  • Time for another PHAD Real Scientific Tool Review!
This time we have the NOCO GB70 Jump Starter to put to the test.
    no.co/gb70
Before pushing the magic button and letting out the smoke, let's go over some basic electrical theory on how to characterize a battery in terms of energy capacity and current output.
In Part 1 we break down the jargon when talking about batteries...Amps, Watts, Volts, energy, power, current...Joules?
Grab your notebook, pencil, and some brain cells...
    Enjoy!

I love these reviews you do, can't wait for part 2! the feature I like about this thing is the boost button that doesn't time out like the pocket power... mandatory for diags or pulling power from the leads for powering something.

I carry one of those in my car. I only use it once in a while, so the USB is fine. Mine also times out. The size of the wire and the beefiness (or lack of) is a clue to what your gonna get. Thank u Ivan!

Ive got 2 of those "pocket power" units, they are called "thunder" in Australia, I'm very happy with them, they will crank a 6.oL petrol engine individually and I have started a 9L diesel engine on 24V with one on each battery, both times with completely dead vehicle batteries.

Great review Ivan, half of your audience won't have a clue of what you're talking about. But for the rest of us it's a well rounded review. Keep 'em coming.

I bought one about 6 months ago, it's excellent. They say it only works on single battery cars/trucks. Not so, my Montero has 2 batteries, I attach the GB70 to the battery closest to the firewall and it starts on the button as this is the battery wired direct to the starter. Attaching the GB70 to the other battery is no good.

Nice Ivan. Kind of like Engineering Explained but better because you also fix stuff! Thanks.

Great video. What's your opinion on the GB150? I need a jump starter to be able to start mostly 2.5 diesel engines to 7.2 liter petrol V8 engines, let's say 2 or 3 times a day in general. Would i have enough with the GB70, or would the GB150 be better. Thanks
