I smoked out with Marzi back stage for an hour once. Dude's genuine and plays from the soul. I remember one line he told me, "every fucking note matters, don't pretend one is less important than any other."
Yes! Buck Chilly!! Chuck would want to have something other than coffee though! "It's a plant man, it's not a drug!!" I CAN say I've been lucky enough to "hang" with Testament! Cool people! And great musicians!! Newport Lounge in Columbus Ohio - I know a secret way into the headliner's green room, which I'll not divulge, coz it still works for me!! 😉😎🤘 V⚡🏴

What an awesome dude! It's always nice to find out that people you look up to really deserve their place. It's just like you, Ola. Like he said "it couldn't happen to a better guy". It's just awesome to know that people like Marzi and yourself are just great people who are nice, who earned what they've got, appreciate what they've earned, and haven't developed oversized egos.
Great interview!!! I'm from the New Orleans area and I got to see Marzi play his first show with Exhorder at Southport Hall. It was insane!!!!!!! I also got to play on stage with Kyle Thomas at a benefit show for the Houston floods at a club in NOLA. Kyle is such a great singer and performer. I got to hear Kyle sing a variety of cover songs and he was nailing everything that night.
Exhorders sound... The Godfather! IMHO Paved the way for Dimes. Vinnie My fave guitar player props bro! However at the end ov the day.... it all comes back to Sabbath!! \m/
Thrown into a fire...I got that. Had to learn 25 songs, solos note for note, in 13 days to help a friends bands. Then another gig two weeks later, different venue, mostly different music required...different genre, 15 more songs in two weeks. At a semi-pro level, for $150 per gig. Ugh. Music is a tough gig.
First Pantera show with Phil was in my home city (Shreveport)... Wow, learn something new every day. I knew they played there a bunch when I was a baby/young kid, but did not know that other tidbit. My mom used to go see them a lot back in the day.
I bought the newest Exhorder CD, going in blind, had never heard em. The sticker on the CD said genuine NOLA sound. I thought, wow, that sounds interesting, I have the Down cd with that title. MOURN THE SOUTHERN SKIES is an absolute monster. I was in for a treat. Killer band, awesome guitar work. Ola, thanks for another great episode, and if people on here aren't pulling my leg, I cant wait for you to have Andy LaRoque on here. That will be excellent.
Love the Heavy As Texas! Some great solos in there. Marzi is such a cool dude, when hurricane Harvey hit Houston a guy he knows lost all his stuff. He got me in touch with him and I was able to give him a nice Schecter guitar to get him back on his feet. Love how he brings people together like that.
Great interview, man! Marzi is the genuine article... one of the nicest, kind hearted dudes I've ever met. Stoked that he's been ripping with Exorder! He's an amazing talent. Light and love, brother! Cheers! -T
Great interview with Marzi.... What a beautiful looking Solar guitar E Type 24 fret...looks like a kick ass guitar to play... Matzi taught me some things here...thanks again Ola
Congratz to both of you with the Solar deal. Very cool technique he is using, and his kitten t-shirt is very fitting with the Ola thing. Very cool Dime story.
Cool stuff man!!! I'll bet that was the easiest interview EVER - coz you never had to coax much to get great answers from him!🤘 And I love all his stories about...well EVERYTHING! Weather it was Dime, (especially Dime!😎) or Rhodes, EVH, or his love for Exhorter - like me man, all my (I guess you could say "Hero's) coz that's who they were to me!!! His passion HAS TO BE INFECTIOUS!!! I dig that so much, never have had the chance to meet those guys. I'm old enough that I got to see all those bands, & people play live! (Almost got to meet Rhodes, just missed him by mere minutes coz they loaded up quick, coz they had another show the next night, & a long way to travel by bus...🙃 flipped me out, coz they were right there, but the driver was ready to go, and Randy said something to the effect: "Thanks for comin outside guys, but we gotta roll." (There was like 10 ppl out there wanting an autograph, or like me - just wanting to shake his hand and say: "You're my Hero Man! The way you played tonight just ripped my head off!!!!" So I appreciate his stories - as do you. I can tell, there's that vib! "Holy shit! He knew Dime before Pantera!!! WOW!" What a font of knowledge!!!! OK I'm done....
when HEAVY AS TEXAS played in fort worth, after the show i asked him if i could get a pic with the PRIESTESS cause it had just came out and he was like hell yuh and then erbody started getn pics with him and the PRIESTESS also. just like erbody else says, hes a super rad fucking awesome human being and one badass player
I listen to him playing with Phil at the Roskilde Festival back in 2014. One of the best sounding shows, his solo in Irrelevant Walls & Computer Screens was killer. \m/
That was fucking awesome!!! I love these videos where your so deep in stories and conversation I feel like I’m sitting in the room!!! Fuck yeah Ola great video bro! 🤘🏻🇦🇺🤘🏻
Thing is Pantera had already done cowboys and vulgar came out the same year as the law.. People accuse Pantera of ripping off Slaughter in the Vatican era but that album sounds more like Exodus than groove
Some of the songs on The Law were actually written back before Slaughter In The Vatican came out. Back in the Get Rude demo days from my understanding.
@@blakkno666 It's not "accused", both bands have admitted it and a band getting their sound from another band isn't a bad thing, bands copying and building off of each other is how Thrash even became a thing in the first place
The Basement was in Dallas, I lived behind it, saw Pantera there many times. Joes Garage was in Ft Worth. There's a great vid from one of those shows, has backstage action. Thanks Ola! Loves me some Marzi! \m/
Poor Ola! I can only imagine.. Meeting s.o who was a friend of Dime =] JK - This was the best CWO ever! I am happy that Ola could learn some stories from a guy who had first hand experience =] Also, imho, probably one of the best Solar guitars model =] Stay safe, Ola. Regards, Svanio
Hell yeah Marzi is the man. Gotta spend 3 days with Exhorder right at Xmas so I made them tamales 🫔 fudge & banana bread. Marzi was so thankful & said tamales were his favorite food. We were shootin the shit on the bus & he starts munchin down & says man these are sum the best fuckin tamales ever bro. He spreads the luv like Dime when I hung with Pantera in New Orleans. Metal Families rule
First, find the heaviest distortion you can find. Second, crank your shty amp till the sound naturally distorts. Last but not least palm mute and down stroke. Everything chugs :)
Hey Ola I don’t know if you know about this band but there is this awesome Swedish Death Metal Band called the Haunted, they have a great guitarist he even has the same name as you.
The last Exhorder and Heavy as Texas albums are fucking killer... H.A.T. is very difficult to get hold of, managed to get one imported over to the UK. ...

