love how the design of this synth feels like some kind of alien technology. it reminds you that this tool has it's own unique language and you'll need to abide by it's terms to have a conversation with it.
I really apreciate your intellectual honesty like at the start, saying you haven't explored it entirely but you still find it interesting to share what you know! Humility is more inspiring than ego!
Fascinating instrument! It’s like those crazy panels with touch and patch points that people add to stuff when doing circuit bending, but as a whole complete concept.
I really have no idea how I stumbled upon your YT channel (via Hainbach? Panicgirl? .. ) a little while ago, but I am glad I hit the subscribe button. This and the last video have been incredibly interesting and informative for me. I don't naturally gravitate to creating this type of music myself but I have great respect for people like you who are able to tame a beast like this.
This thing has some of the most epic sounds of any electronic instrument!! Also seems like u have really connected with that make noise sequencer. Cool!!!
Watching now! I ordered one at noon on 10-10 (thinking they would sell out), so I should have one in a month or so. Thanks for another perspective on this! Also, I hadn't heard anyone running external audio thru the Noon yet, I'm even more excited for this. BTW, I was going thru old Darwin Gross (RIP) interviews recently and came across your episode.
Nice to see a technical musician having fun that way. Thank you, I never laugh this way since that SK yamaha test from Musictrack gy enabling UA-cam 's automatic translation from japanese.
the character of the drones this thing makes is really unique and worth it alone lol honestly unpowered gear seems super convenient from a portability standpoint only thing i wish i could have seen was some very short little triggers sent thru it to see if it is possible to get microsounds
Landscape will have orders out the whazoo. The first 10min sealed it. Then! The last 10min was incredible and inspiring. I also see a 12 string back there. Please bust that out with the modular! thanks for the work put in.
I originally saw that Bogdan raczynski was using this for some of his music. Thanks for doing a bit of an overview of how this actually works. I can definitely see getting this soon
I imagine the touchplates bridge the connection between the channels in the same way as the link button does, but with more noise from your skin varying greatly depending on how much moisturizer you've used that day.
Ooooh, I've accidentally experimented with voltage starvation on my volca fm, and bastl kastle by running the batteries right out. You do get some wild sounds.
I might get one of these. I love the idea of listening to circuits charge and discharge. I love Rollz for that but I wish it was more controllable. This seems like that.
Close, the difference between the voltage from a PSU and the voltage from a CV source is impedance. The PSU is capable of delivering much more CURRENT, which the passive circuitry doesn't need much of. Having said that I imagine the output of the Noon requires some amplification? 👍Fun drum machine 😄
Actually the Olegtron 4060 also has a voltage starvation control, and there is now the new Error Instruments Singularity which is a bit like a Noon for Eurorack.
The trumpet & migsi part: I was surprised you could keep a straight face for so long lol!😅 Now I just need to hear the trumpet/migsi through a Miku Stomp box and then into Noon 📯🎺🎉🐐🐑
Does anybody know how to achieve sounds like this in the box? That's mostly the kind of producer I am and I love these sounds but I'm probably not gonna spend $700 on a used one of these.
16:00 mark man that sequence is banana funk!!...I cant watch anymore now im out - or else imma wanna buy it and me no have no money or space for anymore friends right now lol Happy New Year SBR! thanks for another year of inspiration ~cheers~
I have all the other Landscape products but I’m really struggling to like this one. Everything I’ve heard it produce has a certain same-ness to it… mostly droning or percussive mid-bass noise with copious amounts of high frequency modulation. Perhaps that tendency can be overcome with meticulous crafting of input signals, but it’s far too expensive for me to take that chance just to find out.
@sarahbellereid. I want to know if you have a video that explains some of the terminology and technology that you talk about in your videos. I want to understand more about electronic music. But I only know the basics. Do you have such a video made?
I have a free mini-course to get you started with modular synthesis called "Your 1st Modular Synth Patch". You can enroll here: www.soundandsynthesis.com/firstpatch2022
@sarahbellereid great. Thank you. Another question. I'm wanting to get a granular synthesizer and I'm strongly considering the Microcosm. But I see there are a few others like the Chase Bliss Mood II andSoma Cosmos. And there are a few others. But I like the Microcosm the best. What are your thoughts on what is the most versatile and useful for ambient music?
@@terrybrown106 There are so many amazing and creative options, and everyone's individual preferences can vary greatly. I would recommend visiting a shop that would let you play around with them if you have that available to you.
Thanks for the work I've been listening to your albums and I dig them Don't know how you can make a living with this sort of music tnd the videos (so it's not a judgement) but my issue is that it can reinforce people GAS wich is not pnly a joke but can be a very big deal. So a little trick I use and it works a bit on me when I hear the sound I ask myself how can I produce this sort of sounds, most of the time I find a way. This is the case for this. The official name is not GAS but this kind of behaviour can be a serious disease that can badly afect your life. My job was working with people who've got addiction and had a GAS problem myself that's why I think I can let myself write this kind of things. Nice music anyway!

It's been two years and this is still by far the best showcase of the landscape noon on youtube.

