Yes, it is critical to pay close attention to how your knees track while squatting. By that I mean make sure they don't 'cave in' while you're doing the squatting motion, they should track directly over or slightly to the right of your ankle depending on what feels better for you. Also, where your feet are on the pedal can make a big different too. Because the pedals are so close together on this machine it encourages your knees to sort of cave in, having longer legs and lots of body mass I felt it in the knees at first before I corrected my form as well. I’ve been doing 10 minutes a day and I haven’t worked out in a couple of years.... over a week in, it’s definitely giving me results, my thighs hurt, but I’m seeing tightening in my glutes and my arms and abs already!! Have always wanted to try that stepper! Good to hear it works well too, going to have to track one down thank you! Yes this little machine is great also!
Started yesterday with one band and you definitely feel it in no time. Wondering if yourself or anyone has noticed any ab burn whatsoever after using it. Thanks
Why is it that you're able to start using the machine from a seated position, but then I see on Amazon people talking about how they need to start riding it from a standing position and have to 'jump' on it almost like a pogo stick?
Great observation! I'd used it for a long time and built up the necessary strength in my thighs. The seated position is the hardest position, think of it exactly like a deep squat, maybe harder because of the bands.
I dont get quad burn after 15 minutes never mind less than a minute having said that its good for womens types of bodies.I would say after 10 minutes I do get my heart in the aerobic zone which is good and my legs feel tired after 15 minutes and my arms feel it the next day im pleased I got it but you can't compare this to a spin bike workout for example, but still its very good just not for making any muscles burn in my experience but worth the money all the same.
Seriously?! With all three bands you don't feel a burn? You must have quads of steel or perhaps your bodyweight to muscle mass ratio is better than mine. Brother my quads are on FIRE after 60 seconds. And it's not like I'm not in shape, I do hill sprints, can power hike a 1000m mountain from bottom to top in under 60 mins and inline skate ultra marathon distances. I'm impressed by your endurance!! This thing gives me the same burn a spin bike does.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Yep seriously 🙂. All three bands as well and I'm nowhere near as fit as you and a fair bit older I would imagine. I do like it though only trouble is spare parts can't be shipped to the UK so I better not go mad on it. I do like the scenery in your video obviously not the middle of the road🙂.
@@Steve-ou2kd brother if you can do 15 minutes on this thing without feeling the burn you're way fitter than I am!! Oh yeah I bet shipping spare parts across the pond would be a pain for sure. Thanks for your comment friend have an awesome day!!
How is it for size? I’m not super tall but at 6’2” sometimes these things don’t fit for use. Loving your videos, appreciate your honesty and the montage here is killer lol.
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun to film ha ha. This thing is surprisingly adjustable, at 6ft 220lbs I found it accommodated my frame very well and had a notch or two left to go so it would probably even work well for someone as tall as you. This is the best price of winter workout equipment I've ever owned. Hope it works as well for you too if you get one!
Awesome!! Happy to hear it works for you too. It definitely changed the shape of my butt as well as a nice little side benefit that I hadn't even expected! Thank you for your comment!!
Thank you Rachel! Honestly i haven't tried the basic rower so unfortunately I can't give an opinion on how they compare. Maybe it's time to order one! -Jamie
It doesn't really work out your arms but you will lose belly fat if you use it in conjunction with some kind of caloric restriction diet. It will definitely put muscle on your legs and butt and increase your aerobic capacity!
Hi Susan, I think it could strengthen the muscles around your knee while being very low impact. I've dealt with knee issues in the past and I find this to be very comfortable, as well as inline skating. Hope that helps!
I want this stupid f-ing machine but I am concerned it would not accommodate my (lack of) height. I’m 4’10”. Will the seat or pedal adjustments on board be sufficient? Whad’ya think? And thank you in advance!
I like your spirit, sounds like you need a machine like this too! My former partner of many years was 4'11" (she actually filmed the outdoor scenes in this video). She used the machine too on the 'most compact' setting and liked it just fine so I want to say it will work for you too! Buy it from a place like Wally's just incase, its really easy to return it there if it doesn't work out. Apparently you can return things to scAmazon as well, although I havent had any luck doing that they always make me give up first. Hope you like it!!
