    Roy, I want to thank you for your videos like this one. Since I've started making "smaller ticket" items, my sales numbers have increased dramatically. I'm getting ever closer to being able to leave my day job and make my living through my smithing. It's amazing how one small piece of advice can make such a substantial difference in a person's goals toward success. Thank you again.

      We are so happy to be making a difference! Yes, smaller ticket items in quantity can help increase your pay, especially if you can make them efficiently! Thanks for being part of the channel. Blessings, Jessica and Roy

    It's absurd that people will complain about free information and demonstration, saying it isn't good enough. Unless there's something actually incorrect or especially dangerous about what is being explained, just be grateful!

    ahhhhh the memories... back when I was but a weeeeee lad in 7th, 8th and 9th grade before kids were treated as fragile beings we boys had metal shop. where we had the chance to learn the art of working metal. One of the projects was to make a screw driver.... using the gas fired forge and GASP the metal lathe. Don't let those who proclaim to know it all distract you ...takes talent to do metal work AND make instructional videos... I doubt the know it all's can't do one of those at a time. where as their talk is cheap and easy!

  • @BadForgeWeld
    @BadForgeWeld 5 років тому

    Just came across the video. I know it might involve a longer editing process, but if you pay any attention to nay-sayers and others who make comments on speed of production or whatever... maybe doing the video at speed and then doing a dub over the video with narration might be a good way to explain what you’re doing, what you’re thinking, your movement and methodology?? Great video overall.

  • @bobbertbobby3975

    I guess i dont understand the ppl who do blacksmithing and think they are only doing it to make money. Its kinda like every craft or trade...if you like to smith...you do the little projects so you can sell them..make some money..its tedious and all...and you may even find it hard "work" but i would think the reason you do it is so thatr you can then aford to do the more fun projects and more artistic projects that you really REALLY enjoy doing.
    Least thats my thinking.

    Not dissimilar from the hooks I've been making. Mine are long and straight with two holes on top and I've been hammering the tip around into a tight curl. Make'em out of 3/8th rebar hammered into a very gradual 6 inch taper. This is WAY faster and easier but, my rebar is free. I'm really just practicing my tapers and drawing out steel. I didn't want them to go to waste so, I made hooks. Love the channel Roy! Keep up the awesome hot metal action!

    I like your work. Very informative channel. Making jigs and using them is not only part of the fun but said jigs pave the way for the two "R's" of manufacturing: Reliability and Repeatability. Reliably Repeating a product which will increase profit. Less time manufacturing more time with your family or whatever you want to spend your time doing.
