Well said. This young woman is clearly empathetic as evidenced by how moved she was, and the world could use a lot more of that emotion. I have to sometimes hide how moved I am by such things because of the world's judgment (I wish I didn't care, but US society is very judgemental about men showing emotions). Glad that she just let it happen and shared it.

This was pure magic. Watching Led Zeppelin react to Led Zeppelin music played by others, including the son of the drummer, is special. Heart players, Ann and Nancy Wilson, were a perfect pick to front this band. What a spectacle! I've seen this many times and it is ALWAYS moving. Never apologize for crying to music. It means the artists did their jobs well! Crying is an act of appreciation, here.

You started tearing up under 2 minutes in?!!? - WAIT till Jason starts playing, Ann lays into it hard, and the choirs come in - 2 of them -- You'll be balling your eyes out - & I'm going there with you ... From what I've read, they didn't know Jason was going to be playing his dad's part behind the skins with the Heart-led band that night, which was part of the reason it was SO emotional for them all ... Not to mention the GREATNESS of the performance & arrangement of the song -- PS - & Verdy, DON'T EVER apologize for getting emotional about musical GREATNESS of this kind -- LATE PS: can you update that Zeppelin photo on your wall to include John Paul Jones, bass player & keyboards, and John Bonham, the late, great drummer & father of the drummer in this performance!!!! I think JPJ is possibly the most underrated great band member of all time -- and of course Jason Bonham there playing for his dad .... PHEW

Verdy, your sweet soul is every bit as beautiful as the amazing spectacle you just reviewed. I love your gorgeous, heartbreaking face as you go through the range of emotions this performance inspires. Watching this, I wanted to reach through my screen and give you a big hug at least a dozen times. Now, if you really want to be awed by what you just witnessed, if you really want to cry, consider these facts...
The three surviving members of Zeppelin did not know that Ann and Nancy would be doing this. They also did not know that John Bonham's son Jason would be doing this. They were totally unprepared, and understandably blown away, especially Plant.
Ann and Nancy had performed Zeppelin covers many, many times over their careers, but they both stated that they had never been as nervous as they were in the lead-up to this performance. Nancy was nearly sick to her stomach before the show, she was so nervous about walking out onto that stage and having to play that iconic opening in front of Jimmy Page, and the entire world. And she nailed it. And Ann nailed it. The biggest, most visible moment of their careers, and they both gave the triumphant performance of a lifetime.
As much as you loved the Big Reveal of the massive choir, part of what made Plant so emotional toward the end there was the conspicuous wearing by every member of the choir of John Bonham's trademark bolo hat, which Jason also wore, in tribute to his late father...who was also Plant's best friend. Plant broke down because of John and Jason, and the beautiful, tragic journey they all experienced together, which a guilt-ridden Plant has largely attempted to bury in his heart over these past forty-some years following the passing of John Bonham. Also, Plant never enjoyed Stairway. He has always been uncomfortable with it, and both he and Page are generally not fans of Zeppelin covers, but this performance by their good friends Ann and Nancy, along with Jason wearing that bolo hat, finally broke through Plant's walls in a way that probably nothing else could have.

This is a shortened version that I really really wish didn’t exist because it takes away so much from the impact of the choir reveal. Most reactors don’t realize it and do this version. I really loved your reaction though and I was equally blown away and made emotional by it. I’m certain I’ve heard it at least 100 times now. As someone else also mentioned, the whole 4 song set at this ceremony is phenomenal. You’ll really want to check it out

    • @Melly01
      @Melly01 Рік тому +8

Not only that, but this is the version that drowns Ann out in the mix at the end. What is up with that? The other version is so much better balanced. 😕

    • @module79l28
      @module79l28 Рік тому +3

I agree but the problem is that this shorter version has 110M views and it's in HD, while the full version "only" has 36M and it's in 360p and because of that, YT pushes this one to the top of the search. Unfortunately, that's how things work in the Tube. It also doesn't help that reactors sometimes lack a bit of critical thinking and just go with the top result instead of looking at the other options and choose the best one to react to.