Thank you so much for the sub my brother! Much appreciated 🙏 glad you enjoyed, hoping to start making more like this just have to stop being such a slacker! Have a good one dude
What an excellent thought provoking question! I think it is better for people who have knee or hip issues. I do both (use this machine and do bodyweight squats) but I find I get a different type of burn from this machine, it isolates the upper thighs without putting any stress on my knees and lets me preform reps faster and smoother. That being said I really feel like there is no replacement for deep, slow and controlled bodyweight squats. I hope that answers your question! It's not really yes or no, I find both movements really compliment each other. Thank you for the great question!
Great question, I think you are safe with this machine, I have felt zero burn in my calves ever using it. The burn is almost 100% thighs right above the knee and glutes.
Just tried it out. Make sure the pedals are under the middle of your feet and not the balls of your feet and squeeze with your butt at the top of the movement and don't press with the balls of your feet to be doubly sure. Hope that makes sense! You can get a calf contraction at the fully extended part of the squat but only if you have the balls of your feet on the pedals and you press with them. I never do my workouts on this machine that way, probably why Ive never felt the calfs burn, but I'm sure someone would chime in a say I'm wrong that why I wrote you such a detailed reply 😅 Hope that helps and good luck!!!

You have just asked the question of all questions: Which is more effective - HIIT or long duration cardio. And it depends on which study you read. Personally, I find going really fast pace short duration 50% of the workouts is most effective for building muscle. For weight loss I find steady long and slow more efficient. I think it depends on your fitness level and metabolism. My advice is to play around with the tempo in your workout to find which one produce the results you desire instead of adhering to what the science says. Hope that helps!
It really does ha ha! Man, that is an excellent idea thank you!! That would have been really good to do on this thing actually, by the end it wasn't feeling all that sturdy when I was really cranking on it! Thank you so much for the comment brother!
Hi Danielle! I feel it 75% in the thighs and 25% in the glutes. Gives a really good burn tho, surprisingly so. Hope that helps! Thank you for the comment
Personally I didn't notice any sensation in my calves at all. Mostly glutes and thighs, maybe a little bit on the lower back. Definitely taxes the lungs and cardiovascular system!!
It would be pretty easy to fit a thicker resistance band from any kit or even thick tie straps to the metal hooks for more resistance it's a pretty basic design. It comes with 3 but they aren't particularly thick/ strong. More resistance would definitely be nice.
Thank you so much for your comment and sub! Much appreciated!! The model number is: NO. 077. Triple checked it as it seems a little strange but it's what they're using on all the sites it's sold on. Here's the manufacturers site: sunnyhealthfitness.com/products/sunny-health-and-fitness-no-077-upright-row-n-ride-rowing-machine. That's the model I recommend. I also bought the PRO model to test out....it's twice the price and doesn't work as well. Review coming soon!
Noooo, I was about to buy the Pro! I don't know that I really have a choice because my bf wants to use it too & he's 15 lbs over the 077's weight limit. Is the Pro horrible?
It's not horrible, it's just that it doesn't give you as good of a workout. The one upside is the pro doest seem to wear out, some people have worn out the elastic bands on the 077. Mine are fine but I'm not doing super long sessions on it every day. I returned the PRO model recently, not even going to bother reviewing it. Take that for what it worth!
Fucking awesome, just pulled the trigger for my wife and I. I have a lot of military injuries and this looks like it's low impact. Almost got the PRO version then I saw your other review. I agree, at least by looking at them for me it looked like the range of motion on the cheapo was better. Plus the leaking oil on the PRO, negative on that.
I think this machine will be great for you both. Sucks to have the old injuries but we have to find intense ways to keep moving or they get worse and machines like this make it possible. I was shocked this thing actually worked. I hope it works as well for you both too. Thank you for taking the time to comment!

I feel glute activation, but only if I squeeze me cheeks at the top of the movement. So if you do that, it will help with glutes but I would (and do) supplement with clam shells and weighted hip thrusts to keep my cheeks full and juicy. Hope that helps!
It could be...but if you're looking to do long cardio sessions there are better options. If I were to lose weight with this machine I would use caloric restriction and HIIT. Hope that helps!

Can you do longer 30 minutes+ aerobic workouts with the machine like rowing with 130-150 heart rate? Can you do short intervals at max heart rate above 160?
