I like how the red spots on Zoroark look like festering sores; which combined with its pale gray body make it look like a zombie. Zombies could be described as being in a limbo-like state between life and death, hence the Normal/Ghost type.
I personally think that an undead or near the death origins for a Pokémon would make the most sense for a normal/ghost, given their themes on life and death respectively. Hisuian zoroark doesn’t disappoint, the reborn thing leads me to believe that the zorua spirits inhabit their previous bodies to reanimate hence that they’re still normal types
Really sad to know that because of humans, innocent Zorua was driven away, died and became a ghost type. I just wanna care for it and tell it that everything will be ok
To be fair, it would be obnoxious as HELL! Look, I do feel soft for animals' feelings and even cuteness...but logic and the animal's actions overcome that. If a carnivore can shapeshift as livestock, than it needs to be gotten rid of, much worse shapeshift as you or a family member.

At least the bedsheet ghost would make more sense than a change in color. Nothing about these foxes is Normal! They should be pure Ghost, Ghost/Dark, Ghost/Fire, or Ghost/Fairy. Any of those would make better sense.
I thought Galarian Corsola's backstory was morbid, but Hisuian Zorua's backstory is just sad. What monsters would shun such an adorable Pokemon like Zorua? Great video as always BTW!

@@Lumberjack_king Indeed. Coral bleaching is a real problem. If anything, Game Freak is being subtle because it disconnects Galarian Corsola's condition to current climate change. (It's specifically noted to be an "ancient breed" implying that they were extinct as normal Corsola long ago.)
The Kitsune inspiration is a little too on the nose imo, I say they're also took inspiration on the Onryo, since Zorua and Zoroark basically died a painful death and revived as vengeful spirits, which is literally what an Onryo is. Also, Onryo display the wounds indicating the way they died, and the irregular red spots all over Zoroark's body look a lot like swollen wounds.

I always figured that the first normal/ghost type would be a dead animal since normal types tend to be regular animals and ghost types are usually related to the after life or dead things.
Or, a normal kind of Pokemon with something ghostly attached or connected to it, like, say, a dog-like creature with spirit tags stuck to it for some reason, or cursed by something else to have ghostly fire in its fur for all eternity...
My concept was a reincarnated being: a mortal creature that has experienced the afterlife and still carries elements of that. It was basically a Buddha statue with floating hands.
i remember seeing complaints about this pokemon on twitter. mostly about how it "doesn't look like a normal/ghost pokemon" lmao. yes, because every ghost type pokemon needs to be a shade of grey or purple.
I think they pull off the ghost look quite well. The way Zorua's hair looks like japanese spirit wisps, and Zoroarks hair floats around it gets the point across pretty clearly.

@@saphiriathebluedragonknight375 Some people have weird habits of thinking their own personal subjective standards for what something is or isn't, are how it "should" be all the time, apparently not realizing that fiction is all about _creativity_ and how you can't expect things to always be one certain way, since everyone has different ideas. You can, in some ways, create bad/unappealing fiction of some sort, but there's a difference between that, and something not working for _one person or a certain multitude of persons_ specifically.
It nails the ghost-type look, but the normal typing is less obvious. This video did an excellent job explaining why it’s normal type, but the people complaining on Twitter likely haven’t seen it, at least not yet anyway.
2:02 From my knowledge, the Kabuki's red stripes also indicate the personality. The more red stripes, the more intense they are. Little to no stripes indicates one is level headed or calm. We can see that the Zorua looks a lot more calm than Zoroark does.
Hm, so a manic Kabuki would be covered in about as much red as that one homunculus in Fate. Full body covered in command seals, honestly looks badass for a small vessel.
The type is really interesting here. I saw it as pur good light ghost, because it has only one weakness left: Dark type. So ironically his Unova counterpart can counter it.

The reference to "uncanny illusions" suggests it just creeped people out so much that they thought it was evil. Think about how much hysteria might happen if a mute child in town suddenly reverted to its true Zorua form, especially in this age where many humans view pokemon in general in a less favorable light.
@@Ryodraco Technically, to reach this form, being driven away would've had to have happened EVEN FURTHER in the past. Which again would make sense that humans had no connection to pokemon as they are even curiosity like in Hisui.
With the implied cruelty they were put through I'd say their resentment of others is pretty understandable. The ones dying and becoming ghosts are Zorua, which are just children. Zoroark are established as very protective parents, so they'd have to be either dead or separated from the Zorua for it to be left to fend for itself alone. They also may have been driven from a number of places before ending up dying in the cold. Maybe they're normal/ghost because they're possessing their own dead bodies.