Robert Plant is also Jason Bonham's godfather.
Jason was invited to join him in the balcony for the show, but Jason fibbed and said he had another gig that he couldn't get out of.
This explains the "you cheeky bugger!" look on Robert Plant's face when Jason is introduced. 😄

These ladies are big fans of Zeppelin, and they cover a bunch of their songs in concert
In fact on August 16th 1977 I saw them in Asbury Park, New Jersey at Convention Hall. I had great seats, center balcony with an unobstructed view of the stage.
It was the day Elvis died and they dedicated the last song of the encore, Zeppelin's "Rock n Roll" to the King.
The drummer is Jason Bonham, John Bonham 's son, he's playing his dad's drum kit from the seventies here. You can see it in their Madison Square Garden shows from 1973.

I'm dismayed that two of the greatest guitar players ever to walk this earth haven't been recommended to you: Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck!! Jimi only released three studio albums before he died, so you can start with "Are You Experienced", but Jeff had a long and varied career(he passed in January). I think this short, remarkable live set will set the tone of how incredible he was-it's from the Crossroads Guitar Festival(he was 65 at the time!) I don't know how to get a direct message to you, but in case you actually read these comments, here's the link for this magical moment in time: ua-cam.com/video/9C_zeMYHgtU/v-deo.html. Love your reaction! This is art in it's purest form. When art intersects emotion and music, you find the absolute truth. The truth is that we 'feel' music with more than our ears, but with our heart (no pun intended, but perfect for this analogy) and our spirit.
Want to echo a couple comments.
Wish there had never been this 'shortened' version of the original performance. Loses some of its impact.
And, watching your reaction kinda released the onion ninjas in my home too.
Several things at play during this truly EPIC tribute concert.
    1. It is The Kennedy Center Honors
    2. Hosted by the most powerful people in the world
    3. One of the top 3 bands in the world being honored
    4. Sitting in on drums, the son of one of the top 3 drummers ever
    5. Two of the most recognizable artists on stage performing
    6. The chosen song is one of the top three songs ever recorded
    7. It's already been an emotional evening, but nary a tear to this moment
When Jason looked to the sky for his Dad, wearing the Boller hat in his memory, Robert Plant broke English stoicism and let three or four tears float (a monsoon by British standards).
It would take a decade for the English to recover their collective cool.
Always enjoy your videos, but this one earned you another sub.
    ❤❤ Ciao❤❤

Like Johnny Cash did it with "Hurt" from Nine Inch Nails, I would understand if one would say Heart did the same with this version of Stairway To Heaven:
"it's not a cover, they made it their own"

My high school and college years. Led Zeppelin was the theme music. And they, like me, are getting old. As I see their faces, as they watch their music, I reach for the tissues as well. Time passing.

Robert Plant, the singer of Led Zeppelin, doesn't like it when other artists do this song. After the show, he saw Nancy Wilson backstage and told her he loved Heart's version.

Great reaction to a great cover by a great singer. BTW, you pronounce Heart the same way my Dad would lol. Enjoying your channel here in Hamilton.

I happened to notice the video you watched is an edited version with bits of the song cut. For instance parts of the guitar-solo is missing. The full-length version can be found on youtube.

Youre awesome, just like this song. You look like Petra Kvitova the nerdy version (in a good way)

Verdy tears are a fitting response to something that beautiful. You just watched Rock&Roll HOFers pay tribute to Rock legends

Hi guarantee you're not the only one that got teary eyed. I'm 53 years old and the first time I heard this I did as well. Two of my favorite parts of the whole thing was saying the tears come down Robert plant's face and the other is a rumor but supposedly the hat and drum set Jason Bonham is using was his dad's

This is a wonderful reaction to an epic performance, thank you! I remember the first time I saw this... I had tears streaming down my face and I didn't even realize it because I was so caught up in the whirlwind of emotion. Thank you, again, for a terrific reaction.
