@@thevisiblehand5439 There is absolutely no excuse for this, except maybe that the generally abysmal horror of file management in IOS doesn't even allow a user friendly smart process. But even then they could have cut a few extra steps. After all it's not the only counter intuitive way to do things in the Garageband interface.
Really annoying, I think Apple shoot themselves in the foot by deliberately making stuff incompatible. It seems obvious that people will use their pads as a portable studio but then want to export the files to a fully configured DAW for mixing/editing. I bought an iPad because I read how good GarageBand was on it........ very disappointed with it. So, off to get Audioshare and another level of complexity.

I believe so? It definitely is in Logic Pro but not sure about GarageBand Mac. Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
Yeah this is way too much hassle. You should be able to right click a segment of a track and immediately be able to select an option to convert to m4a or an audio track..
I need to export all the regions of my project as separate files how do I export regions (it doesn’t matter if you can’t do all of them I could just manually export each one) They are on the same audio recorder track HELP
There’s a few ways. Either duplicate the track copy the regions over on to separate tracks, or duplicate the project and then delete all but the one region before exporting each time. Or use automation to bring the volume up for each region. You got this!

Hi Pete, love your work, simple tips for tricky issues taught with great enthusiasm and energy 🙏⚡️ I have an issue I’m trying to solve, hoping you can shed some light? I’m currently working on a project in GarageBand for iPad, that has around 20 sections. I’d like to export only section “P”, but can’t seem to find a way to do so without GarageBand exporting all 20 sections as a single file. 😩 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Pete!
Yeah, so not a simple way to do it sorry. My advice is to duplicate your project, then delete all other sections. The bud should leave you with just the section you want and you can export. studiolivetoday.com/garageband

I usually end up exporting track by track solos via email, then import to my tascam dp24. I don’t use a daw. Time consuming, so I try to limit it to the basic rhythm tracks that define the length and structure of a tune. Once I get in too deep on a garage band project its too much trouble to export and I stick with it.
Thank you for this great tutorial - and also about adding the work-around with the "Open in..." bug! That was driving me crazy until you showed that piece! Many thanks!
A friend was sending all his GB songs as .M4a files and they worked great in GB. But he recently sent me a song as an .mp3. The MP3 would not change speed as I changed the tempo in GB, but the .m4a files were following whatever tempo I set in GB. Which led to the question. What BPM was the original recorded at? I asked him to start including BPM in the filenames.
Not really. I use this method on mixes I’m exporting now - ua-cam.com/video/Ch_Bi77yC0I/v-deo.html&feature=shares Might work for stems but I haven’t tried it.
Excellent video. I wanted to export tracks out of GarageBand and import as samples into Koala via AudioShare, but was getting strange results. The sound of my AUv3 synth changed in the song export for some reason and merging in GarageBand fixed it. I learned a couple things from this video. Thanks!
Hey I updated my iPhone 11 promax to iOS 13.6 yesterday and I still having a problem with my USB to lightning connector where it connects and disconnects over and over. So I contact Apple and they are going to send me a new USB to lightning for free. I don’t have to pay it. I don’t have to return the other one. They also going to send me for free the headphones with lightning. But once I get it. I’m going to try it and if it doesn’t work then will continue working on the problem to see if is the iOS 13.6 or if is the iPhone but it was working before on iOS 13.5 it got messed up ever since I updated my iPhone to iOS 13.5.1. It sucks a lot. If this cable doesn’t work he’s going to send me the other one lightning to USB 3. For free also. And if that doesn’t work I might back up my phone on iOS 13.6 first and then go to iOS 14 beta. Then try the cable and if that doesn’t work. I’m going to delete my phone completely and then either go back to iOS 13 or iOS 14 and see if it works after I delete my phone. And if that still doesn’t work. Then I’m going to order a new iPhone 11 promax and return this one. And hopefully that should fix my problem but if that doesn’t fix my problem then I am screw. Because I personally bought this phone mostly for recording and to use it also with 512 GB. Memory. And not be able to use it it’s not good for me. And the thing is that it was working since the beginning normal. And my cable works on any other iPhone except for this one. Because I have nine different iPhones. I even had iOS 13.5.1 on my iPhone XR and my iPhone 6s and I updated to iOS 13.6 on both and it still works on both So I don’t know what’s the problem. I’ll keep you posted. Talk to you later Pete
Pete Johns. Hey I got my free one-day delivery of that lightning to USB 3 cable and also the EarPods with lightning connection. So now I have 2 lightning to USB cables. But unfortunately The problem with the iPhone 11 promax where it connects and disconnects over and over still happening with the new cable so it Hass to be something with the iOS 13.5.1 or even 13.6. I’m going to try something different on Monday when I get my new USB hub with power supply. To see if there is some type of. Code been send from my first USB hub with power supply. But like I said. My iPhone XR and my iPhone 6s have iOS 13.6 and I had iOS 13.5.1 before and everything was working good with those phones is only happening to iPhone 11 promax. iPhone 11 Pro Max was working perfectly with iOS 13.5 or before that it was after I updated to iOS 13.5.1.