Zorua and Zoroark are two of my absolute favorite pokemon so I'm happy they're getting some attention in the new game, though the backstory for this new form is extremely depressing.
Normal Ghost is a brilliant typing for Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark. It means that if you try and use a ghost move on it or a normal one, it will fail! Same goes for fighting. You think, ah! It's normal, let's use a fighting move! But it doesn't work. I think this pokemon therefore has only one weakness, that being dark. Correct me if I'm wrong!
Yep. That's why I and many others have been waiting for this type combination for years. Though, I would expect it to have come from a new legendary... But this definitely works!
Ghost/Fighting is usually considered the ultimate offensive combo since nothing resists it. Normal/Ghost is the only possible combo that can deal with it, let alone being immune to both ends. It's also just a straight upgrade of Ghost, giving it immunity to cancel Ghost's usual weakness to itself.
@@3eve0n 3 excellent immunities at that, as well as two reasonably useful resistances in Bug and Poison. Offensively as well you could do a lot worse, and with Zoroark being a glass cannon that's where most its utility will be.
I appreciate that when they do a new typing, they get creative with the concept to justify that typing. Also Normal/Ghost is a _really_ good typing having a whopping _three_ non-ability immunities, and only being weak to Dark, which ironically is Zoroark's original typing.
I just love the designs for all the new Hisuian regional variants. I always think "How are they going to top this?" and then they make another design that has me floored with how good it is ^.^

Y'know, now that I think about it... the Totem Pokemon being similar to the new big Pokemon in Legends Arceus... is basically the ancient traditions of the past still being used today.
I was skeptical that the Zoroark actually killed the professor in the video, but after reading about it's spiteful and baneful personality, yeah that dude is more than likely dead.

@@r4nd0mguy99 Absol, Darkrai, and Hydreigon are tragic lives. Umbreon, Alolan Rattata, Sandile, Krokorok, Liepard, and Sableye are nocturnal/prefer the dark. Alolan Meowth and Persian are stuck up snobs. Poochyena and Mightyena, Tyranatar, Mega Gyaradose, Crawdaunt, Krookodike, and Drapion are brutes. Guzzlord and Alolan Raticate are gluttonous. Nickit, Thievul, Murkrow, and Honchkrow are thieves. Sneasel, Weavile, Pawniard, Bisharp, Sharpedo, and Greninja are efficient hunters. There's only a very small handful of Dark types that are unfair/underhanded. The type was called Dark to encompasse a broad range of meanings, just like the original Japanese word.
@@timwoods2852 The normal typing is probably because it's possessing it's own body. You could also justify it as Zorua and Zoroark originally being normal types and the regular ones gaining the dark typing because of the same treatment the Hisuian ones got except they were the ones who survived through additional trickery.

I really enjoy the Gen 5 Pokemon love that's been going on in Legends: Arceus, they gave Basculin a very much needed evolution, they gave Braviary a psychic type varient so that it's no longer another normal/flying bird, Oshawatt is going to be one of the three starters, now Zorua and Zoroark are getting a very cool Normal/Ghost type, which in theory would make it immune to Normal, Fighting, and Ghost moves, which is kind of a big deal since the only type that can be super effective against it now is Dark type, though Dark can still be a big problem since almost everything can at least know Bite, but nonetheless it's really cool to see them use a weird type matchup to basically buff each type so that only one type can be super effective against it.
These are easily my favorite new designs we've seen from Legends Arceus. Zoroark has always come across as an edgy Lucario wannabe imo, but the Hisuian form knocks it out of the park in every aspect. also the way Lockstin pronounces Zorua is very distracting 😬
If what you are saying means you didn't enjoy normal Zoroark, I share that opinion, though not for that reason. I also love this completely as well too.
Regional forms usually just keeps the stats (with minor 10 BST redistribution) of its original counterpart. Meaning, Hisuan Zoroark will be busted once released. Sure, it has poor defense s, but you have a ton of opportunities to switch in on common moves.
I think it’s funny how nobody I’ve seen has acknowledged the fact that hisuian forms are going to be accessible in the “modern day” Pokémon games. Neat.

