I just brought up this video & you caught my eye immediately. You bring back memories of when my father used these old hand tools. I was so intrigued by them & my father’s talent for their uses, he promised me he would leave them to me. That was 62 years ago. When my mother passed all his tools were missing. I have only a few tools but not the gouge chisels. I love your work & the memories you brought me. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.

Welcome back Buddy Bud. I've missed you a lot. Still amazed at how you can see inside an old dead log. A lot of woodworkers work very hard at sanding away their tool marks but even your tool marks are beautiful. I hope you have some more content coming up.

It's gorgeous, beautiful and amazing 😍😍😍
Love watching you use the spokeshave - it's just so satisfying!
I just started carving and therefore I started to watch woodworking and carving videos - the only thing I can think of (as a beginner with carving as my focus) is that carvers almost never use straight chisels, cause if you want a flat surface they will leave marks on the edges - you don't have that problem (probably because you are used to working with straight chisels)... So I wouldn't be embarrassed about your carvings, cause it's working - and this one in particular is simply wonderful!

First time watcher, very nice effort 👍👍. Made me flash back tol a better time and my family's history. In the late 40s' after the war, my Grandfather, my Father(before I was born) and his 3 brothers, purchased 40-45 acre wood lot with a spring and a small sand pit near Galway Lake in upstate NY, then went about building the family camp which eventually became Gram and Gramps year around home. And, with the help of a few neighbors and friends dragged a '50 Buick frame and engine up to the sand pit converting it into a saw, using the lumber from trees on the lot for the house and garage/ workshop(the look of your shop and tools reminded me of Gramps workshop). None were artists like you, but did everything by hand, even a lot of the tool making.(No "Home Cheapo's" back then😀) The "camp" still stands today so I guess they did okay, and I'm guessing it will stand through a quite a few more Northeast winters since all the rough cut lumber is well oversized. They never put in central heat, and my Grandmother always cooked on a wood stove(and usually had holiday meals for 10-15). She was a 5', 95lb Canuck born in the blizzard of 1888 telling us grandkids stories of making bathtub gin and selling pints for a nickel at lumber camp dances. She lived until 98 years old, healthy until the onset of Alzheimer's the last couple years of her life. Keep up the great work and God Bless.

@@ChopWithChris That's awesome you met Roy...he inspires so many I told him once ,after nearly decapitating himself on an antediluvian lathe ,your a national treasure and should be more careful. I can see from your work that you agree whole heartedly in the belief of how do I say almost bond or somehow get closer with the wood ? Roy teaches that we kind of put something of ourselves into the things we create from wood and there's a part of that missing when we utilize tools that have their own power source I probably sound like a screwball but I really believe that and masters like Mr Underhill and yourself keep that connection alive and I hopefully follow in your footsteps . The day I wake up and cannot learn something from teachers like Roy or yourself will be a sad day indeed on account I will obviously have become senile. I'm looking forward to your next upload and keep an eye out for Roy's next project he's not ready for retirement just yet!

What a man can do with an old moss covered rotting log . Beautiful ! When it is a masterpiece to behold , then you ......... apply the brand . Mankind can never be perfect . Our egos will never allow it .
