They’re the only country in history to vote against their own independence. They say it’s because they were told they couldn’t be in the EU but now that they’ve been dragged out of Europe against their wishes, the polls don’t show that they would vote for their independence now either. And they want Ed to keep the pound and the Queen for some reason.
I used to feel sorry for them but if they want their independence so little, they don’t deserve it.

Lets be blunt: Most Brexiteers (the ones in politics that sold it to voters) didn't genuinely expect it would happen. They acted opportunistically to get perceived short term political benefit from what was thought to be a large (but not majority) segment of brain dead UK voters, and end up with burnished political credentials for "fighting the good fight" against the EU, but ultimately "lose" the fight and still benefit from being in the EU.
Nobody thought that the segment of brain dead UK voters would actually be a majority in the referendum - not even most Brexiteers. This is why, post referendum, the Brexiteers were totally lost on what to do - even on the most basic question of what Brexit would look like. They were planning on celebrating with a stronger political position without crossing the brink. Instead, voters played along with the game of chicken and thought it would be a great idea to hit the accelerator and drive right off the cliff.

We have to become damn efficient at everything and go "cap in hand" to find our markets. Subsidies are so bad for a country economically as it stifles efficiency and innovation.
