After all these years i marvel the most at Steve Swallow playing that simple repeating bassline and playing every note with full attention and love. That is the mark of a true artist!
From the Album 'I Can See Your House From Here' (1994), a conjoint effort by John & Pat, albeit listed under Sco's discography, production/studio team as well. This was my very first exposure to Scofield's playing, I bought it back in '94, right after it came out. A great record.
@1958jimmymac It's the first time I see them together. The album was great but this? WOW! The chemistry is pure. John's, Pat's and Billy's solos are amongts the best I've heard in a single performance. Even Steve's groove is inspiring. I can only hope that they will hook up again in the future; this is what it's all about! ;) Thanks again for the post; this is a true gift for me.
Modal Jazz is very challenging. It's very easy to sound trite and prosaic if you cant truly use the instrument to the fullest.John Coltrane and Miles Davis's Kind of Blue has many fine examples.Yes its an art form( in my and many musicians opinions)
Hmmmm. What should I wear tonight? My striped shirt tucked into my light blue jeans - white Nike runners? Maybe my all-white suit that's about 4 sizes too big for me. Tough one.
Hahaha they write their own style rules these jazz chaps, don't they? Metheny's nautical sweater is a favourite. I wonder if he has several identical garments in the wardrobe, like Einstein?
who cares what they are wearing..?..2 Giants of jazz guitar and rather talk about the music you are making jokes (..which are quite funny btw..) about their lack sartorial splendor..?..Seriously..?
@drkam6 You're welcome! Actually, this is nunoalpi's stuff. I was wise to salvage some brilliant pieces for my personal collection.. Sure, part 2 (in HD) is uploaded already. Enjoy! :)
Challenging doesn't have anything to do with whether something is good music. Now, I think this is good music, don't get me wrong. A modal tune is good if it sounds good, end of story. Giant Steps (a very challenging tune to play) is great because it sounds great, not because it is hard to play. /lecture over sorry :P
Hard to say...maybe..maybe not..you see any hints in particular?...or is it because of what he plays?.... in any event, he makes no secret about his past use. He got sober in 1999.
Kidding aside...Do you really give a sh#t what those guys are wearing?...that’s a super group! See (when musicians say it’s unfortunately that the general public ‘listens with their eyes’ ) most of you are proving that
Whats the deal with jazz artists with the attitude if don't like my music your just dumb. And just for the record I like Pat Metheny and john Scofield.

Una simbiosi perfetta tra tutti. Stupendo❤
John Scofield play the coolest choice of notes ever. I admire him so much
Scofield is KILLING it in this. 100%.
Scofield's solo is a masterpiece.

One of the best records I have :-)
Terrible scofield il as tant ecoute les autres guitaristes , qu'il rend ça de façon merveilleuse .une énergie folle!!
Scofield is in-and-out of the chords.
The sensation is bewildering, freaking, strange. Unique.
Pat Metheny make John Scofield solo shine by backing him up from about 4:15 - hear it yourself.
Needed that this morning! John Scofield, Pat Metheny and Steve Swallow. 'Everybody's Party'
Wow Pat metheny , love end of the world especially with the mediteranean video
Great tune.
louis CK killin it
massive respect to the bass player for just holding that riff down!
Scofield weaving those lines in and out, beautiful! Does anyone think his tone is thinner today than it was here.
Scofield solo is "Off the Heezy" again.
Schoenberg meets Jazz funk rock.
Splendid as usual!

Grandioso.....che tensione......
Великолепный дуэт! Великолепных музыкантов! Очень люблю творчество каждого из них-и вместе они-замечательны!
Dos héroes de la guitarra allí, feliz reunión, en hora buena 🎸🎸
Scofield is so good...
The Best Tune....RedOne...
4:12-14 -his famous string skipping lick that he turned into the opening motif for his tune 'Make Me'.
sublime! elegant! god bless!

