So glad i found this now. im brand new to swimming this year but i swam a 32.06 50m free so i got put on the team. worked on breaststorke today in practice and i was NOT getting it. my timing was all off and i wasn't really going anywhere. I decided i'd figure out how to do it by watching some videos. i watched a few before this but they seemed more complex, not really getting to the details. Couldn't be happier about this video i found. Thanks so much!

I started learning swimming with my coach. I saw this video and thought that it was easy to do. I was very sure, I even did movements in my bed in advance. But once I started swimming in pool, I was completely lost like a baby :D I was doing right just for 3-4 seconds only. It seems I need lots of practice (which my coach told me). Thanks a lot for this videos, it helps me much when I see actual underwater movements.
You are so welcome! I am glad that my video helped you correct your wrong technique. Keep me posted on your progress and if you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. Good luck with your swimming.
I found your video truly good, specially because you explain what each movement does. I'll show it to my kids too, as they're now old enough to understand how the strokes work. THANK YOU

Hi, thank you for detailed instructions. I could achieve most but I don't have enough time to inhale after my head is out of water. Head sinks immediately. Any hints?
The inhale phase is very short as our hands are not stretched out front when breathing. It's natural to sink fast. So make sure you breathe out under water before your head pops out of the water. You'll get more time to take a breath.
I've been swimming breastbone for 70 years and just learned the following from your excellent video: the arms should go down perpendicular to the body and not swept back further below the body, bring the arms forward with the palms pointing upwards before joining the hands in prayer position, legs brought close to the backside and turn feet outwards when kicking, start the kick when the arms are halfway to fully extended and not to wait forthe kick when you start the glide. Keep practicing, and you'll likely notice further improvements in your swimming. If you have any more questions or need additional guidance, feel free to ask. Happy swimming!
I've got the pull and breath down. My kick is pretty good too, but I need to deal with the glide. Then my SWOLF will improve. Great video, it really improved my pull. Thank you!
This is so well explained with precision. I am finding your videos more helpful than my actual swim lessons! Please keep up with these great videos. They are life changing

Dude you are brilliant. Keep up the good work. Just a random question, out of all strokes which stroke is llightest on the shoulders and which one is the hardest on the shoulders...... I have a little shoulder issue. Wanted to know regarding that. I do swimming for cardio only and i am 48 years old. Thanks
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you're enjoying the video. As for the question about strokes and their impact on the shoulders, it's difficult to say which stroke is the lightest on the shoulders because it can depend on a variety of factors such as technique, body type, and fitness level. However, generally speaking, breaststroke and backstroke may be easier on the shoulders than freestyle (front crawl) and butterfly, as these strokes involve less overhead arm movement and rotational force on the shoulders. That being said, it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or a swimming coach if you have a shoulder issue, as they can help you determine which strokes and techniques may be best for your individual situation. In the meantime, it's important to listen to your body and avoid any exercises or activities that cause pain or discomfort. - Niraj (CDO)
Thank you for the video. At 55, i had never swam the breaststroke until this morning. It wouldnt havent happened without the instruction which gave me enough courage to suck at something new. But tomorrow morning, I’ll suck less. Thanks!

You're welcome! Make sure to check the kicking part of this video and practice the points mentioned. Basically, your kick generates most of the power in breaststroke. You have to flex your feet and squeeze as hard as you can to redirect water back. - Niraj (CDO)

@ Yes worked well. I’m going again Friday to continue with it. I always take big wide arm strokes thinking they should do all the work but have altered that and walking round the house like a penguin.
Coach, this video is very helpful to me! Water was never my friend in the past but I see the importance of swimming so I’m learning breaststroke now. Your video had given me good perspective about breaststroke and I’ll practice it! Thank you

I watched lot of youtube videos and found this masterpiece, perfectly and thoroughly explained everything. Thanks for the video. Though it’s easier to watch on youtube while applying not able to do this properly. And my trainer makes fun of me, instead of correcting it. Problem is my legs automatically goes down when I come out for breathing.
I'm glad you found the video helpful! Remember, learning to swim takes time and patience, and everyone progresses at their own pace. As for your legs sinking when you breathe, it's a common issue that many swimmers face. Focus on maintaining a strong and steady kick, and try practicing breathing drills to improve your technique. Don't be discouraged by setbacks - keep practicing, and you'll get there!
@@RocketSwimming Thank you for your reply and motivation. I was feeling inferior because my trainer used to insult me, but you really understood my problem even I didn’t share much. Thanks a lot. This is trait of good trainers. We need trainers like you. If possible could you explain more about what does strong & steady kick means?

Thank you! Rushing the kick is a common issue, but with focused practice, you can definitely improve. Keep working on it, and you’ll see progress soon!
nice video. strait to the chaise. you are talking a bit about it. but it would be nice with a more detailed description about the feet fazes. i haven't found a video yet. about where do you feel the water pressure, on you feet in all the fases. for me it feel like 2 steps.(after heals up) first the kick and then a transition where i turn my feets inwards a bit. and then kick back. feels like i catch more water when i turn my feet inwards a bit for the last fase. but i don't know if it right? if i dont turn my ankle it feels like its the side of the feets that have contact with the water and cuts through it. or have it misunderstood it all and its the water between the legs that you get the energy from when you kick back? could be funny with color in the water, so we could see the energies :)
Thanks for your feedback! You're correct that the angle of your feet can impact how much water you catch and how efficiently you move through the water. Regarding the feeling of water pressure on your feet during different phases of the kick, it's common to feel pressure on the tops of your feet during the upward phase of the kick and on the bottoms of your feet during the downward phase. Keep up the great work, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions or if there are specific topics you'd like us to cover in future videos. I'm glad you found the video interesting! Yes, pulling too wide or with improper technique can definitely contribute to shoulder pain. Make sure to focus on a more streamlined stroke with proper alignment. Try to keep your elbows high and your pull more under your body rather than wide. It might also help to incorporate some shoulder-strengthening exercises and stretches into your routine. Take care of those shoulders!
Thanks for the video! You have excellent teaching skills, and I found a few tips here that I haven't seen elsewhere, which I will try out. Liked, subscribed, and looking forward to finding more videos on the channel. Thanks so much!!