Great question! I can't imagine thrusting on this thing for 30+ plus minutes...but you could if you wanted to. It's better for short intervals at max heart rate. I can get mine to 180 no problem on it.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Thank you so much. I am trying to strengthen my heart more than anything so having a machine capable of both steady state and HIIT is what I need. I would mostly be doing threshold training (max effort you can sustain longer periods) but it needs to be hard enough that HIIT is possible. How comfortable are the grips and seat if you use it for longer sessions? Does it make much noise like could you hear it in the next room at all or through apartment walls?
Hardly makes any noise at all would be good for an apartment. I haven't used this machine for long sessions, it's comfortable for short interval training tho. The handle grips could be thicker I feel like I'm going to break the thing but so far it's held up for a few years.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer How are you able to get to 180? I could barely get above 140 all out with all 3 bands and I get winded pretty easy from running. I don't take any heart medications that could lower it. Do you have any suggestions for how to get it even above 160?
Crazy! How much do you weigh? I could hit 180 no problem and I do assault bike, hill sprints and a lot of other HIIT stuff like boxing etc. Maybe it's harder for me because I'm 225lbs? You might need a weighted vest!

Mine is been storage for a while, i started yesterday and then i saw your video, im inspired!!!
Awesome! I gotta get back on mine too, it's that time of year again!! Thank you for your comment 😀
Thanks for sharing this! I am thinking of getting one, I got Sunny's mini stepper and it works very well!
Have always wanted to try that stepper! Good to hear it works well too, going to have to track one down thank you!
Yes this little machine is great also!
This actually makes me want to try this thing. My first gut instinct reaction was what a peice of crap too
It works well! I was shocked too.
It gets good at 4:40
glad you liked that part thanks for watching!
🤣🤣🤣
This was hysterical!
Thank you for your comment Laura ☺️ had a lot of fun filming the montage
Omggggg it was😂😂😂😂

I LOVE THIS BROTHER AND HIS VIDEO REVIEW❣❣❣😎
Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏 they are much appreciated!! Have a great weekend 😊

I use it and it gets me where I have to go.
The COVID commuter. Thrust your way to greatness
Bought one after watching this. Love it. Thanks!
Still can’t believe this thing works as well as it does. Happy to hear you love it too! Thank you for your comment!!
Right? It's surprising, that little machine! For the price, I took the risk and I'm glad I did. It's fun and definitely works your cardio.
100%. This is the only little machine I've ever bought and said: 'WOW.' this thing actually over delivers. Super underrated piece of equipment!!
Spot on review that will save time, effort and money for a simplistic but beneficial fitness machine !!!
Thank you!! Agree with you completely
Thank you for this! My first time watching, straight to the point with what I wanted to know. Subscribed!
Thank you for the sub Kiesha! Really appreciate it!! Happy assisted squatting
Started yesterday with one band and you definitely feel it in no time. Wondering if yourself or anyone has noticed any ab burn whatsoever after using it. Thanks
Nice! Keep going! I don't notice it in the abs much but I do a daily situp routine so that might be why.
Thank you for the review, and the highly entertaining montage 😂
Thank you for taking the time to comment 🤗
Why is it that you're able to start using the machine from a seated position, but then I see on Amazon people talking about how they need to start riding it from a standing position and have to 'jump' on it almost like a pogo stick?
Great observation! I'd used it for a long time and built up the necessary strength in my thighs. The seated position is the hardest position, think of it exactly like a deep squat, maybe harder because of the bands.
Nature, hot guy and workout plus good video, nice music, and a police car waiting in case of fire due to hotness 🔥
Cest superbe
Merci beaucoup
Your comment made my day. Thank you 😊
I dont get quad burn after 15 minutes never mind less than a minute having said that its good for womens types of bodies.I would say after 10 minutes I do get my heart in the aerobic zone which is good and my legs feel tired after 15 minutes and my arms feel it the next day im pleased I got it but you can't compare this to a spin bike workout for example, but still its very good just not for making any muscles burn in my experience but worth the money all the same.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer
Yep seriously 🙂.
Yes luckily it was a quiet day on the highway 😅😅
How is it for size? I’m not super tall but at 6’2” sometimes these things don’t fit for use. Loving your videos, appreciate your honesty and the montage here is killer lol.
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun to film ha ha. This thing is surprisingly adjustable, at 6ft 220lbs I found it accommodated my frame very well and had a notch or two left to go so it would probably even work well for someone as tall as you. This is the best price of winter workout equipment I've ever owned. Hope it works as well for you too if you get one!
