was mainly cause i didnt know how to fix the texture issues in the past, Love watching your videos and seeing all the places you explore in vr.
I don’t know if you’ve checked out thief 2 and Dark Mod. Some of the fan missions are really good. They have that creepy/comfy content that fits your channel really well.
I know this is older but payday 2's enemy count is one that impressed me, 1000s of cops with more than just rudamentary ai all running on a racing game engine
I just started playing the rehashed version of this game on ps4 for christmas, and its one of my favorite games. It doesn't have the nostaligc drive like the rest of you since I was 2 when this game came out but I still enjoy it
please do more vrchat videos!!!! theres so much to go through!! itd be super interesting to see you play a vrchat horrorgame my partner and i were playing one once it was called "the smile room" i think?? turned into a pt clone but we ended up wussing out and hopping to another world LMAO
oh this is a new game to explore maps, I was exploring a VR chat map late at night there was literally nobody on it was so creepy but then a player came in with a jump scare avatar and I freaked the hell out so loud I'm pretty sure someone filed a noise complaint at me haha
I thinks your content is so underrated. Such unique and solid takes on settings and environments. Really makes me reconsider game design and atmosphere. You sir deserve a medal.

The maps to scale this guy is just 4'6
It’s his a avatar every avatar in vrchat changes what height you see from
Dead rising reminded me of dawn of the dead(78) because of the heavy mall setting even though the zombies were different.
So it does exist Vr chat I kept asking myself if you could explore anything nowadays then why not the Willamette mall
This is pretty amazing. I should know. I've covered wars you know.
About the scale.. It is affected by the character you use. If you pick a small character, then everything will look much bigger.
