Dear Mr. Plumber. I have to say that you encounter some very interesting plumbing configurations. I've watched several of your videos and you go right after the issues. My philosophy regarding plumbers. Treat them with respect, pay them what they ask for and deserve and let them share some of their unique wisdom along the way. Thanks for sharing!
Now that is a professional plumber! He reminds me of me!! I love to do this work as much as he does! Commercial plumbing is awesome too! For anyone who might be interested in this trade, it's awesome! Dive into it and learn, you'll always have work. But be an honest plumber. Treat your clients with respect and save them money by doing the job right at a very reasonable price! They'll always call you back, and recommend you to their family and friends. But do the job right! Don't half ass anything, or just band-aid leaks. Sometimes you gotta go an extra step and spend another hour or two. But do the job right, you'll feel real good about yourself too. It's a win win. Be fair, be honest, you'll never run out of work.
Lav I noticed you use a face shield when cutting which is a very good example for newbie's and also when you take a call you keep right on working , when most guy's would walk outside , circle their truck several times and still charge the customer , your a straight up guy , which makes you video's authentic ... we so appreciate your time and effort making these videos ... bless you my good man ...
Hey you loss a lot of weight keep up the good work , Im a plumbing in PA and I lost 16 lbs so getting under sink and setting tubs dont hurt my back any more. I would just like to say that you are the only plumbing out there putting your work on the line. Great Job
Amazing how a skilled tradesman can do complicated stuff very well while making jokes and answering the phone and chatting with customers. Doing just this one job would take me all day with about four trips to the hardware store.
Man, you're hilarious when you're talking to yourself, love the accent. Just another day on the job. love learning from you Steve, keep up the good work.
its a 4 " riser and it needs replacing also just didn't have time today to tackle the job .she might get a bit longer before it lets loose.I usually like to wait for it to start leaking badly before replacing the pipe. I did tell her about it and showed it to her .in the end she has to pay me for the work so it's her call
Looks great Steve. It's going to be fun to replace that main stack. That 4" cast is HEAVY! I Had to replace a house trap once and bust up a bunch of concrete to do it. It wasn't fun at all!
Best to wear a mask so your not breathing that crap that flying all over the place. Otherwise Great plumber. Also ambidextrous, so gets job done quickly. Why never any cleanup chores. Love the guard dog.
I had a lead closet bend/toilet drain. Plumber replaced with PVC but bathroom is over a dining room and I do not want to hear water. The vertical portion of the drain coming down the dining room wall is all cast iron. Should I just spray foam it? or insulate against sound? or replace the PVC with cast iron?
Be careful, my OSHA 30 class last year showed pictures of a guy with the grinder blade sticking out of his cheek, because the shields aren't impact rated and it blew right through. Make sure you protect your eyes.
Love the luxury of space ! We usually do the same in crawl spaces with 16" of vertical space, full are is full mouse droppings, dead raccoons, and occasional possums or snake. Oh, did I mention we love what we do ? :) Good job, good video !
Like your videos, brings back my days of plumbing service calls. Was just wondering why when going from cast to plastic you don’t use no hub plastic adaptors?
those things can be a nightmare to put in and you have to dig out lead out of a fitting pull it apart and clean it all up on a rusty old pipe it is a lot easier to cut the pipe and clamp it
I remember all too well that other repair you did. I don't like that brand of water heaters, I had one that burst with no warning, and another neighbor found a nice stream coming from their's a few days later. I warned them not to wait, as what happened to mine. I highly recommend to steer clear of that brand, and check my water heater at least once per month after my last one.
There's nothing wrong with AO Smith. They make good heaters, and do so for many other brands under their private label program. If water heaters are bursting or leaking after years of service it's because people aren't maintaining them. Relief valves have to be checked, anodes have to replaced, and they should periodically be drained and flushed to clean out the sediment. No brand lasts if you don't do those basic things.
True fact. When I was 15 yo I was cutting wood with wood cutter disk, and I used no guard to see where to cut. The high rpms pulled in a loose thread from my gloves and you can guess what happened next. I was in hospital for 3 days and two of my fingers were 50% sliced off and other two 30% sliced off. I waked with stitches for 3 months, I can't bend my middle finger into a fist no more, it hangs half way there. But I am able to use it. Angle grinder is some dangerous shit man, use the guard if possible.