It really does work. I've finally gotten my wide ass in a dress i bought 6 years ago, but couldn't fit.
Awesome!! Happy to hear it works for you too. It definitely changed the shape of my butt as well as a nice little side benefit that I hadn't even expected! Thank you for your comment!!
It's hilariously effective! Good to know.
Ba ha ha so true man. Thank you for the comment it is much appreciated! Have a good one
Amazing review . Have you tried the sunny health basic rower ? Curious how they compare .
Thank you Rachel! Honestly i haven't tried the basic rower so unfortunately I can't give an opinion on how they compare. Maybe it's time to order one! -Jamie
The helmet is absolutely killing me 😂
Safety first 😉
That looks like a great workout! Must have been a workout hauling up those hills lol.
It's actually pretty good!! Yes, it was a little awkward and not easy ha ha. Thank you for the comment!
It is heavy af but it folds up lol
Can this machine work out my arms and belly fat is it worth buying?
It doesn't really work out your arms but you will lose belly fat if you use it in conjunction with some kind of caloric restriction diet. It will definitely put muscle on your legs and butt and increase your aerobic capacity!
this actually makes me want to buy that thing. i wouldn't use it to try to get in shape or anything ha ha
I think we have discovered a secondary use/market for this product (assholery). Thank you for the comment!
I want to ask just had TKR and want to know if this will strengthen my knee?
Hi Susan, I think it could strengthen the muscles around your knee while being very low impact. I've dealt with knee issues in the past and I find this to be very comfortable, as well as inline skating. Hope that helps!
Best.Review.Ever. Just got the effin thing put together. You sure feel it.
Thank you Thomas! Appreciate your comment!!
Glad I'm not the only one who feels the burn from this thing. It's pretty intense!!
Your are most welcome.
😂😂😂😂😂 love ur review. I just bought it
Thank you! Enjoy the burn!!!
Thank you for sharing this video, I appreciate it!!!
Happy you found it helpful! Thank you for your comment 😊
I have this same machine and it is no joke! I love it well worth the investment my opinion anyways cheers!
Agree!!!! Thank you for your comment 🙏🙌
Just got mine! Yay!!!
That's awesome! Congrats!!
Brooooo this is the most amazing video review I had watched in a while...... You are super cool bro and honest as fuck... Liked and subscribed
Thank you so much for the sub my brother! Much appreciated 🙏 glad you enjoyed, hoping to start making more like this just have to stop being such a slacker! Have a good one dude
Question, do you feel this machine is that much better than doing leg squats yourself maybe holding on to something if you need assistance?
What an excellent thought provoking question! I think it is better for people who have knee or hip issues. I do both (use this machine and do bodyweight squats) but I find I get a different type of burn from this machine, it isolates the upper thighs without putting any stress on my knees and lets me preform reps faster and smoother. That being said I really feel like there is no replacement for deep, slow and controlled bodyweight squats. I hope that answers your question! It's not really yes or no, I find both movements really compliment each other. Thank you for the great question!
So I have GIANT calves, and I'm looking for a cardio workout that does NOT work out my calves (or minimally does). Do you think this would be ok?
Great question, I think you are safe with this machine, I have felt zero burn in my calves ever using it. The burn is almost 100% thighs right above the knee and glutes.
Just tried it out. Make sure the pedals are under the middle of your feet and not the balls of your feet and squeeze with your butt at the top of the movement and don't press with the balls of your feet to be doubly sure. Hope that makes sense!
You can get a calf contraction at the fully extended part of the squat but only if you have the balls of your feet on the pedals and you press with them. I never do my workouts on this machine that way, probably why Ive never felt the calfs burn, but I'm sure someone would chime in a say I'm wrong that why I wrote you such a detailed reply 😅
Hope that helps and good luck!!!

Get ready to have quads and buns of steel!!
Thank you for your comment! Hope you love it too 😀
lol this was really good. Thumbs up from a fellow creator 😅
Thank you for watching the video and for your comment Ethan! Much appreciated man. Anyone reading this that wants to build their channel should click on you and check out your videos, your tips have helped me so much! Thanks again and have a good one!
So do you think going faster is more effective rather than steady slow pace??
