Hi there. Yes, you can import from iOS to Mac and most features will work fine. Mac to iOS however is not supported - you would need to export form Mac as audio tracks.

Pete Johns Thank you for the video tutorial. Do you have a video tutorial for moving projects from iOS to finish them on the Mac? I moved a project from iOS to Dropbox but when I try to open it on the Mac, it tells me the file can’t be opened
Dropbox doesn’t support the “.band” file format so what you will need to do is zip the file and then share. I show you how to do this in this video.

I just want to add a bit of spoken audio to a Keynote presentation, have been beating my head against it for about an hour, and - dear Pete - you have just told me the answer. The 192 kbit qualiy is an .m4a format, which Keynote can see. Job done. I thank you.

Hey there my friend. Yeah, there’s a big at the moment which is causing issues. You’ll need to use “open in” first and then choose “Save to Files”. Here’s a video explaining it. ua-cam.com/video/tPRKLssSdpg/v-deo.html

2 questions
5:46 what does the third option on the second row do? (The “Open In” choice with the App Store logo).
And secondly, none of this has to do with actually publicly sharing to iTunes for others to see? Sorry if that sounds a bit daft, I’m new to this. I was just worried since my full name was written down in the “my info” section when I exported my garage band file.

So once you export the song in high quality can you share it to UA-cam and sound cloud after words and it well be good quality..?
Hey there. Yes, it will still get compressed when you upload to Facebook or UA-cam, but when you start out with the best quality video the end result will be the best it can be.

Hey Pete, what’s the difference between Apple Lossless and an Uncompressed Wave file? And which would you recommend to export to SoundCloud? And do you know if SoundCloud compresses you file once you upload it?
Hey Ommar. As far as I’ve been able to discover, there is little difference between Apple Lossless, AIF and WAV. I use WAV because it is the most universally supported file format across all platforms.
I suggest uploading WAV files to SoundCloud in the highest possible quality (24-bit, 44.1kHz) as they do indeed compress for streaming playback.
Pete Johns Are all GarageBand synths supported by the 24 bit advanced setting? Some synths that I recorded in 16 bit audio sound very different when I switch on the advanced 24 bit audio setting. These are primarily Alchemy synth.
Hmmmm.... I haven’t noticed this personally. Switching to 24-bit won’t change old 16-bit recordings to 24-bit if they were recorded with 16-bit settings, but being virtual instruments I didn’t think Alchemy Synth would be impacted by this?

Hey Patrick. Alas, there is only bar numbers in GarageBand iOS and currently no way to add a time view.

What should the quality setting be for an email
You’ll need to use M4A - 256 should be okay. But if the file size is too large you can drop it down.

How can you add cover art to a file and the put it on UA-cam on iPhone?
Hey there. Generally not. It will just embed it in the M4A file. Generally you want to export as WAV files and then add the artwork separately.

I haven’t found a good way to do this using iOS, as the interface wants you to add details for each track. You can export multiple songs to your Mac or PC using iTunes file sharing and then queue up uploads from there, but that’s about he closest option to this.

I can’t play the audio mp3 on my file for some reason it only says the title but I can’t play the audio
That’s odd? This updated video might help. Make sure you are importing the file and not trying to play directly with GarageBand.
