I never thought of using a longer piece to be able to hold it with your hand 😮
    This is awesome 😎

Thanks, man. I’ve been mostly a knife maker, but i’m having some fun starting to do these types of projects. Whole new skill set!

This is an awesome and helpful video. I'm new to blacksmithing.
And this is cool project regardless.
    But it's simple and intimidating.
    Thanks alot

There's a chicken an egg problem when you start smithing. Nowhere near enough skill or tools to forge tongs, and finding a set of 6mm v-bits online to hold stock. So what i had to do was buy 8mm v-bit tongs, make hooks etc with 8mm stock and then after many goes and watching @Phoenix Forge make a pair of round bar tongues about 20 times I finally have a set to make 6mm stock hooks lol

Ever hear about these breaking off? Lately I've been doing a flat taper instead of the shoulder, never liked how thin things get when you shoulder in 1/4" round, may just be overkill though.

Curious what you do with the hook when it is done to keep it from rusting?
