  • The Loch Ness monster has long captured people's imagination. This weekend, hundreds of aspiring monster hunters have gathered in the Scottish Highlands to search for the elusive sea beast, affectionately known as Nessie. They are aided by modern surveillence technology, including drones. The modern legend of Nessie began about 90 years ago. This 1934 picture of Nessie was later debunked as a hoax. But it has since inspired numerous books, TV shows and films.

The Loch Ness Monster legend is an absolute success story. Not only does it draw large flocks of tourists that sustain the economy of this Northern, resource-poor and very depopulated area, it also guarantees that the lake is very well taken care of: there's no pollution, water quality is "drinkable", and the shores are pristine!
I think we should have a Monster for every large lake!

The shape what people have seen resembled an upturned boat. Apologies for not being clear in my previous comment. There is archive footage of interviews with such as a retired head of Scotland's CID making such a claim. If Nessie were a Plesiosaurus for example and surfaced with its long neck below the water, it possibly would resemble an upturned boat. By the way, Nessie being a Plesiosaurus was first suggested, I believe, by Sir Peter Scott back in the 70s.

Cousteau and Edgerton had an expedition there in 1976 and found nothing. Just two guys at the top of their game. Why would media omit this fact? (My aunt Jean was Edgertons personal secretary and she was there)
