Geociv is a multiplayer mod inspired by Age of Discovery. In it, city captures is basically disabled. You plant your core cities in the middle of the map, and then plant far away colonies to harvest treasure and other resources. You can also be a pirate, and steal treasure from the enemy.

Well.. in my experience... you can freely plant a city next to a huts (any difficulty), and you will never get barbs, as long as you don't have any millitary units close to it

The way distance corruption works, would a compact real life Spain-like empire with a central capital and a ring around as a core be more shield productive than a coastal empire like real life Chile/Vietnam/Carthage?
You've probably answered this before, but why do you use Road-To instead of just normal Build Road? Don't you end up with a wasted worker move after the road is completed (the worker roading at 41:29 for example)?
The road gets completed one turn early. It gets finished at the end of the last turn it takes, instead of at the start of the next. You cannot move the worker after, so you cannot save worker moves, but the road itself is usable earlier for money and mobility.
The road finishes halfway through the turn instead of at the end. I show that off in my second city early in the game,
And in stacks, workers won't waste moves.
And that's not a wasted worker move, because the worker will walk along the road, and still have 2/3 of a move left