@@PeteJohnsMusic imagine, I know how to use studio one, live, logic, bigwig ,FL, Maschine, and I come to garage band on iPad and I have to do a search on youtube 😄
I'm beginner at Garageband and also starting play guitar, so you just saved my life with this tip to export file from Garageband. Now I could open it at Audacity. Thanks pal.
Very welcome my friend. Great to hear!
Thanks for this. Has GarageBand smoothed the export of stems since this video two years later?
Alas, no. It’s still just as painful. 😕
Looking like there is no way to export MIDI from iPad Garageband?
Alas…. No. (Not yet?)
Unfortunately, I have GB on a laptop, so the display looks nothing like this. Exporting a track as a "pure" AIFF file appears not to be possible. They export only as GB files.
Maybe check out the GarageBand Guide or perhaps the GarageBand Users Facebook group - studiolivetoday.com/gbu
this is WHY. i hate using i pad, ios. why should i do this all process? why apple make me follow their way? android daw make me click one button to mix down .
Cool! Use what works for you my friend. Freedom of choice is awesome.
Thank you for the wonderful tutorials / instructions. Very well explained. Kind regards! Cheers!

@@PeteJohnsMusic Yes indeed, I've subscribed, liked, clicked the notification bell. Really enjoy the other videos as well!
Is this possible to export seperate tracks on a MacBook? Thank you!
Yeah would be better. But it’s a free app and has its limitations.
The most helpful video omg. Would you say the quality will still be as good as using another daw?
Generally yes. It’s all digital audio in the end. 👍😎
Thank you for this!!!!!!
Happy to help.
Hey Pete, is there a way to import into GarageBand, I have stems I would like to put in GarageBand but just making sure if I can do it?
Yup, 100%. ua-cam.com/video/9NwsiCVAh3U/v-deo.html
What should I do if there part of my song with Fx ?
( I can’t save the FX stem separately )
Maybe consider merging the FX with the relevant tracks before you export stems.

I need to export all the regions of my project as separate files how do I export regions (it doesn’t matter if you can’t do all of them I could just manually export each one)
They are on the same audio recorder track HELP
There’s a few ways. Either duplicate the track copy the regions over on to separate tracks, or duplicate the project and then delete all but the one region before exporting each time. Or use automation to bring the volume up for each region. You got this!
I will go with moving them onto separate tracks. It’s not too boring to do that as I have done other things with my 145 regions I would like to export
Great video, Pete! Just subed! I wanted to ask you: I already made a song on GarageBand, but my GarageBand App has by default 16 bit enabled, I want to upload it to Spotify (I already got a distributor) so, my quesiton is, do I have to turn it into 24 bit for Spotify? What happens if I upload it in 16 bit? Will Spotify compress it and would it sound bad? I don’t really know much about this, and as you actually know about all this, I would like to hear an answer from you :) thanks in advance, Pete!
Hey there. Converting to 24-bit won’t change anything and isn’t necessary. 16-bit is CD quality and should be fine. 👍
Pete Johns Thank you so much for your answer, Pete!!! I’m gonna stick with 16 then! Keep it up, bro! :)
Awesome Awesome Awesome
🤘
You have save me HOURS of head and heart ache seriously thank you so fuxken much

Is any way to export individual loop as audio file from GB to file system?
Add to GarageBand, solo, export. No other way to access the files individually.
Greetings (...eetings...eetings) from the future!
I subscribed in the first 2 minutes of the video. Very clear and super helpful.
Just thought that I'd share that I am on v16.4 of iOS and the Open with... requirement remains.

