Always a treat to see a master craftsman at his work. Easily distinguished by doing amazing work and making it look easy and only comes with years of hard work and effort. The results speak for themselves! Outstanding work, as always, Chris; thanks for sharing.
Incredible as always Chris. I really admire your work. Plus the sound of the wood being worked is very soothing. I hope you enjoy that beautiful bowl for years and years.
When in High School I loved wood shop. I just shared your site with my son. I can still smell the wood and loved how Walnut stained my hands. Im so lucky to have stumbled upon your site. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Chris....a couple of things: that stock was pretty green and you read it beautifully....your skills are amazing but what really puts you in a special craftsmanship category is your abiding patience and perseverance. Fine work...best wishes...and stay healthy.
This was such a lovely video to watch..This is a dying art form ,you do not see many people who can do this..You have created a beautiful Art Bowl ,hand carved with love of the wood and pride of doing a good job..Well done such a change from rush ,rush and finish as fast as you can ..I love the shape of the bowl too 😀
Beautiful work, Chris! I love your ingenuity and homage to hand tools. Your videos are really skillfully produced, very informative, and entertaining. I've been holding chisels upside down! I've begun to craft spoons from scrap wood and firewood logs and am going to try bowls. Thanks - you are a great teacher!
Chris! You keep being awesome, and continuesly getting MORE awesome. Love the slow mo shots, sitting here drinking coffee and just enjoying. Would love a tool list in the description for the future!
I really love to watch your Videos Chris, they are stunning amazing and very interesting . Can´t wait to see more from you . Greetings from Bavaria/Germany
I think about my father, while watching your videos. He loved working with wood and carving. He would have enjoyed watching your ASMR vids...he was a man of few words. I miss my dad. He was talented like you. Thank you for your dedication to honor the past generation !!📐📏🪓⚒️🥽🙂
The bowl is a master piece. Excellent craftmanship. Are you able to re-saw with that foot powered bandsaw? I wish I could find tools like that clamp and the huge saw that you used. All I find are power tools. Thanks for sharing
Really great work. Respect to you and your skills. I do not know how anyone could give this great work a thumb down. Keep up that great work. Really inspired me.
With craftmanship like this youve just flund yourself a nes subsriber! I love videos like this, what makes them a little better but not always needed is a bit of random story telling. Either way though keep up the awesome work
Do the straps on your forearms help with preventing "tennis" elbow? I always get it from extended heavy hand tool use. I don't why its tennis elbow anyway, it should be axe elbow in my case.
A fun addition that would probably add a couple hours: Pitch the inner rib toward the swell on each side so the pitch is open to the larger end of each cavity, creating a transition in the middle. Would be tricky, but it would add a movement concept. Still this is a great looking piece!
Really nice work! i have a question, you put that white liquid/cream to prevent it from cracking because the wood was green, i get it. But then, once you finished working on it, why wouldn't it crack anymore? Why no need for this cream anymore? Did you also put it inside too? Other one, how about sandpapering, i expect the answer to this question is gonna be "depends on ones taste", but when do you feel like it is necessary? i tend to sandpaper everything, i guess i abuse it
I dried the bowl slowly inside paper and plastic bags. I don't use much sandpaper because a hand carved bowl should look hand carved - with tools marks.
You sir are a magician, an artist, and a woodworker combined. I noticed that you sawed into the carving bench @15:31. Do you change the bench often, or do you just reinforce it in some way?
Keeping tools that sharp is a skill in itself
No doubt!
discovered 10 minutes ago, already lost for words!!
when skill meets patience, there's the art!!
incredible!!!
Thank you very much!

That’s an amazing bowl. Your talent is only matched by your patience. Take care of those elbows. Tendinitis can wreak havoc for a long time.
Thanks! The straps make a big difference on the elbows.

Are you able to re-saw with that foot powered bandsaw?
I wish I could find tools like that clamp and the huge saw that you used. All I find are power tools.

Chop With Chris interesting. Thanks for the tip! Looking forward to the next video. :)
Do the straps on your forearms help with preventing "tennis" elbow? I always get it from extended heavy hand tool use. I don't why its tennis elbow anyway, it should be axe elbow in my case.
Exactly. I got a bad case of tendinitis in my elbows a few years ago and these straps make a huge difference!

Nope!
When you store you’re wood how do you stop termites from ruining it
If I think there are termites in it I either don’t use it or keep it in a separate pile.
Good job , humble m.
Thanks

So sloppy on my part. I did reinforce it.
Beautiful work man!
Thanks my friend. I hope all is well.
@@ChopWithChris And a nice choice of wood. Cherry is wonderful. I made one of my best spoons out of a cherry branch from my garden :)

Дру мой, ЭТО ПРЕКРАСНАЯ РУЧНАЯ РАБОТА!!!!
МОЁ ПОЧТЕНИЕ!!!
Are any of your tools inherited?
Also on a side note, one side for chips, the other for dip
No. I collected them all of them.
We watched a video where you debarked a log. Did you make the debarking tool yourself?
I found it at a flea market
Nice job Chris. I wander how did you get the shape of the leather for gouge sharpening (6:40) Could you share?
I took a plastic oil funnel, cut it in half, and glued leather to it.
@@ChopWithChris Great idea. Thanks.