More then 400 views comes from me, excellent, thnx for share.
Oh man, when this cuts off it's such a bummer! It was sounds so good! Then you gotta go and click in the other one hehe. This is really good
Really wild, Thanks for posting this.
Fantastic Video- I really enjoyed watching!
Best wishes, Max
Mike Pence on bass, Macaulay Culkin on drums and Louis CK on guitar. Damn, what a group!
Nah. its the bloke from CSI Miami on drums! The other bloke from MASH isnt bad on guitar either!
john baby.. Killin it
Super song and groove !...
渋いのが好き
Thank you so much for posting... Would you mind posting the part 2 (Pat's solo) in HD please... thank you
Very , Very Best
I dig all of Sco's guitar collaborations, but I think he sounds best with Frisell. Would love to have a Bass Desires show on DVD.
Hmmmm. What should I wear tonight? My striped shirt tucked into my light blue jeans - white Nike runners? Maybe my all-white suit that's about 4 sizes too big for me. Tough one.
"Okay, tell the truth: does this Gibson make my butt look big?"
Hahaha they write their own style rules these jazz chaps, don't they? Metheny's nautical sweater is a favourite. I wonder if he has several identical garments in the wardrobe, like Einstein?
Matthew - I've often wondered the same! lol.
Typical focusing on clothes when music is what you should have your focus on .
who cares what they are wearing..?..2 Giants of jazz guitar and rather talk about the music you are making jokes (..which are quite funny btw..) about their lack sartorial splendor..?..Seriously..?
Show!!! Very nice!
MY THUMBS UP!!
You'd be hard pressed to find a better bass player than Steve Swallow. He did a lot of work way back with Metheny & Bob Moses.
And the only guy on the bandstand that played with Thelonious Monk too
buenisimo !!
Love!!!
thanks
this is soul...does...nt matter if you white black arab or asian
amazing
Has Pat got a new shirt or did he buy a 100 back in 1980 when I first saw him...
bill's like, 'steve, stop looking at me with that face man, you're freakin me out!'
The Man in the White Suit is The Man.
What can go wrong when you got Brad Dourif on drums and Rutger Hauer on bass
Metheny has been wearing the same shirt since '82
💙🙄🌱🌾
goo gooo john
playing over one chord is done a looot in funk
is crazy man yes , yes
@drkam6 You're welcome! Actually, this is nunoalpi's stuff. I was wise to salvage some brilliant pieces for my personal collection.. Sure, part 2 (in HD) is uploaded already. Enjoy! :)
yeah!!! ...mad science!!!
That bassline has samplepotential
cool!!!
@ MacGuwi. Pat is using his guitar synth.
@ymz5 Thank you SO much!!
The part at 1:24 ... it's the same motif John Mayer & John Scofield use in I don't need no doctor.
wow !
where did you find this video ?
Gods on earth.
I wish Pat would buy a new t-shirt
Who has time to shop when all he does is play that ax!!
He's always on tour & rehearsals, no time to shop
What is it with the shirts Metheny wears. I guess when he was a kid he always really wanted to be a pirate.
If you could play guitar like him wouldnt you want to wear literally any shirt?
The bollocks!!!!!
Does John Sc play a Gibson or Ibanez?
Ibanez, John Scofield model.
its a 1980 AS 100 - not called the Scofield model until after 2000
His go-to axe is an Ibanez; a little smaller than an ES335.
Sco: Ibanez AS-200. Pat: Roland G-303 (the one he's playing on this tune) or Gibson ES-175.
Please raise your hand if you groove like Steve Swallow
4:37.. ohh the bass player..
Sco is literally drooling while he’s playing, is he lit?
2:00 Straight Life
Is that Larry Carlton playing the bass???
+P00TANARA
steve swallow :)
+P00TANARA
Nice nick!
I said the same thing! lol
What?!? No, it's Steve Swallow!
Playing over one chord is an art. Or is it?
cracks!
5:40 - 6:14 taking my guts out)
ohohohooh, im done.
Wondering for years, what’s the deal with the striped shirt thing Metheny did for awhile
Who is the bass player?
Steve Swallow.
John de Escafeld/Sheffield
How to: guitar face.

/lecture over sorry :P
i need to see pat's answer...
Утро начинается не скофилд
do you think sco is high on drugs here?
+Kuba Kolodziejczyk in the music biz, who isn't?
Hard to say...maybe..maybe not..you see any hints in particular?...or is it because of what he plays?.... in any event, he makes no secret about his past use. He got sober in 1999.
i guess it is,since it's not that easy keeping attention and enchanting by playing over the same chord for 15 min.
Bill Stewart bitches. Bad fuckin ass
non sapevo che Fabiano Vandone suonasse la batteria.......
Scofields tone is miles ahead of Methenys
Patrick de Mathenay.
can it get better than this ?
The bass player can't remember the B section.
Greg Kinnear on drums!
he's Bill Stewart!
Yeah, the skull shape is essentially the same. Bill is a great drummer, Greg is a a great actor.
supertuf
must be steve swallow
Where Is the Melody ? I don't like this way to do music
I love Pat ...
Kidding aside...Do you really give a sh#t what those guys are wearing?...that’s a super group!
See (when musicians say it’s unfortunately that the general public ‘listens with their eyes’ ) most of you are proving that
playing bass with a pick is strictly FORBIDDEN
Whats the deal with jazz artists with the attitude if don't like my music your just dumb. And just for the record I like Pat Metheny and john Scofield.
ı find this very uninteresting