Very clear and accurate explanation. The only topic that I would like you to discuss is timing. Most swimming coaches say that the kick should occur at the end of the pull. Stroke, Kick and Glide in this order. To be honest I have always had difficulty to kick just after performing the stroke. It is as if I were breaking the rhythm. Thank you very much !
Thank you for your insightful comment! I will definitely create a more detailed video on timing and rhythm of Breaststroke. Remember, it's okay to find certain aspects challenging, and with practice and patience, you can improve your rhythm and coordination in the water. Keep up the great work, and thank you for your feedback!
Thank you! I'm glad you found the explanation excellent! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. Happy swimming! 👍😊🏊♂️

Thank you for the video. At 55, i had never swam the breaststroke until this morning. It wouldnt havent happened without the instruction which gave me enough courage to suck at something new. But tomorrow morning, I’ll suck less. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for simple and to the point video. What should be done for powerfull
Kick
You're welcome! Make sure to check the kicking part of this video and practice the points mentioned.
Basically, your kick generates most of the power in breaststroke. You have to flex your feet and squeeze as hard as you can to redirect water back.

Thank you. I think I can do it again. I'll try it on the weekend
You're welcome! Let me know how it goes for you, okay?

I am a sw imming instructor & will often look at how other's explain the stroke, this was a fab video, nice work, we use similar words, scoop & shoot...lol
Thank you so much and it means a lot to me that you are referring to my video for instructions. Keep up the great work! Maybe you can also share my channel with your students?
Wow, best instructions ever, thank you!

Really good explanation. I seem to swim very busy going nowhere and get so tired. I am going to try this later today.
How did it go?
@ Yes worked well. I’m going again Friday to continue with it. I always take big wide arm strokes thinking they should do all the work but have altered that and walking round the house like a penguin.
Coach, this video is very helpful to me! Water was never my friend in the past but I see the importance of swimming so I’m learning breaststroke now. Your video had given me good perspective about breaststroke and I’ll practice it! Thank you
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am really happy for you. Practice and don't forget to keep me posted on your progress, okay?
Good explanation. Thanks for the video

This seems like the best level of detail I've seen for the breaststroke.
Thank you so much! I'm glad that you found the video helpful.
This is SUCH a good explanation. The best I've seen on UA-cam. And the place markers are really helpful too. Thank you! 🙏
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your positive feedback.
Thank you so much! I watched this over and over again and finally I can do breaststroke! I just can't believe it! It finally happened!
Congratulations! I am really proud of you. Don't forget to practice daily. Happy Swimming.

The video is perfect! I just have the issue about my feet not flexing, can you explain me how can I fix it in a more deep way?
Thank you so much! You should do dryland feet flexing drills. Search on google "feet flexing drills" and you'll find a lot of results. It may be the mobility issue with your ankle. Keep me posted.
Thanks for your lesson.

Very well explained, I'm one of those people who rush the kick but I'm sure with more practice I can correct that
Thank you! Rushing the kick is a common issue, but with focused practice, you can definitely improve. Keep working on it, and you’ll see progress soon!
Very good instructions....

nice video. strait to the chaise.
you are talking a bit about it. but it would be nice with a more detailed description about the feet fazes.
i haven't found a video yet. about where do you feel the water pressure, on you feet in all the fases.
for me it feel like 2 steps.(after heals up) first the kick and then a transition where i turn my feets inwards a bit. and then kick back.
feels like i catch more water when i turn my feet inwards a bit for the last fase. but i don't know if it right?
if i dont turn my ankle it feels like its the side of the feets that have contact with the water and cuts through it.
or have it misunderstood it all and its the water between the legs that you get the energy from when you kick back?
could be funny with color in the water, so we could see the energies :)
Your explanation is great 😊 Tks Million!
You're welcome! Glad the video was helpful for you. Let me know if you're from US.
Very interesting video. I recently got shoulder pain from swimming. I think I pull way too big. Could that be a cause?
I'm glad you found the video interesting! Yes, pulling too wide or with improper technique can definitely contribute to shoulder pain. Make sure to focus on a more streamlined stroke with proper alignment. Try to keep your elbows high and your pull more under your body rather than wide. It might also help to incorporate some shoulder-strengthening exercises and stretches into your routine. Take care of those shoulders!
Thanks for answering. Seeing a PT today. But videos like this help a lot to improve my technique once my shoulders is recovered. @@RocketSwimming

Do you live in United States? Let's talk!
@@RocketSwimming hi, sorry - I'm in Scotland - the other side of the 'large pool' :)
@@euan1234 No worries! Happy swimming.
Hi. Thank you for the video. I’ve always sinking deep down after taking breath. How to fix this?
