    • @januarylewis6787

Jeannie I think there is no particular time to talk about sex with your kids I think you should talk to kids over time on their age level. Basically I think the process is a building process and you should use the actual word and names of the body parts just in case something happen to them the kids can tell someone what occurred and it's understood by anyone.

    • @darlenesmith7680

As soon as they're showing ANY interest AT ALL! That will be a different age for each child.....however,I made it VERY CLEAR from age 2 that their body was THEIR CHOICE. I never made my kids hug anyone-even family. If THEY wanted the hug offered,ok. But I was never that Mama who said..."Go hug Uncle Fred or Aunt Sally wants a hug,go hug her back". If they felt uncomfortable-I respected their body, their choice!
Your Mama gut will ALWAYS tell you Jeannie. Just never try to explain that gut feeling away...trust it and believe in it!! 💜💜

Consent talks should start as soon as a kid has language. It’s their choice if they want to hug a relative hello or wave. If they don’t want to be tickled, they have the right to say “stop” and the tickling stops immediately.
Bodily autonomy is step one of consent, and we often unintentionally indoctrinate children very early that they DON’T deserve it. “Oh, just let your great-aunt kiss you. It’s disrespectful to say no.” Things like that. NOPE. Respect is shown in many ways, but providing unwanted access to your body is never one of them.

The love between a Mama and her daughter is unlike any other....just as is the love with sons. I have one of each and I am EXTREMELY CLOSE with them both..I can tell you I made mistakes that I would change today, but every mistake was lead by LOVE and doing what I felt was the right thing at the time....but through it all,the adults I got out of raising them, makes me very proud,so those mistakes were forgiven and they realize it truly was "When you know better, you do better". Mama Mai knows better now,and I believe will be the "Mama" as a Grandma that you always needed Jeannie. Just as Monaco will forgive your mistakes,bc she will know they were done out of love, and you'll be a better Grandma than Mama....however,you're going to be one hell of a Mama to that beautiful baby--I have NO doubt.
This episode will change lives....and the blessings that'll come from that-has LOVE at the core of them all.
    Much Love to you both.

Hi beautiful ladies!!! We have to remember that our parents are humans. Humans make mistakes. I give my parents a bit of grace because they did the best they could with the knowledge they had. When you know better you do better.

I am not under the illusion that I know how you were raised or what your family has gone through but it seems to me that Mama Mai deserves more credit than what she gets. She seems to be a passionate, loving person with a huge heart and great sense of humor. I Just don’t understand why she gets put down for the choices she has made. No one is perfect. We were all young and made mistakes at some point. What is important is that you learn from them. It’s seems that Jeannie is trying to “break the cycle” but I also think Mama Mai was young and inexperienced and did the best she could. Mama Mai will be a wonderful grandmother, you can already see the love that she has for the baby 😊 Let’s lift each other up and appreciate our moms and the sacrifices they made for us.

Yes, but she didn’t do the right thing with regard to teaching Jeannie about consent, and didn’t believe Jeannie when she told her what happened to her as a child. This is why she gets a lot of flak, because her choices really impacted Jeannie. Her temper also really impacted Jeannie. What’s important now though is that everyone is trying to do and be better

I think you should go watch their old video. There's a lot of trauma in this family and Jeanie experienced a lot of pain. I am proud of Jeannie for being strong enough to work through that trauma and still show up wanting to work on her relationship with her mom. Also love how Mama Mai is listening to the different perspectives openly now.

Mama on 💯. Some things you can hope to be and work on being but the practical will be something else. You can think you will teach portion control and get a kid that loves food. Gobbles it down and cries when you take it away. Then when they get old, they will be like how you are to Mama Mai and say you always took food away even though they wanted more. The point is kids will challenge your being and you will not automically respond how you hope or they will not always be like you were. All the best. Pray, keep trying but no matter what you do, your kids will always have sh*t to say about how you didn't do as they hoped. Usually it's because you think you are helping , protecting them or trying to control a situation/behaviour.

I wish they would go back to teaching this to kids though. When I was in elementary school we learned the “uh oh” feeling. We went in depth about personal boundaries, knowing where it’s okay to be touched and where it’s not okay. Also, knowing nothing is your fault and you should always tell an adult you trust!

This was an interesting episode to watch. The truth is most of our parents do what they think is best for us and even when they fall short, alot of them are just trying to do better than their parents did.
There is no such thing as a perfect parent. No matter how hard you try I think your child would always think there's something you could have done better. The important thing is that we learn from the mistakes our parents made and we try to do better than they parents did. I love that you are trying to be better for daughter.

Jeannie just remember that you are who you are because of mama Mai so don't think you know more than her when she raised you. I feel like mama Mai doesn't get the credit she deserves and I've watched your videos where she talks about her horrific upbringing so if she was able to raise you up right, she must know something. Instead of wanting to unlearn her parenting, maybe learn to hold onto the good parts from it and add your own wisdom to it. It's similar to how kids always think that they know more than adults until they become an adult themselves and then they see it for themselves and learn that the adults were right all along lol. But kids swear their lil friends know more lol. Good luck and very happy to see you transition into this exciting new phase as a mom! I'm sure you will do a great job but cut your mom some slack cuz she actually can give you some pointers if you would give her a chance. The irony is that you both seem a bit stubborn but you swear it's just her lol.

💯 She will never truly know until she becomes a mother. Now she has that chance to incorporate her own parenting and learn the struggles her mother had to go through. My Vietnamese mother was very toxic growing up. Recently, she caught me scolding my son about something and told me to not do that. She told me there are many things she regretted doing to us when we were young and she didn’t know any better and didn’t want us repeating those same mistakes. It really touched me to know she was aware of her shortcomings as a young mother and helped me understand that we are imperfect human beings regardless of how much better we think we’ll be than our parents. All we can do is appreciate their effort and try to do better without thinking we are better. Stay humble. ✌️

I think she is so correct at having a vision of how she wants to parent! I think that's absolutely spot on!
And I think that probably all mothers do that (at least the good ones!) And thinking ahead how they want to tackle some more challenging aspects/topics/behaviour!
By having her clear vision she'll know how and WHEN to implement it! No point trying to teach the kid AFTER the fact!! After maybe a pattern was set!

This was hilarious. Mama Mai will catch on. I know she will be a great grandma. Jeannie and Jeezy remind me of my husband and me. I'm Vietnamese, and my husband is African American. This December will be our 10th anniversary and we've been together for 14 years. We don't have kids yet, but always have dreamt about having some. Hopefully, soon, since we are still young (kind of), I have fertility issues. But I love their relationship!

It’s a lot I look back on how my mama & I were , the way you were raised the good & bad is why u are the way you are today and that goes for all of us and now u see and want to do things differently but that old skool way will still always be essential 🤍 much love y’all !