You have just asked the question of all questions: Which is more effective - HIIT or long duration cardio. And it depends on which study you read. Personally, I find going really fast pace short duration 50% of the workouts is most effective for building muscle. For weight loss I find steady long and slow more efficient. I think it depends on your fitness level and metabolism. My advice is to play around with the tempo in your workout to find which one produce the results you desire instead of adhering to what the science says. Hope that helps!
It looks so stupid hahahaha so funny good to know it works though. You could extend your videos by reviewing the build construction!
It really does ha ha! Man, that is an excellent idea thank you!! That would have been really good to do on this thing actually, by the end it wasn't feeling all that sturdy when I was really cranking on it! Thank you so much for the comment brother!
Looks similar to the Health Rider from back in the day. I had a couple of models and thought they were a decent workout.
Never heard of the health rider but it has a cool name!
Thank you for commenting!!
great video,, just bought one , awaiting the shipping. Do you also get an ab workout with this? thanks
Nice! Great purchase. Didn't notice any stress on my abs
Does it work your glutes? Which muscles do you feel it working?
Hi Danielle! I feel it 75% in the thighs and 25% in the glutes. Gives a really good burn tho, surprisingly so. Hope that helps! Thank you for the comment
How does it feel on the calves?
Personally I didn't notice any sensation in my calves at all. Mostly glutes and thighs, maybe a little bit on the lower back. Definitely taxes the lungs and cardiovascular system!!
Loved your montage
Thank you 😊 it was a lot of fun to film. A lot of pent-up energy from being stuck in the house all lockdown 😉
Thanks so much
You're welcome! Thank you for your comment!
Can you switch out band to add higher resistance?
It would be pretty easy to fit a thicker resistance band from any kit or even thick tie straps to the metal hooks for more resistance it's a pretty basic design. It comes with 3 but they aren't particularly thick/ strong. More resistance would definitely be nice.
Can you please provide a model number? Subscribed for your genuine reviews 👍🏼from Australia.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Fantastic, I'll give it a go. Thanks.
@@5thgearouttahere Sweet! Please let me know your thoughts on it! Have a good one
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Titanium implants and stemcells got me going again, but need to get out of atrophy now. Thanks for the great reviews!
@@ncscientist Jesus! Must have been a wild ride man. Awesome to hear you found a way to get going again and I have no doubt someone like you will power through the pain of atrophy. I’ve taken some hard lumps ice climbing and had to bounce back from inactivity due to a surgery as well, what’s on the other side of that wall is more than worth it and I wish you all best and hope you come back stronger than before brother. Thank you for the kind words about the reviews, means a lot!
Will it really break of you are over 300 lbs cause I’m 310 and it looks fun that I might enjoy it
Based on what I have heard from others and how hard I am on mine I can say with reasonable confidence that it will not break if you are over 300. I say give it a go! If you do break it, that’s an awesome story and accomplishment and hopefully you could return it ha ha! Enjoy!!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Thank you! I found one for $50 on Facebook market place imma get it if it's available tomorrow 😁
Does it help with glutes ?
I feel glute activation, but only if I squeeze me cheeks at the top of the movement. So if you do that, it will help with glutes but I would (and do) supplement with clam shells and weighted hip thrusts to keep my cheeks full and juicy. Hope that helps!
Do you think this machine can be effective for weight loss also?
It could be...but if you're looking to do long cardio sessions there are better options. If I were to lose weight with this machine I would use caloric restriction and HIIT. Hope that helps!
I have nothing meaningful to say but I am here to help the algorithm
Bless you kind friend! Really appreciate the help!!! 🤜🤛
Good, no BS review
I’m looking at the pro version with the hydraulic reactance … pretty convinced I should get it
Thx
Thank you.
Please reconsider. I've had the PRO and the sunny full motion rower...both shocks leaked oil. Numerous comments from other with same experience. Apparently there is now a pro model with bands instead of shocks (can't recall the name). I'd look into that one instead of you don't want the regular version.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer thank you. I’ll take a look at the comments for sure and if you are able to locate a link to the pro with bands …. I’d be interested.

Thank YOU for taking the time to leave a comment 😊 glad you liked it!
Is there a weight & height limit? Thanks
There might be, I didn't see one. At 6ft 230lbs I feel like I'm pushing the limits of this machines strength and durability but so far it's lasting!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer
Thank you so much.
The ending is so funny 🤣😅😅
