This brings back memories, my dad ordered his brand new 1953 Buick Skylark at the Montreal auto show with his name engraved in the steering wheel, my mom told me it cost around 10k including financing. It was like riding on a cloud.
10k$ ??, the Canadian dollar at that time was on par with the US dollar and in the 50's, a house in California cost ~5k$ so a 10K$ 1953 Skylark ? -- not likely. Of course now it is worth a bunch..
@@MrGGPRI My mother told me that years later, and she did say it was "almost" 10k including financing, I'm guessing she was thinking in the context of the current time. You're right, I just cheque and it sold new for $5k and they say GM lost money on every sale. I was 10 in 1954 and even though we didn't have the car that long my memories are vivid of my brothers and I washing it and polishing those chrome spokes one by one. My dad went bankrupt in 1954 and lost everything but the Skylark, which he sold using the money to start a new business, which I purchased in 1976 and it kept me going until last year when I shut it down and retired at 79 so the skylark turned out to indirectly be a good investment for us after all.

I don't understand why in the world the owner actually wants to get rid of this outrageously breathtaking car! Why would he not want to keep this forever???
But, coach might have greedy children that would not appreciate this beauty. I have a 1967 Mustang, but it’s in the will as to who gets it. I don’t think this child has any unmolested areas!
Because the car's value has been in six figures for more than thirty years! The pleasure of owning one is significant enough for some, but I too would probably have kept it.
What a great video. Loved the history. Loved all the detail you put into the video. You can really tell when you are having fun in the video and it really brightens up the shots. Keep it up !
Fantastic lines, just perfect. The car is quite wonderful too, but somehow I had trouble just watching what has to be one of the prettiest cars ever...

That "emblem" on the hood is called a hood ornament. The top "cover" is a "boot" luv. The hood ornament was something that was distinctly unique to cars at one time. It's a beautiful car. My father had a friend who bought one upon returning from the Korean War and kept it until his death in 2009; his widow gave the car that he promised me away!
Interestingly,my Father had a 1953 // DYNAFLOW Buick : yellow/ Black. Colors: at least for a few years , getting rid of it approx 1960( for a 1959 Dodge Station Wagon) .. I Do remember a few people mentioned the 53 Buick we had was a quality car...I had no car interest in those days .........
everything was beautiful, the car the girl and the information. why people making comments have to be ugly is beyond me. Maryanne, haters are jealous. ignore them. you did a great job. hang in there girl.
THE SKYLARK WAS ON THE ROADMASTER CHASIS AND ENGINE.BUT WAS NOT REFERRED TO AS A ROADMASTER. IT WAS JUST SKYLARK AND IN 54 BECAME ITS OWN LINE. BUT WAS CANCELLED AFTER 54. IT COST 50% MORE THAN A ROADMASTER CONV. AT $5,000.00 THE SKYLARK WAS A CUSTOM BODIED CONV. BUILT BY BUICK AT THE GM CUSTOM SHOP. IT CAME OFF THE LINE AS A REG ROADMASTER CONV THEN SENT TO THE CUSTOM SHOP. WERE THEY CHOPPED THE TOP AND RESHAPED THE DOORS. PUT WIRE WHEELS ON IT AND CUSTOM INTERIOR WITH CONTRASTING PIPING ON THE SEATS.

If you want to change your fortunes just try to see the best in everything and stay away from petty criticisms. Classy people only want to be around positive people. Life is more pleasant that way and time is precious.

Very good all the best with it all
A simple few second spray of silicone would eliminate the squeak in the trunk and hood hinges.

отличная машина, Я бы прокатился на ней по Красной площади в Москве.

Amazing!!!
Puts modern cars to shame with quality materials used throughout instead of everthing being made of plastic.
Plastic adds more flames and smoke when newer cars catch on fire but of course the star of the show is now the EV and their ultra-flammable batteries.
Modern cars suck, especially the goofy EV's.

A few strategically placed shots of WD 40 will have that hood working like new.

Yes, I was thinking same. WAY too much makeup which = FAKE bitch. But the Buick has an "ADORABLE" jar for fluid under the hood! L0L