Yes! You NEED the guard, side handle and protective gloves, as well as a face shield when using that type of disc. Diamond cutting discs for metal are saffer, I always use those.
Quite a bit of lead pipe you salvaged there. Nice work. I replaced some of my cast and will probably be chopping more of it out. Anyways, once I knocked the cholesterol out, the tub sounded like a jet engine when I drained it. The water shoots right through where the 94 years of cholesterol was removed. Nasty,
depends on the situation if it's in a spot where it can do damage, or in an unfinished cellar.and depends on the owner's finance, nothing is carved in stone
My Kenmore High Efficiency gas hot water heater from 1991 still runs like a champ- no leaks or anything. Just a routine descaling every 2 years with the drain hooked up to a hose outside.
I talked to 2 plumbers who shot down the job that I'm going to have to do myself, and they both signed off with 'good luck'. Do all plumbers hang up that way?
In my basement, they hooked copper drain pipe to the cast iron stack and the fitting they used appears to be black plastic. What type of fitting is that? Did they use glue?
Wow, that's really good for a truck that size and weight. Would have thought it to be every few days. Definitely got your moneys worth out of it for sure.
Never seen lead drains before, that is really old. Two of our neighbors had lead water service. My dad took the plumbing test in the early 60's and he said they had a section on lead wipe joints, but they had just crossed it out like a few months before.
Great work Steve! Thank you for posting these videos. I've learned a lot and I always look forward to them. You're quite hilarious! You always have me laughing!
Likely problem with that original pipe is it wasn't placed on an angle so it always had standing water in it. Amazing it took that long to rust through! The one going straight up and down also likely always had water running down that side it's rusting non stop from the pipe where the water was always standing.
Darn. I need you at my house to fix a broken cast iron pipe that I want to covert to pvc… This isn’t going to be as easy as you make it look. Haha Love this video though!
i have to agree with you - after seeing the inside of that particular pipe after you cut it down I really don't know why anyone would EVER even think to wear gloves. Right there in that pipe is probably the finest thing for not only the skin on your hands but your face better yet. They say baby shit is good to use to give facials, well this has to be 10 times better. LMAO!
As far as property damage/water, within cast iron horizontal lines especially, any sewer, kitchen, or bathroom lavatory line, that you feel may be holding moderate amount within water. Don't loosen existing no-hub bands, or remove any fittings. Minimum within 2-dependable buckets, drill 1-2 holes within bottom of drain line, drain the water within controlled thought, post drained then proceed to remove the no-hub bands, process within replacement as well. Cast is very heavy alone, with holding water 4× the weight, person injury, also property damage enivtable.

Very well said Sir! Thank you for your part in the trade as well!
YES
Eddy well said and quite true I concur.
Hey you loss a lot of weight keep up the good work , Im a plumbing in PA and I lost 16 lbs so getting under sink and setting tubs dont hurt my back any more. I would just like to say that you are the only plumbing out there putting your work on the line. Great Job
This is my first post on UA-cam, great job and learned a lot! Thank you sir! Love the dog!
Amazing how a skilled tradesman can do complicated stuff very well while making jokes and answering the phone and chatting with customers. Doing just this one job would take me all day with about four trips to the hardware store.
you and me both - I'm agonizing over replacing a plumbing fixture that Steve would knock out in his sleep!
Man, you're hilarious when you're talking to yourself, love the accent. Just another day on the job. love learning from you Steve, keep up the good work.
Thank you for teaching me... I learned so much from you. You are a very good trainer.
I love the grinder......remember the snap cutter back in the day. nice work stevie......
Nice plumbing job, won't be long for that 3" into floor will break loose. Awesome job, really clean install. Steve Lav,
its a 4 " riser and it needs replacing also just didn't have time today to tackle the job .she might get a bit longer before it lets loose.I usually like to wait for it to start leaking badly before replacing the pipe. Great video. Thank you. You give.
me the confidence to do it myself. I’ve done sinks and such but now need to do the Maine line under the house.
I could watch this guy all day long....Great job!
Best to wear a mask so your not breathing that crap that flying all over the place. Otherwise Great plumber. Also ambidextrous, so gets job done quickly. Why never any cleanup chores. Love the guard dog.
Another great job by Steve and Molly continue to do well also stay safe had enough of this neighborhood 👍😷💯
Love watching your work steve, straight forward no bullshit
good job Steve,as always.Steve is working agains.MAMA!!!!!!!!!thanks as alwayfor the tapes, keep them comeing.###
I love that we get bonus coverage of him taking his business phone calls. Lol!