Sarah Belle Reid is a gift.
Strong hints of Buchla with a vibe of DFAM
FREAKING TEXTURE GARDEN , throbbing organic fun, and the landscape touch interaction. (chef's kiss)
This is the first time I have ever considered sampling a UA-cam video.
Just… wow.
Thank you!
Fascinating instrument! It’s like those crazy panels with touch and patch points that people add to stuff when doing circuit bending, but as a whole complete concept.
been waiting for a deep dive on this. I love mine dearly and feel like I will be discovering new things with it for the rest of my life
I feel the same way! this is just the tip of the iceberg.. so much more to discover :)
Hi! Sarah, when you touch the sensors, you’re introducing varying resistance into the circuit. Wonderful chaos!
Also, beautiful hands! 🙌🏻
I love that Tudor quote towards the end. Its so easily applicable to all forms of creativity, regardless of the medium of expression.
This is such a cool instrument! I’m so happy to a full video devoted to it. Thanks
my pleasure! I agree it's a super fascinating instrument :)
This is one of the most conceptually interesting instruments I’ve seen in awhile. Really great video! Thanks!
That trumpet section at the end was wilddddddddd 🤯
I think this instrument was literally MADE FOR YOU Sarah ! Quite extraordinary 👏👏

You keep your patch cables so neat.
This was a delightful space in my otherwise difficult day. Thank you for sharing your playfull approach to these mechanical wonders❤️🔥❤️
You're welcome - I'm happy to hear this video brightened your day a bit. 🧡

Thank goodness we get an in-depth review and discussion of this fascinating instrument. Thank you Sarah!

I love this synth! And I've only heard the first pass thru of all the channels. Puts a big smile on my face.
I didn't initially think I wanted one.. But now I do. One day. What a monster machine.
This is super compelling! Great presentation!
Whoa this synth is amazing! And that MIGSI part at the end was super cool. Très avante garde!
Excellent overview. Your comments on Tudor and feedback are on point. Hard to resist adding this instrument to the studio.
Amazing instrument. Fascinated by the fact it doesn’t require mains power. That’s a new thing for me. Another fantastic video as well 👍
Thank you!🙂
I just love that they have jacks and pads for outs, you could get really experimental with their other tools.
Wonderful. I have a noon and Ocntrl and I appreciate the insights. Many thanks
*Very* pleasing sounds around the 23:23 mark! Low dual microtonal harmonies, would you say? Very nice job!
this is really an interesting tool. especially because it has no internal power supply. great video!
Nice to see a technical musician having fun that way. Thank you, I never laugh this way since that SK yamaha test from Musictrack gy enabling UA-cam 's automatic translation from japanese.
Awesome video, super-inspirational!
What an incredible video and such a cool instrument
Thank you!
I feel like you have the perfect voice for bedtime stories.

Landscape makes some very cool devices.
The sound you have at 23:25 is amazing! great job! You have a new subscriber!
I originally saw that Bogdan raczynski was using this for some of his music. Thanks for doing a bit of an overview of how this actually works. I can definitely see getting this soon
I can't afford one but you'd best believe I'll be sampling every video I can find of it.
Stupendous sounds from this synth!
Duuuuude.. In combination with your MIGSI that's amazing. Wow.
Just found your channel. Thanks for the book recommendation - I didn't know the Tudor book had been published.
I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT INTERFACE
im suprised that there are hardly any videos on this esoteric device.. thanks for the deep dive!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!

Dude, that BOSS RSD-10, I didn't know that was a thing, thanks lol, now if I could only find one.
Always very interesting and inspiring what you propose 💘
23:25 that sounds like straight out of an el-p beat. nice!
The sounds around the 27 minute mark remind me of the portal 2 soundtrack :)
Jolin Lab makes a synth module called Tabør that has a power starve input for the oscillators. Fun.
Well done, great improv.
Very good video
Wonderful gadget. Seems exactly like something Don Buchla might have created.
Maybe better
Better than Buchla? That's a mighty claim.@@sn1000k
Could you power this (send voltage from) a potato or a lemon?
I might get one of these. I love the idea of listening to circuits charge and discharge. I love Rollz for that but I wish it was more controllable. This seems like that.
omg what a beautiful voice for synths videos :) Great machine
32:10 literal cackling witch! nice!

this might be a good platform for some circuit bent stuff
from this video I like the sequencer the eyes and the hair

very cool
For those who prefer tuning between two radio stations (like me :-)
Should run the delay back into the noon on different inputs
The trumpet part was hilarious.
Landscape makes the coolest things, get them to send you an allflesh kit.
Such aggressive sounds aren’t my thing, but I realize just now how well this would pair with some low pass gates to tame it.
It should have been named Scream Machine.
Seems to share some DNA with the Swarmatron?
What instrument are you using to control the Noon? ❤️
Aah the zero control 🙏I spoke when i should have listened 🙏🌹
MIGSI found a soulmate!!!!!

Duckity-duck with the horn ))
have you thought about calling technical support?

@sarahbellereid I live in Las Vegas where there are tons of music stores. I'll check some places out. Thanks.
This thing makes Einsturzende Neubauten sound like Kenny g
Thats a serious boop beep box right there.
My god don’t do this when you’re stoned you’ll never remember what u did lol
the sound of electricity
hoho that shit is random af, i love it :D
Nice but a Buchla price
Pretty cool, but boy is that expensive for such a stripped down synth
Not cheap, but I want!
I'm also not sure if this is a "drum" synth, but whatever. It's great.
I wonder if you "drone" the noon then play on the spectraphon...
I ;liked the migsy
Wow..
Your voice sounds like a trumpet through Noon..coincidence?🤣
11:37 a little fart! lol
super interesting instrument, way out of my price range though...:(
Yes, but can it make music?
😝 just kidding.
Most or all of the sounds can be duplicated with STREGA or the DPO so $680.00 plus shipping is a little over the top I think.
entirely different paradigms
@@Musicninja007 But very similar results. So a buying decision might depend on whether one is interest in process, output or both.
