My cats started to gather around my phone as I’m watching this . These Aristocats are pleased with the sounds and now demanding one for me to purchase.!
Yeah, so I'm late to the party and all, but I loved the video. It felt like watching a short documentary...very interesting device this Strega, also liked the way you explored it and played with it. Chaotic almost uncontrollable noise and bleeps, yet still intriguing. Loved this one, Sarah!
The sound processing part sold me on this beauty
I kinda wish there was a 1 year later revisitation for synths like this since I feel like this one needs time to really sit on and ‘Cook’ for potency. People seemed to have gotten turned off by initial interactions which is fair if you’re not into the sound/process of Strega, but after a year with it, it’s been one of my favorite tools to play with and explore with patching in my larger systems. Learning more and fun things with it every day I sit down with it and others has been an absolute blast and Make Noise/Cortini hit a home run with it I feel like.
Great review! Too many other channels reviewed the Strega by spending a bunch of time trying to decode what part of it was the Oscillator, LFO etc. Strega feels like an instrument that inhabits a positive chaos space. I feel like running this through a sampler would yield amazing results.
Those external processing moments were inspired, especially that baking tray snare, yowza! 👍👍👍
Thanks! Yeah that baking tray was something really special..
I was just thinking what would @mylarmelodies do with that instrument …
@@sarahbellereid woe. that's the way I always want these to sound now! amazing
SOMA Ether 2 versus Strega. Ooh yeah 😎 The cat sounded super freaky 😵
When connecting a microphone to Strega is it Necessary to run it through some kind of preamp?
Why have you not been on my feed?!?! This is exactly the kind of in depth and thoughtful synth content I’ve been looking for! And god damn is that external processing bit fascinating
I listened to your video through the Strega as I started experimenting with it. There was a Strega Singularity, but I survived.
Such a skilled teacher and communicator. Thank you so much for this video. I really appreciated the fireside part.
Thanks :) happy to hear you enjoyed it
OMG that horn was so haunting!! Bravo with this review. Fascinating device!
Very eloquent. One of the best reviews of a synth I have seen here and fun to watch and listen to. Thanks!
Agreed!
Now I can get that classic "cat stuck in industrial stepper motor" sound!
Some incredible sounds here! Especially the horn with the envelope follower on the delay time. Thank you!
Sounds like every classic Dr. Who episode sound effect, smooshed into one box. Love it. I'd paint mine Tardis blue.
I think that was a point well made about listening to the instrument. Getting out of ones own way…. Great sounds!
Thanks!
You're fantastic. This is one of the best synth reviews I've ever seen.
Really really enjoyed this exploration, I tried looking away during the external processing moments to experience the sounds not knowing their source and was blown away looking back.
Coffee Sounds amazing as well
This was insane! Getting STREGA for sure! Thanks for this!!
Can't wait. Good to meet you and subscribed!
Thank you for such a thoughtful review and demo of the new Strega. Seeing how a musician can use the Strega as both a main instrument and a processor for external instruments and sound was really inspiring.
Amazing demo of Strega! And really a good example of what it can do with acoustic instrument.
So much fun to watch after more than a year. Still learning new things...
Wow! This was awesome. That track at the end is insane!
An absolutely fantastic rundown, from the narration to demo. Glad to finally know what this instrument is all about!
Thanks!!
I wasn’t sure about the instrument at first but then the melodic patch, now I’m hooked and what a brilliant demo 👍
This is a great and diverse video. Thanks for all the hard work you've done to make it. Super helpful!
Wonderful presentation/demo/performance Sarah. Bravo ! 👏👏
Thanks!
What a fantastic walk-through. Just got mine. Thanks!
Finally an instrument that lives up to the company’s name, Make Noise (Music.. debatable).
Glad to see so many different possibilities opened up in this video, some of the other demos so far have been a bit too dry or samey. You did a great job showing how expressive this can be, I'm excited to pick one of these up now.
sooo useful in getting my head around this thing. Thanks Sarah!
Did not expect this. Strega is starting to grow on me. Great video
Absolutely brilliant walkthrough to what looks like an incredible creative instrument. It really shows that you've put a lot of effort into this. Strega is high up my wishlist part thnx to this review and I'm going to change the fact that I was unfamiliar with your music straight away :)
Have referred back to this video several times now--very helpful in getting me started with the Strega. I'm brand new to synths and would have been lost otherwise with no manual. Thank you!
You're welcome! So glad you find this video very helpful!
Excellent video, I feel like I understand the instrument a lot better now and you've made some really hypnotic sounds with it :)
Excellent video Sarah!
Excellent walkthrough and demo! Thank you. Instant subscribe.
that sound design at the end of the video was next levell. expanding consciousness at its finest
Thank you!
Wonderful review!! Thank you and appreciate your musicality
Wonderful exploration, great demo!
Great overview. Loved the meta commentary. I think this finally convinced me to buy.
Thank you for your review Sarah. I found your reflection on the approach to the instrument during the interlude very helpful.
You're welcome! Glad you find it helpful!
Thanks for the detailed video, I really enjoyed knowing there are people that enjoy the mix and match parts of making sound... the horn!! So Cool!1
amazing presentation! Love the experimental nature of your music. Subbed!
This video is beautiful, well thought, well filmed, and of course the sounds are incredible. Looking forward to more video like this in the future, subscribed.
Thank you!!
I was looking for Strega videos while waiting for it to arrive (can't wait !) and thus have found your amazing channel ! Ablsolutely great one revealing magic of Strega, very interesting to watch. That cat sound was quite psychedelic )). Subscribed :)
Wow, such an amazing demo, subbed!
