Removing Cast Iron Pipes

I have to demo all the old plumbing in my building. This is a part of my home remodel lots of thing still left to do.

Yeah only issue with a sledge is pieces cracking and falling into the pipe and collecting below the concrete causing one heck of a problem after

Ohh good point. I Failed to mention that risk. For me it was disconnected first and capped the end going to the town.

Please use hearing protection and also a face mask or at least safety glasses. The shards off cast iron can fly off like shrapnel. Stay safe :-)

I am dealing with the same cast iron vent pipe. My has already 3” pvc in it. I just want to take the whole cast iron off all the way up to the roof.
The question is, is it secure to remove without damaging the roof? Please advise.
