    Cutting potassium out of your diet can be a lifesaver if you have kidney disease. The kidneys are meant to filter out blood and remove waste through your urine. This also includes potassium. And there is no food more synonymous with potassium than the banana.
    Spinach
    Let’s talk about oxalates. Oxalates are a natural compound found in various foods. Calcium oxalate is found in 80% of kidney stones. If you have kidney stones, it is recommended that you consume around 40 to 50 mg of oxalates a day. Spinach might be a food you want to avoid considering it contains around 100 mg per serving.
    Soda
    Soda leads into our third big nutrient of the video, phosphorus.
    Phosphorus is a key mineral of the human body. While it only comprises about 1% of your body weight, phosphorus is responsible for the formation of your bones and teeth. A healthy adult is recommended to consume between 800 mg - 1200 mg per day. Additional phosphorus is not ideal for your health. In fact, the average can of cola holds somewhere between 50 - 100mg of additive phosphorus in each can. If you happen to be a regular soda drinker, that’s something to be mindful of.
    Avocado
    On a menu of healthy food, avocado is normally at the top. They might taste delicious, but if you have kidney problems, they might not be for you.
    When a person is suffering from kidney disease, they need to stay aware of their potassium intake. A person with healthy kidneys is recommended around 4700 mg of potassium each day. But if your kidneys are in pain, you should have only 1500 - 2700 mg. This means cutting down on potassium-filled foods like avocados as one holds 975 mg of potassium.

    Keep in mind these are only foods to avoid if you already have kidney problems. Otherwise, most are healthy in moderation.