@@PeteJohnsMusic I’ll try but likely be a bit late. I’m taking my 12yo to a soccer game. Thanks!
Hi Pete, love your work, simple tips for tricky issues taught with great enthusiasm and energy 🙏⚡️
I have an issue I’m trying to solve, hoping you can shed some light? I’m currently working on a project in GarageBand for iPad, that has around 20 sections.
I’d like to export only section “P”, but can’t seem to find a way to do so without GarageBand exporting all 20 sections as a single file. 😩
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Pete!
Yeah, so not a simple way to do it sorry. My advice is to duplicate your project, then delete all other sections. The bud should leave you with just the section you want and you can export. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
Ah, unfortunately feared as much. Thanks for taking the time to reply, looking forward to your future videos. Cheers 🙏
Thank you sir, super helpful! I’m attempting to become less of a GarageBand noob!
Haha! I shall help you do more creating and less pissy panting about mate.
This was very helpful. I was wondering if there's a way to record di guitar tracks on ipad without going through the amp sims. I'd like to rely on external hardware for my tone but still go di through my irig
Hey there. Yes, you can play through your outbound gear and use clean audio track. This will help. ua-cam.com/video/NGASmnMj9-U/v-deo.htmlsi=se3Y63YJzea3L-l1
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you! It's odd to me that they don't give you the option to record di without the amp sims. If I used an ir pedal the garageband sim would meddle with it, I think
Yo Pete! I haven’t been around in a long era, that’s because I’ve been hustling like mad on StoryFire. And for the time being I’ve got to keep hustling there, but just wanted to let you know I haven’t forgotten you and I’m crazy grateful for everything you’ve taught me. If you ever join StoryFire - cause man its _blowing up_ right now! - find me on there, I’ll be sure to give you some Blaze! (in-app currency; cashout is currently being worked on)
But either way, just wanted to take a second to say thank you for everything and extend an invitation to the future :)
I was literally just thinking about you yesterday and hoped you were doing well. I would love to use a new platform but already spreading myself way too thin here! 😁
Pete Johns Well when Twitter dies StoryFire’ll be there for you to replace that with 😂
Yeah! That’s why that I’m making My singing monsters ideas

Can you sell the track outs/stems on beatstars if some of the tracks in your beat were Apple Loops?
Apple Loops are able to be used in commercial projects but you can’t actually “license” them. So I’d imagine no.
@@PeteJohnsMusic I see, thanks 👍
I usually end up exporting track by track solos via email, then import to my tascam dp24. I don’t use a daw. Time consuming, so I try to limit it to the basic rhythm tracks that define the length and structure of a tune. Once I get in too deep on a garage band project its too much trouble to export and I stick with it.
Yup I hear you. The ability to export individual tracks at once would be awesome.
Thanks so much for these instructional videos!

Hey Pete, does the app from the second method change (normalize) the quality of the audio?
It doesn’t, so is better if you want to try to maintain a lower gain level on your tracks.
When I click select then share it doesn’t give me song option?
Very weird? Check out my FAQ and tutorials here. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
Super helpful video mate. Thanks heaps. Here I was thinking I’d have to premix tracks and play it into my Tascam. This has made my day 👍👍👍

so basically you have to solo the tracks and export one by one.
Pretty much unfortunately.

Yeah knowing the BPM is definitely keyboard. If you need to change it you can use something like this - ua-cam.com/video/VbEzhygQqgw/v-deo.html
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thank you! Very, very useful.
No way to bypass the normalization?
Not really. I use this method on mixes I’m exporting now - ua-cam.com/video/Ch_Bi77yC0I/v-deo.html&feature=shares
Might work for stems but I haven’t tried it.

Cheers my friend. Thanks for sharing your experience and I hope it works out for you there.
Awesome Pete 👍