Agreed 👍
One better than the knowledge you give us is the supervisor that stays in the truck and guards the inventory!
Nice should you name the video cast iron replace with pvc great video thanks Steve
Love watching Steve’s videos. Did I see you leave the burrs in the pvc pipe? 😂
You make allways good videos ,thanks!!!
I had a lead closet bend/toilet drain. Plumber replaced with PVC but bathroom is over a dining room and I do not want to hear water. That's why I just use my sawzall with a cast iron blade.
Great job Steve loved the repair.
what type of blade or cutting wheel did you use to cut the cast iron pipe
Love the luxury of space ! We usually do the same in crawl spaces with 16" of vertical space, full are is full mouse droppings, dead raccoons, and occasional possums or snake. Oh, did I mention we love what we do ? :) Good job, good video !
I wish I could find the person who questioned you wearing gloves. I do love you saying it constantly. Hilarious.
Wow, I did pretty much the same thing last weekend except it took 8 hours and 4 trips to Home Depot!
So you don’t smooth the cut ends on pvc before applying glue?
Nice work Steve, thank you for the videos.
Thank U Steve and doggie👍🏽♥️
Nice tidy brill job there mama !! More scrap for your new scrap trailer .
Steve what's the torque on the jed clampetts. Is there a difference on the plastic side vs. the cast iron. I can't do it by feel as you can.
What cutting wheel did you use on that angle grinder? It cut that cast iron like butter!
Like your videos, brings back my days of plumbing service calls. Was just wondering why when going from cast to plastic you don’t use no hub plastic adaptors?
those things can be a nightmare to put in and you have to dig out lead out of a fitting pull it apart and clean it all up on a rusty old pipe it is a lot easier to cut the pipe and clamp it
Steven you should have 45’d the tub trap up higher. Although your a good plumber and I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for posting them.
Nice work as always Steve! You crack me up..... no Taj mahal lol
M Croley That remark can insult a home owner I think.
its interesting you can use cast iron connect to pvc there. I dont think they allow that here in california. Question, is the OD same for PVC and ABS?
I remember all too well that other repair you did. It was 15 years old and still worked. Lol.
anticapitalize
Greet work
We hat the name for the glue you used and it s good with inspection?
How much charge for kind of this job?
Great job! But please put a guard on that cutting wheel, if it disintegrates, say goodbye to whatever hand/finger is in line with it.
RiceFlavoredGum Can you explain why it is safer?
Mike NL the cutting disc on a diamond blade won’t shatter and fly into your face or body
Mr.DahliaKing. I knew a guy who was a butcher in high school. He lost his pinky on a bandsaw at 18.
Nasty,
I like the cleaner nice work Steve.
Nice work Steve!!
Clean them burs! Great video sir.
Did you ever go back and replace the vertical waste pipe?
Steven what angle grinder do you use?
Nice job Steve. Do you recommend being proactive and changing out cast iron before there's a problem or wait for it to fail?
depends on the situation if it's in a spot where it can do damage, or in an unfinished cellar.and depends on the owner's finance, nothing is carved in stone
Damn great channel. I hope UA-cam is paying you good royalties!
Great work Steve.
This dude's awesome! Hey, what kinda saw was that, or was that a grinder with a saw blade on it?
9:10 So you just butt the same diameter PVC against the cast iron, and the short rubber sleeve and clamp will keep it from leaking?
My Kenmore High Efficiency gas hot water heater from 1991 still runs like a champ- no leaks or anything. Just a routine descaling every 2 years with the drain hooked up to a hose outside.
So you want a medal?
{$} - here's a medal, guy. Your water heater earned it.
Nice job Steve.
Steve by any chance did she have a steam or a water boiler?
I talked to 2 plumbers who shot down the job that I'm going to have to do myself, and they both signed off with 'good luck'. Do all plumbers hang up that way?
You should've cleaned the burrs off the inside of the pipe so it wouldn't cause restrictions for future drainage
I am surprised he left all the burrs/shards from cutting inside the pvc and glued it up like that.
In my basement, they hooked copper drain pipe to the cast iron stack and the fitting they used appears to be black plastic. What type of fitting is that? Did they use glue?
Probably abs plastic if it is black and yes its should be glued
Im plomer in progreso yucatan mexico , i like your videos,
Good job Steve.
