Okay first of all...... The writing is nothing short of phenomenal!!! The tracking and full production is on point. The bass doesn't quite cut through as far as the "brightness" tone (in my humble opinion). Makes me wonder if properly spaced guitar "style" pickups could make for an unexpected tone... That being said, This track is incredible!!! Well done sir. Well done!!!!
I think one thing people seem to be neglecting as far as bass is the fundamental, everyone is so focused on the brightness that they forget having the lower mids around 150 to 500 in a bass present is what makes it crush through the mix and the sub lows for the inpact. Also any active mount style 8 string guitar pickup will perfectly fit an emg 40 size route if you want to experiment with guitar pickups on bass

I honestly see this as a trend in the near future. More low tune metal player will eventually transition into playing bass guitars plugged into a guitar signal chain!
There are a couple of bands doing just this. The Omnific is probably the most well-known. They are kinda like Polyphia, but with only basses and drums. Extinction Level Event is another band that are kinda like Meshuggah, but only basses and drums.
If I'm correct Chelsea Grin used bass instead of guitars on Desolation kf Eden BUT FOR LAYERING...so they recorded guitars and then recorded the same thing on bass,pan L & R,match the tone and voila,pure brute force under 150Hz

I think that the lowest string doesn't cut very well through the mix. It just sounds to bassy in my opinion. Maybe an 8 string guitar would sound better, but a part from that it's fenomenal. Congratulations for making such a track with just a bass.

I think it's proof that an extended range guitar can never fully replace a bass guitar.
