Back in the 80s people felt that Grateful Dead shows were ruined by “Touchheads”, people that only came to see the band after they had a top 40 hit called “Touch of Grey”. These people didn’t know how to conduct themselves at Grateful Dead shows and weren’t really there for the music, they were just there to party, and they caused enough problems that many of the things fans were able to do for shows ended.
It seems like now a lot of artists have their own version of Touchheads to deal with.

I love death grips. It's depressing how so many people in the community don't really "get" the band, they just think it's funny to like experimental and aggressive music ironically. They like being seen as artsy and unique, but don't actually care about the art itself, it's all aesthetics.
DG is cool. And weird. And at times pretty stupid and shitty. But they deserve attention, and to be taken seriously. Whether that be for what they do right, and what they've done wrong.

This is a pretty bad argument, especially considering irony is such a big part of death grips' whole vibe. Ride even references memes pretty frequently in his lyrics, and there's undeniably a lot of surreal humor incorporated in their music too. I personally love art that utilizes irony, satire, sarcasm, and all that stuff, and I think people who like that kind of art tend to engage with it in a similarly "ironic" way. There are definitely some people who just view death grips as a complete joke to be laughed at, similar to Cory Feldman "fans", but there's a huge difference between those people and actual death grips fans who simply have a sense of humor

The issue is that select people, not even close to all, feel like they need a “mature” reason to like something so they go to people like Fantano to feel like they are better at being fans. One thing I love about Death Grips is they carry their belief in individuality. No one sounds like Death Grips and Death Grips doesn’t sound like anything else. I think their fans are rabid because they’re very private about how they carry themselves. Once you have that mix, fans will do things to try and get attention or try to get them to react. It’s sad. They’re just about the music but people try to get further into the relationship and will do anything to get their attention.
P.s. - No one can play drums like Zach Hill. His drumming seems humanly impossible. Seeing clips of him practice always makes my hairs standup. They’re the definition of making art for arts sake and driving full force with it. This is how people reacted when Zeppelin or when punk got started. It was so different but so well put together that it made people wonder how they made music like that. Their production is incredible, dude.

I feel that your point of Fantano having a significant impact on the Death Grips fanbase is a really interesting one.
When I still interacted with the community in 2020-2022, I noticed that whenever I would talk to someone, more often than not their opinions and what they had to say about the band largely aligned with whatever Fantano said in one of his reviews. It didn't bother me at the time, as I just thought certain opinions were more of a general consensus than anything, like how people say seasons 1-3 of Spongebob are the best. Thinking that over now though, it really makes me think they weren't listening to Death Grips because they genuinely liked it, but rather listened to it as a way of coming off as more "musically cultured" or different. To mimic Fantano in a way.
I have had my fair share of run-ins with melonheads before when it came to other bands I really enjoyed, like Daughters and SWANS. And throughout my interactions with them it was almost always the same kind of conversation. It was always as if I were just relistening to a Fantano review. It kind of made socializing in many of the music communities I wanted to really difficult for me, as I would also typically be lambasted over having a differing opinion than what these guys believed, instead of us just having normal conversations about music.
I have been outright chastised for saying that my favorite Death Grips albums are Jenny Death and Year of the Snitch, because they weren't The Money Store. No matter how much I would say I loved that record in it's own right, they would still just schold me as if I did something heinous.

I love Death Grips but I despite a good majority of the community. There are some people that are actually pretty nice and genuinely love to talk about the music and the production and all that, and then there's the other side full of the annoying violent mfs that think causing huge fights at a Death Grips concert is "normal" and belittling others because their opinion is different is fun.

As long as Zach Hill's newer band Undo K From Hot releases more stuff, I'm fine with Death Grips not coming back. "G.A.S." is a shockingly underrated album - as hard as Death Grips and even more challenging and rewarding.

I was at the Detroit show in 2023, before the show even started some kid ploughed his way to the front of the crowd knocking people over while literally no one was moshing. I was pissed because he lacked the etiquette you need to have a good (and safe) time. This kinda set the tone for how the rest of the show went.
Lots of people turned out to be like this, it wasn’t even regular moshing, which I expected because it’s death grips (it’s gonna be an intense show). But it got to the point where if you were knocked down no one was gonna help you get up or even make room. If the crowd was settling to sort of catch their breath there were still idiots pushing and jumping around while the people around them didn’t move, making everyone uncomfortable and even hotter. Some people were just straight up beating the fuck out of each other.
It was cool but at the same time you need to be aware of what your doing and still respect the strangers around you, there was enough people there doing that to completely ruin the show, like they’ve never been to a concert before.
To all the degenerate kids who are going out in public for the first time, just cuz you’re at some death metal concert or some shit doesn’t mean you get to disrespect everyone around you and potentially trample them to death.

you say "death grips fans are hated online".. yet I haven't actually seen this on any sort of large scale, this seems like a made up mass opinion, which I've been seeing a lot of recently, people saying "why does everyone hate this thing", and yet it's barely anyone actually hating that thing, is that just the new content idea? cause it sure as hell seems like it, especially with music, youtubers making videos like "why everyone hates the new yeat album" or "why everyone hates the new Travis Scott Album" or "why everyone hates the new Kendrick album" and so on, when a majority of the people actually like the album, this feels like the same shit, as someone who watches a lot of music content and is involved in a lot of music communities, this seems pretty far from the truth, death grips aren't even really that popular, and most people online have no idea who death grips even are, let alone the fanbase, really it just seems like people dislike Fantano, and therefor dislike anything he supports, cause the only time I see people hating on death grips fans, is in relation to Fantano, but even hating Fantano isn't that big of a thing online, so this entire video just feels forced
