Thanks for the tour! I could spend most of the day there. Many many years ago, Nikon had a similar space displaying all their equipment in New York City. It was called Nikon House. I spent a lot of time there dreaming as a beginning gearhead teenager!
@@TheRealRichardWong As you might be aware, Germany’s patents were voided as part of its WWII reparations hence why Russia was able to copy Leica, Contax, Zeiss and other cameras and lenses (and even uplift the whole factory in the case of Contax) and the Japanese were also able to use the designs. Obviously the Japanese companies were much better at continuously innovating and evolving the technology.
@@TheRealRichardWong I’ve never been there but very interested in going. It’s has a service centre, showroom and gallery for Nikon users. I’ve read the showroom allows you to try Nikon cameras and lenses. The service centre doesn’t cleaning and repairs but by appointment based. If you have time you should check it out, maybe make a video? :) haha
I just remember I have visited their shop/showroom in Ginza few years ago, would that be similar to this one in Shinjuku? yes i'll see if i have a chance to visit it and maybe create a video about it!
That's so cool. We went to the old Nikon Museum back in February before they closed the old location. Sadly, I left my Nikon cameras at home and brought an action camera because there was rain in the forecast and I wanted to travel light. I hope to visit the new Nikon Museum the next time we visit Japan but that won't be until 2026.

Oh New York City! It's one of the place i REALLY want to visit, one day!
Thank you. Great video! Hi particularly liked catching a glimpse of what looked like the legendary 6mm (220°) f/2.8!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks so much for that intro and info. I'm off to Japan next year, i will definitely pay them a visit... 😊
@musiqueetmontagne I'm sure you will enjoy your visit to the Nikon museum next year!!
Looks like great fun! The prototypes reveal the huge influence of Contax technology on early Nikon cameras including the F.
yes definitely! The rangefinders were when Nikon still heavily inspired by western camera designs.

@@Democratiser I actually didn't know that! I was wondering about that thanks for the info!
Ooh I was wondering about this - thanks Richard!
Thank you Robert
Great video - I enjoyed very much
thanks for watching and the comment :)
저번주에 다녀왔는데, 또 가구 싶네요.
First! This looks coool 😲
It does! I can almost smell the paint as the building is so new!
The lens wall looks insane! Didn’t see any Red camera there did you 👀
@@KwasnikPictures haha no Red camera or any sign of it yet!
Great mini tour Richard, feels like this used to be Ajinomoto museum, looks so familiar! Have you been to the Nikon Plaza Tokyo in Shinjuku?
No i haven't! Is it worth visiting?

Hey Peter, waiting makes your next visit even more exciting!
Very good Richard! It looks like one can spend whole day there. Is it only Japanese allowed into the place?
Anyone is allowed and yes if you have time, you can easily spend whole day there there are hundreds of cameras and lenses + many other exhibits
Thank you!
thank you for watching!
what camera did your bring while visiting :D
haha, just the Insta360 GO3S and my iPhone. It's not really respectable if I bring a camera from a direct competitor to the Nikon museum
what is the address of this new location bro?

Thank you for watching
There was an old one I visited couple years ago.
yes the one at their old HQ near Shinagawa train station? That is very cool too :)
@@TheRealRichardWong Yep. I looked back at the photos I took in 2015 to compare to the new museum.
Can I bring my Nikon F2 with me?
Yes definitely!
Did they show any rangefinder used during WWII? Japan literally flew a Subaru and used Nikon optics to aim its munitions to sink USS Arizona.
Not that I can remember.
