You inspired me to go out to flea markets and junk jards to look for wood handtools. You showed me a whole new world!!! Thank you!!!
Thanks for letting me know! There is so much adventure and satisfaction in finding old tools and bringing them back to life!
Same, the only thing I regret, is that in my country there are very few flea markets, and there are no much fly wheels, or arr super expensive
@@marcelloramazzini5402 In Serbia, you can find basically anything on flea markets and scrap jards!! I bought a set of 30 Hirsch chisels for wood for just 27 euros !!! I was able to find some old WW 1 german, cast iron electric, and foot/crank machines!! Excellent condition, only little rust, or some parts missing or damaged, but nothing that cant be repaired or replaced. They selling it as old iron for some ridiculous price!!!
@@coveknamesecu I am VERY jealous!!
@@marcelloramazzini5402 Bummer!
Unreal!!! You are mad. Respect. With the amount of electric tools... You are doing the hardest way...
I just love doing it by hand!
When you were putting the harness on your dog.the dog was like "I don't know about this?"lol haha
That look was priceless
That was funny!
I love the sound of wood splitting and the echo of the maul hitting the wedge.
I'm glad there wasn't a skunk in the hollow log.
It’s very satisfying.
Dang ,those are some nice logs you have!especially the walnut.
I got lucky on this one. It was headed for the fire pit before I rescued it.
@@ChopWithChris no way! Definitely super lucky, you still have quite a bit left too it looks like, lots more projects
You did a very fine job building that sled! I liked the video, this walnut wood works good too. And you master the old techniques very well!
Thank you!
It’s always nice to watch your videos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks my friend.
Chris, you are a true craftsman. Your tool collection is so impressive and has got to be worth a mint!
Thanks. Most of my tools are from flea markets and auctions.
What an amazing build!the walnut looks awesome!
It was a wonderful log!
It's not often you see such detail in a video, and you still took the extra steps to add in a little comedy without words. Very nice work all around!
Thanks!
Man, that's a lot of manual work and good technique, very good job!
Thanks. I enjoy it!
Your artwork surprise me everytime.

Ha ha ha!!
I'm impressed. A great anthropological study.
No doint
i love it how you can clearly see how tough this hand work is and you Chris are a beast. You should charge the local fitness guys for a proper workout like this ;)
No doubt! 😄
No power-tools, no metal parts, some ancient technology, some well practiced skills and an incredible amount of hard labour. I’m impressed.
Thanks!
A real gem Chris....from start to beautiful finish. One question: how dry was that walnut log....with regard to if it was dry, no problem....if it was wet.....possible cracking or checking. Best wishes for a merry Christmas and prayers for a much better new year!
Thanks. The log was still green but the strips were so narrow cracking never became a problem.
@@ChopWithChris What a fantastic job! Thanks for the very interesting video :) Did the joints become tighter or more loose with drying? Any plans to reinforce the skids with metal or do they not wear much? Best wishes from Norway!

I am in love with your tools. you can't even get most of them any more.
Thanks. I picked up most of them at the flea market or auctions.
Gave him a log, old tools and things from the scrapyard. AWESOME STUFF Chris
I am a trained joiner.
Much of my knowledge for work with hand tools is gone. I should try to get in that back. Where are my Stanley's xD

Es un berdadero placer verte trabajar a la antigua usanza. Sin ninguna herramienta electrica. Muy laborioso y cansado, pero tiene que dar mucha satisfacción cuando se ve el trabajo terminado. Tienes mucha imajinación. Un saludo
Gracias!
I guess the Eskimos would die of jealousy - it's good that I'm not one of them .. LOL. Great job Chris !!! Thank you!!!

Sir u are a real craftsman, it was really awesome watching you work with just the basics my compliments to you!!!
Thanks!
Pascal Hemerik that’s how it be done in the eighteenth centuries and beyond
I'm a little envious of your broad axe. Not going to lie. Lol. Ive been wanting one that size after restoring my 6 inch.
It’s a beauty no doubt!
Your awesome man!!!!
Thanks!
Awesome! I really enjoyed this. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Another great project Chris! Your dog looks like he’d prefer to sit on the sled than to pull it. I miss seeing these projects up close.
He sure did! 😄. Thanks!
Nice job Chris , Stay Safe !!!.
Thanks and the same to you!
Sir, I split lots of locust posts and rails. One tip.... I switched from driving wedges with a sledge and started using a maul. That way, once you have a split going, just hit the gap with the maul and pop the pieces apart. Your work quality and video presentation are top notch and are much appreciated.
Thanks!’
Ese trabajo es el verdadero de un artesano, usando herramientas puramente manuales y una imaginación fantástica.
Gracias!
Dude, I know we bust chops, but I've got nothing......this is incredible.

Gracias! Gracias!!
robuste et léger ,beau travail !
Merci!
Super project and great all around skills. Love the use of handtools only. You must have magic stuff cause every time I tried to split a log longwise with wedges I always managed to get every wedge I owned stuck in the log and couldn't get them out.
Thanks! Bummer too!

That was awesome. As always, great job. I wish I didn't have arthritis, I miss woodworking on that level. I still craft, but I have to use power tools, or I would never get a project finished. too much toll on my hands.
Glad you enjoyed it. Take care!
