Using all your handtools in making this project, and no power tools, makes it more unique and it puts all your energy in your work. Which makes it more unique and more yours.Using power tools, just makes it too easy, you have a awesome way of making your projects.

Beautiful work and the tranquility of the sound as the wood gives under the hand of a true craftsman.
To reinforce the short grain areas I think a nicely aged strip of copper or tin would only increase the aesthetics of such a piece.

so nice to watch a beautiful object slowly emerge from the solid wood (Walnut , did it say ?).
With the poor oceans so badly spoiled by plastics, we see a natural product, that will last for hundreds of years, but for the right reasons.
If one were to commission a bowl like this Star Bowl, about how much would it cost ?

Wonderful design, beautiful craftsmanship, great video presentation. Thank you Chris! You've helped me start 2022 off with a surge of enthusiasm for possible efforts in my life. I'm coming in on this about a year behind your work. I've subscribed and look forward to your other work.
Not really familiar with the ASMR label. People who have natural inclinations for handcrafting and woodwork, like myself certainly experience an undeniable, internal, sympathetic response and enjoyment seeing the processes, physical actions that are being done by another, especially a master artisan, as thoroughly enjoyable.
I suppose this is why so many people become enamored of virtuoso musicians - especially during age of Rock & Roll for guitarists and other band member performances. With woodwork and handcrafting, seeing the process being performed by experienced people must stimulate the mirror neurons and feed the viewer's brain with a tiny sample, or dose of the biochemical process happening in the artisan.
Your skill in capturing key moments of the process, and framing and finally editing the video all reveal your skill and mastery level in the necessary pre-production planning and mental foresight. Yet more range of skills in sharing, compassion, teaching. Wonderful stuff. Thanks again. 1-1-2022

Se è lecito chiedere , un capolavoro del genere fatto esclusivamente a mano e senza attrezzi elettrici, quanto può costare? Premesso che io non la venderei ; ma io sono io . Dio ti benedica Chris.

I'm amazed at how wide the sapwood in that tree is, compared to it's diameter. I'm currently working on a large sculpture using a 9 foot long section of a 42" diameter 880 year old Western Red Cedar. The sapwood varies from only 1/6" to 1/2" wide. By observing the tiny amount of sapwood, I conclude that the tree was at the end of it's life and barely hanging on before it was felled.