The riffs on "The Law" are insane and baffle me to this day. every 4 beats the riff changes.
the truth is the best track on there in my opinion but all the songs are great like i am the cross is good
I Am The Cross kills ESPECIALLY
The begining was perfect. I think the best podcasts are just two people shooting the shit.
completely agree. flows right away.
Have Coffee with Chuck Billy of Testament
Doesn’t he have COVID?
@@deadinsidemcgee411 he had...now he's beter ( at least not sick)

Never heard of Marzi before, but within 2-3 minutes, i could tell this dude's got a good soul. Such a chill and good-vibes podcast
Could hear him talk for hours about Dime... gonna watch Dime videos the rest of the night now. Makes me sad and happy at the same time. Skål.

Wow, you have been sitting on that model for a while
Mad respect for keeping it secret

The best coffee with ola yet. Marti is so Cheech and Chong type cool.
Really enjoyed this , the best thing about it is it doesn't come across as an interview , thanks Ola.
Very cool interview Ola. Marzi is a really cool dude and a great player. Looking forward to see what Exhorder does on their next album.

this was SO GOOD! one of the best ''interviews'' i've seen with two musicians.
It will be awesome to have 25.5 scale length with 24 frets option on a serial E2.6 model. Hardtailed
I used to work with Marzi at Guitar Center at Westhiemer and Hillcroft in Houston back in 2000.
I bought my Ibanez S from there
Epic interview. Im speechless
Wow what a humble badass dude! You too Ola;) and Mourn the Southern Skies is a ripper of an album!
Looking forward to a Coffee w/ Andy LaRoque and Mike Wead
Marzi played lead guitar on Phil Anselmo first solo project with the Illegals, sick guitar player🤘
Yoooo Marzi is awesome! I took guitar lessons from him for a number of years back in the day in Houston, TX
Great Interview Ola. Im glad this one didnt get lost to time
Marzi is the best .. had the pleasure of interviewing him in Houston.
I love Marzi. Hung out with him multiple times, and he is easily one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever meant.
When I bought “the law” I saw where Pantera drew some serious influence

So proud of you my friend! You have to sign my Priestess when it comes in!
If Chuck Schuldiner was alive he would be a Solar artist and there would be a W series! For sure
alexis stylianou yeah man that would have been awesome, rip Chuck.
na, most certain his own guitar company , like schuldiner guitars , even i dont think he would like the most modern stuff .
nah, he'd still play his BC Rich
He was a BC Rich and Jackson dude. He wasn't into washburn
That dude is fucking awesome. I’m a fan for life.
Coffee with Vogg 🤘🏼

Courtney Cox --Iron Maidens
SAME. I kinda lost my shit until I figured it out.
Can’t believe he threw out blas Elias, was named after the guy.
Good coffee with ola as always. Matt Heafy next please.
Cool stuff
I thought I was the only one who loved wearing "metal-inappropriate" shirts while shredding! ;-)
Nah, Chuck Schuldiner always wore "kitten shirts"...
Love ya ola🤘🤘