I am SO HAPPY! The Normal/Ghost typing is the single dual typing that I have always wanted to see. Not only do I FINALLY get the awesome type combo that I’ve been wanting for over a decade, but they gave it to a Pokémon that I already love. Zoroark is so cool and a lot of fun to use in battle. Now, I get to have a version of a Pokémon that I already love with my most favorite type combination ever. This version of Zorua and Zoroark are legitimately already in the running to become my favorite Pokémon. Not to mention that the game they are debuting in uses the region from my all time favorite Pokémon generation. Man, I cannot wait for these games to come out!
I definitely prefer the original Braviary. Every other new form/ evolution has been great though. Baculegion and Hisuian Zoroark are my personal favorites so far.
I honestly think that Braviary was kinda screwed over in that reveal trailer. It had to compete with the two really needed and cool evolutions and a regional form of an already widely loved and great Pokemon. I wish the OG Braviary was fighting type, but I guess Psychic is better than nothing

What I find craziest is that the normal ghost typing wasnt the last type a ghost has paired with. Youd think since itd likely be the most difficult, what with them being "opposites" and all, that they would do all others before it. But nope, rock is. Thought for sure runerigus would break that but nope. Just an odd finale, but im happy they hit a home run with the first ever ghost normal (though im still salty it wasnt a galarian banette where it was one that found peace and reverted back into a doll, like the dex says it can and does)
Rock/ghost would be pretty easy as well... as you said Runerigus, but also a mere possessed tombstone, or something like Bouldergeist from Mario Galaxy could work. I suppose it'll be a matter of time before its done since it's the last one and not particularly difficult.

@@RedTheWeeb Well idk about that but this is way I think that Zorokark is part Kunekune. Kunekune: It is a slender, white humanoid shape, like a paper mannequin or a piece of fine fabric. Its limbs are said to wiggle permanently, as if there was a straight gust of wind, even if it was a windless day. if an individual tries to look at it up close, they will go insane. In other versions, if someone touches it, or simply comes too close, the Kunekune will kill them. Even looking at it from a distance for too long is said to be unwise. Hisuian Zoroark: A slender white humanoid with fur on it's body that wiggles like limbs/fabric. And the illusions that Baneful Fox Pokémon project can driven people mad by see it the terror. Edit: And if someone gets to close to Zoura it'll attack them. {The Kunekune is also said to be an illusion cause by the heat.}
I find it kind of poetic that Zorua and Zoroark received Regional Variants in this Ancient Sinnoh region, since they were included near the end of Gen 4 and were the star Pokemon in the 4th Gen 4 movie.

I feel like Hisuian Zoroark is based more on the Korean version of the Kitsune called the Kimiho. Regular Kitsune are mostly tricksters and MAY cause trouble, but Kimiho are much more dangerous and there's nothing you can do to appease them. They hate humans and will ruin you and your day as soon as they find you. I noticed this connection at first when I joked to my friends that he looked like a K-Pop star version of Zoroark.
For a little bit of context, the Japanese word for a "demonic" kind of fox like the nine-tailed fox is specifically "Youko," which translates to "demon fox."
That spooky white and red/pink is lovely. It reminds me both of Krika from Bionicle and a bloodstained nurse uniform! I’m not even that big on the OG Zorua and Zoroark (more of an invertebrate fan myself), but these are sick and I gotta get me one of ‘em.
Only until after watching this video I noticed how ghastly Hisuian Zoroark is with the small amount of white wisp patterns marking her limbs and body, and the darn pattern around her eyes really sells the malice of a kitsune. Nice thing is that a good ol' Yokai Watchers episode on Tamamo no Mae gave me enough info to fill in the blanks... So, is form going learn smokescreen or a poisonous gas move?
Part of me thinks this Pokémon is normal to kind of add to the lore of its typing (not just referring to the body). Normal/Ghost type has 1 weakness is dark, which could be for a few reasons 1. Only on weakness further emphasizes Zoroark’s hatred toward ALL things (Pokémon and people). It allows for the Pokémon to seem more alone, yet also threatening to anything that would challenge it. If you think about it, not being affected AT ALL by normal, ghost, and fighting type Pokémon pushes this point further. Fists or spirit, you can’t break this things malice. WHICH LEADS TO 2. It’s only weakness being dark could pose two different philosophical standpoints: the only thing that is super effective on this Pokémon’s spirit is something much darker than it. Hate can eat up hate, and tears societies apart (easily why it can tear a Pokémon apart). The second philosophy I could see is that Zoroark USED to be a dark type. And because it was pushed from its home, and driven to malice, it’s only weakness being dark might represent how far it’s negative emotion has driven it from its living counterpart. Funny enough, the same darkness that drove it away from its original typing is the only thing that can tear it down. This is all just me speculating tho. Great video as always Lockstinn!
Even though I like the fact that we finally have a Normal/Ghost type Pokémon, I find it kinda weird that a big part of these two Pokémon is that they are spiteful and baneful, so much so that they came back from the dead out of spite, hating literally every living thing in the world, yet they are not Dark type. Of course, that'd be too similar to normal Zorua and Zoroark, but still, kinda bothers me.
I think they are going for an inbetween living and dead sort of thing. The fact that Zoroark's red fur resembles exposed flesh tells me they were going for a zombie like look. They're souls were brought back into physical form making them normal, but they were once dead, so ghost.
Gotta be excited for that awesome duo of moms of the best defensive typing normal and Ghost is while it has a good offensive typing would love to use it