Great instructions on your video ,thanks
9:47 LOL did you just drop your earpiece into the bucket of water? XD
right;
I'm not sure,but don't call me LOL.
Isn’t there a chance of fire considering the sparks and methane gas?
Steve, kinda off topic question. How often do you gas up your truck?
when its about 1/2 full every few weeks .its gets 13 mpg not bad for a truck that weights 14,000 lbs
Wow, that's really good for a truck that size and weight. Would have thought it to be every few days. Definitely got your moneys worth out of it for sure.
Never seen lead drains before, that is really old. Two of our neighbors had lead water service. My dad took the plumbing test in the early 60's and he said they had a section on lead wipe joints, but they had just crossed it out like a few months before.
steven lavimoniere Curious, what kind of truck are you driving? Box, transit, or something else?
Real leaker mama. Never thought of using a cut-off wheel on cast pipe. I always use a sawzall, great idea
Great work Steve! Thank you for posting these videos. I've learned a lot and I always look forward to them. You're quite hilarious! You always have me laughing!
At 9:42 drops phone into bucket but plays it off 😆
Great video I learn a lot from you.
hahahaha that hilarious how you noticed that all you hear is the sound of water splashing blue tooth goes right in haha
I thought he did lol KerPlunk!
I like your assistant!
Great job Steve.
Advice.... ream inside pvc after using sawzall due to burrs catching hair possibly causing clog. But very good job nonetheless
I was watching the burrs closely. I think he cleaned them out while he was off camera. But he should have mentioned it, I agree.
Good Job Steve
thank you
Nice tidy job. I can tell you have experience with the cut off wheel.
He's a surgeon with that shit bro trust me I'm a union apprentice and he best I seen with a grinder ever
Fantastic job. Thanks
Likely problem with that original pipe is it wasn't placed on an angle so it always had standing water in it. Amazing it took that long to rust through! The one going straight up and down also likely always had water running down that side it's rusting non stop from the pipe where the water was always standing.
Good afternoon. What’s the brand of the light you use and what size angle grinder?
Great Job Steven !!
Old house but she keeps it spotless.
Sir I would like to encourage you to make more chicken videos I and all your subscribers enjoy them very much
Enrique Ramirez What for this is not a game channel? The only chicken's I what to see are on my plate.
Adorable doggy. Great video.
If it were me, I'd have a guard on that grinder!
Where did you get the cleaner and glue holder for the cans?
Most plumbing supply houses will have the Can Caddy's you won't find them in big box stores.
i wonder if you'll ever come back there to replace that rotted CI stack? probably would be a real interesting vid
Vytautas Poška Yes it would I hope he will show it.
can nayone tell me the nut driver brand? Where do I buy that
Ain’t easy being cheezy!! Nice work!
One of the cleaner bathrooms recently. Nice change.
Never seen those type of rubber couplings. What are they called?
Fernco couplings
Good job Steven. A lot of cholesterol in those pipes mama! LoL
Pete Ciallella I have this video on my phone to illiestrate to my patient's what occurs in there arteries it make a powerful statement.
@@edwardmartinez199 Lmao with your spelling I would hate to be one of your medical patients.
Good morning from Spain
hello
Darn. I need you at my house to fix a broken cast iron pipe that I want to covert to pvc… This isn’t going to be as easy as you make it look. Haha Love this video though!
I live at THE Taj Mahal . Can you help with a plumbing problem?
i have to agree with you - after seeing the inside of that particular pipe after you cut it down I really don't know why anyone would EVER even think to wear gloves. Right there in that pipe is probably the finest thing for not only the skin on your hands but your face better yet. Can you do a video on replacing the stack? I need to do this to my house soon and want all of your tips!
The Migraine Guy Yes that would make for a good video.
mimick what you are replacing...
Ive noted that I haven't seen you doing crawl space work. Do you stay away from that or is it we just dont have crawl spaces here in MA?
Wow 😮 I know you seen that pimple pin whole leak on that vertical stack Steve damn mama that was a whole repipe not the branch lines alone
Nice work.
Great job really nice
Nice work I like it..

I have anxiety now because you left that glue booger hanging from the end of wye.
s'not cool, man.
Didn’t wipe off one fitting, and mentioned old house like he was to good for the job. Not feeling this guy.
Why didn’t you put the clean out at the end of the run