Wow! Insane soundscapes...and excellent review. Thanks!
Thank you too!
Got one ordered. Thanks sarah!
A great an openly honest review.
I happily have one paid for on preorder ad cannot wait to play
Super cool video! Can’t wait to get one of these units!
Absolutely great video. Thorough and beautiful! Good balance, I enjoyed you speaking in the interlude and the images of nature very much. Bravo!!!
Thank you so much!
Great video Sarah!
An honest review with a lot of experience to back up what this instrument is, what and who it sounds like. I appreciated this a lot.
Thanks!!
Just got mine (finally) last night!
Wow, this thing is it's own living breathing machine!
Exciting! Yeah it’s a pretty incredible little instrument :) I hope you have fun explorations ahead!
@@sarahbellereid I'm having a lot of fun with it, lots of new ideas!
Thanks Sarah. Ordered one today as you have sold it to me on the strength of this wonderful, inspiring video.
Happy you found it helpful! :)
I’m very new to synths and know next to nothing about synthesis yet, but I TOTALLY need one of these. So cool and crazy sounding.
Yes, definitely the best demo so far
Wow so cool! Great demo!
Very articulate and thoughtful overview and exploration. Thank you!!
Thank you!!
This is the best strega review ever! Such a creative machine! Thinking of buying one now :-)
Just ordered Strega!🎉
Using the horn to also change the effect, was neat. I am getting one of these soon.
fantastic video, beautiful track
Amazing video. Thank you! What a cool little instrument
Patch five is next level asmr ;)
New to your channel. Holy whoa I’m so glad this was my first experience with your content. Best synth review I’ve ever seen. An intimate exploration and description of your experience with the instrument while weaving through the scripted and unscripted moments. In the interlude, you use words like “interact”, “exploratory” and allude to themes of dialogue and exchange. For me, these are the same feelings that got me started with synthesis ( and music in general ) as well as push me further in my musical career and exploration with new territories. I know this comment is long winded, but shoot you made a huge fan out of me. Thanks again!
Thank you for the kind words! ❤️
Wonderful demo! Thanks
Very nice, the track at the end is so good!
Fantastique presentation!!!
Love your experimental approach to music!
Thanks!
you can tell a ton of effort went in to this. it’s a great video with very creative segments, particularly the horn! it reminds me of when Full Of Hell toured w something like that (brass + fx) a few years ago.
After this video, I spent some time looking up all of the Make Noise products. Found it very inspiring; I am coming to semi-modular/modular from noisescapes with guitar and effects so this is very exciting. I also looked up your albums on iTunes, Sarah. You have a super cool arts practice.
Well done, thanks for sharing.
Very cool demo. Glad to see you got your head around how tools like this work. I think you'd have a really a good time with a Cocoquantus, but be careful, as it's similar to the Strega in that it is a transdimensional portal key. Like the Strega, it is VERY well suited to squishing connections with your fingers to invoke changes. Nice track preview!
neat instrument! i generally have a hard time vibin w makenoise panels but this one seems super cool. + the track at the end is really something else
the external cat source was also great :D thanks for this awesome Strega overview!
Thanks for this. An interesting and intelligent review. Having enjoyed listening to MASS yesterday also helped, for sure. Now I need to get my hands and ears ready for when my Strega arrives on UPS. Thanks again! 🙂
thanks Luis! I appreciate it :)
beautiful track at the end
Thanks Sarah!
it"s crystal clear for me. got to get me one of these. and sarah ? very good video. tops !
Fantastic stuff! SO creative-LOVe it!
That Strega is extraordinary 🤯
Awesome demo. Well produced and Informative. Shout out to make noise to for letting me find your channel!
oh hell yeah! had mine pre ordered like 20 seconds in the AC demo, and this is sounding sick with Sarah killin on it! helll yeah can not wait! tell make noise to ship faster lol
This was great Sarah - giving a really nice walk-through and overview of what this machine is about, well done! Your sound processing examples were awesome. So, this is literally a "MAKE NOISE" machine :-) Seriously, it's a very interestings architecture and signal flow and a very interesting and different synth. I cannot shake this thought right now: If I had a mount with the 3 Moog semi-modulars of similar form-factor, and a mount with the 3 Make Noise 0-* semi-modular boxes, I would have a *very* potent music and sound studio, capable of keeping me busy for years. Now, I *have* invested in a eurorack but the thought makes me salivate :-) Great job Sarah!
Thank you so much!
I was not ready for how amazing the trumpet sounds through it :O
Great video, thanks for sharing your personal take on this instrument!
Thanks for watching!
great gestures. also the flügelhorn sounds gorgeous. :)
wow that vocal part!! you can create a full LP just with just the Strega, 0-Ctrl and a mic (and maybe your trumpet, the baking tray and a 0-Coast ;) )
Thank you for the great review!
Sounds great, very good demo and review.
GREAT VIDEO ! Has me sold on getting a Strega....the audio "IN" function will allow for infinite exploration. Looking forward to exploring more of your vids...THX.!!
I really like the idea of an obtuse and random, but still consistently affectable parameter - like that interference. Something affected by lots of different variables and adjustable in how intense it is. Very cool idea that i hope to see in more devices.
a must have for experimental!
I had the exact same comical experience trying to figure out when I first unboxed it how to bring it to life (besides plugging it in of course). Great video and informative!
Brilliant review! Thx Sarah.
Thank you!
This device is just magical