Hisuian Zorua/roark: "can I copy your homework?" Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales: "yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied." Foxes, make them cuter, make their fur white/near white, and make them extra fluffy and flow-y, make them fairy/ghost/spirit/mystical.
Zoroark is basically unova's ninetails, they're both based on the kitsune, but ofcourse they inversed it, like how alolan ninetails is like a cold white while hisuian zorua is like a warm white.
i like to think that the reason hisuian zorua/zoroark don't exist anymore is because they all lost their rage and moved on to the afterlife in peace,leaving just the living versions.
How strange that the Hisuian form is only weak to dark type, while the "current" form is itself dark type. Maybe they evolved into edginess to out-edge each other?
From the sound of it at this time the Zorua and Zoroark we know do still exist. These are the ones driven from their homes into lands they couldn’t survive in and became Ghosts.
I really loved that Zorua/Zoroark made the Normal/Ghost type. I always wanted to this Poké be a version of Schrondiger's cat, becasue there isn't nothing more alive or dead like it. And besides Zorua line being a fox-based Poké, for me it has 4 legs and fits into Schrondiger. LOL
Im glad that they went ahead & made it this type instead of keeping the Dark-type from its original form even if Ghost/Dark is another gr8 typing with only 1 weakness as well.
I suppose to explain why Hisuian Zorua/Zoroark isn't seen in modern-day Sinnoh, people's fear and mistrust of the Unovan form died off over time, thus fewer and fewer of the vengeful spirit version came into being over time until they're borderline nonexistent by the events of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.
Japanese mythology be like “in the beginning there was nothing. And then there was rice. Rice created the universe as reality would not exist without it” lol I’m not saying this to be mean. My grandma is from Japan and she is the nicest and most kind person I have ever met in my entire life by a mile. I’m just saying that rice being a foundation for Japanese culture is the biggest understatement ever. Rice is that important and always have been. I just thought it would be a funny joke.
At first it seems strange that is a spiteful spirit has the red and white colors, the two colors that are prominent with the divine in Japan, but when you realize that red can refer to passion, family, and blood, while white is also a color of death and can refer to something that's cold and cruel, you get something that can literally mean: Passionately cruel Strong willed spite But also, *bloody death.*
I hope that the Shiny is black instead of white. Not only would it reference normal Zoroark, but also “Pokémon Black and White.” You know, the games that Zoroark was introduced?
Lockstin, Zoroark doesnt just transform into a pokemon, it can transform into humans. In one of the episodes of the 'black and white' anime, one Zoroark transformed into nurse Joy

2:43 True, rice has pretty much always been a core part of japanese culture since it plays major roles in Shinto. They also have different names for rice. The plant is called kome, rice cooked in a japanese style is called gohan (the same word as lunch,) and rice cooked in other styles is called raisu. Also, they refer to America as Bei, "the land of uncooked rice." America can also called Beikoku, depending on how it is used in a sentence. Bei and kome both can refer to uncooked rice.
I think that the normal-typing is supposed to indicate that Zorua and Zoroark are basically housepets who were abandoned by their "owners"; They were at one point adapted to living in human society. As their Dex entry states in Japanese and English; They expired because they could not endure the competition over food with pokémon, nor were they suited to the harsh environment of Hisui. Which makes you wonder why they went there or where they came from.
Fun Fact: Hisuian Zoroark can not just morph into Pokemon but into humans as well. In the post game of PLA with Mai and the massive mass outbreaks there is a request called “Tricky Treat Strategy” This has you give 10 mushroom cakes to “Mai” only to realize that, It was a Zoroark the whole time who was pretending to be Mai.

Don’t mess with Kitsune. On a visit to the Fushimi-Inari Shrine in Kyoto, I bought about 30 Kitsune Omamori (good luck charms) to send out to friends for Christmas. When I made my purchase, the miko warned me that “This many all together may attract unwanted foxes.” When I got home, strange things started happening; my dog started barking at things that weren’t there, items would go missing and end up in the weirdest places and other incidents. Finally, I had enough and mailed out all the Omamori a month early and all the strange incidents stopped.

Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are most coolest and demonic looking regional forms I ever seen! Not to mention their Normal/Ghost typing.

To be fair, it would be obnoxious as HELL! Look, I do feel soft for animals' feelings and even cuteness...but logic and the animal's actions overcome that. If a carnivore can shapeshift as livestock, than it needs to be gotten rid of, much worse shapeshift as you or a family member.

