  • Heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest are both serious medical emergencies, but they are not the same thing. A heart attack happens when blood flow to the heart is blocked. A cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating. The only way to save a person’s life is to restart the heart using CPR and an AED. In this episode of House Calls: Real Docs, Real Talk, Dr. Eduardo Sanchez explains what happens to the heart during a heart attack, how cardiac arrest and heart attack are different and what to do in case of either emergency.