At least the bedsheet ghost would make more sense than a change in color. Nothing about these foxes is Normal! They should be pure Ghost, Ghost/Dark, Ghost/Fire, or Ghost/Fairy. Any of those would make better sense.

@@Lumberjack_king Indeed. Coral bleaching is a real problem. If anything, Game Freak is being subtle because it disconnects Galarian Corsola's condition to current climate change. (It's specifically noted to be an "ancient breed" implying that they were extinct as normal Corsola long ago.)

The Kitsune inspiration is a little too on the nose imo, I say they're also took inspiration on the Onryo, since Zorua and Zoroark basically died a painful death and revived as vengeful spirits, which is literally what an Onryo is.
Also, Onryo display the wounds indicating the way they died, and the irregular red spots all over Zoroark's body look a lot like swollen wounds.

I always figured that the first normal/ghost type would be a dead animal since normal types tend to be regular animals and ghost types are usually related to the after life or dead things.
Or, a normal kind of Pokemon with something ghostly attached or connected to it, like, say, a dog-like creature with spirit tags stuck to it for some reason, or cursed by something else to have ghostly fire in its fur for all eternity...
My concept was a reincarnated being: a mortal creature that has experienced the afterlife and still carries elements of that. It was basically a Buddha statue with floating hands.
Their wendigos. Aka possessed lost souls often assosted with cannibalism. So yeah it fits.
Undead or possessed, personally I'd go with a ghost caller.
i remember seeing complaints about this pokemon on twitter. mostly about how it "doesn't look like a normal/ghost pokemon" lmao. yes, because every ghost type pokemon needs to be a shade of grey or purple.
I think they pull off the ghost look quite well. The way Zorua's hair looks like japanese spirit wisps, and Zoroarks hair floats around it gets the point across pretty clearly.

@@saphiriathebluedragonknight375 Some people have weird habits of thinking their own personal subjective standards for what something is or isn't, are how it "should" be all the time, apparently not realizing that fiction is all about _creativity_ and how you can't expect things to always be one certain way, since everyone has different ideas.
You can, in some ways, create bad/unappealing fiction of some sort, but there's a difference between that, and something not working for _one person or a certain multitude of persons_ specifically.
It nails the ghost-type look, but the normal typing is less obvious. This video did an excellent job explaining why it’s normal type, but the people complaining on Twitter likely haven’t seen it, at least not yet anyway.
2:02 From my knowledge, the Kabuki's red stripes also indicate the personality. The more red stripes, the more intense they are. Little to no stripes indicates one is level headed or calm. We can see that the Zorua looks a lot more calm than Zoroark does.
Hm, so a manic Kabuki would be covered in about as much red as that one homunculus in Fate.

The reference to "uncanny illusions" suggests it just creeped people out so much that they thought it was evil. Think about how much hysteria might happen if a mute child in town suddenly reverted to its true Zorua form, especially in this age where many humans view pokemon in general in a less favorable light.

Which again would make sense that humans had no connection to pokemon as they are even curiosity like in Hisui.
With the implied cruelty they were put through I'd say their resentment of others is pretty understandable. The ones dying and becoming ghosts are Zorua, which are just children. Zoroark are established as very protective parents, so they'd have to be either dead or separated from the Zorua for it to be left to fend for itself alone. They also may have been driven from a number of places before ending up dying in the cold. Maybe they're normal/ghost because they're possessing their own dead bodies.

Zorua and Zoroark are two of my absolute favorite pokemon so I'm happy they're getting some attention in the new game, though the backstory for this new form is extremely depressing.
Normal Ghost is a brilliant typing for Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark. It means that if you try and use a ghost move on it or a normal one, it will fail! Same goes for fighting. You think, ah! It's normal, let's use a fighting move! But it doesn't work. I think this pokemon therefore has only one weakness, that being dark. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Yep. That's why I and many others have been waiting for this type combination for years. Though, I would expect it to have come from a new legendary... But this definitely works!
Ghost/Fighting is usually considered the ultimate offensive combo since nothing resists it. Normal/Ghost is the only possible combo that can deal with it, let alone being immune to both ends. It's also just a straight upgrade of Ghost, giving it immunity to cancel Ghost's usual weakness to itself.
yeah, 3 immunities and only 1 weakness. normal/ghost is a pretty busted typing.
@@3eve0n 3 excellent immunities at that, as well as two reasonably useful resistances in Bug and Poison. Offensively as well you could do a lot worse, and with Zoroark being a glass cannon that's where most its utility will be.

I appreciate that when they do a new typing, they get creative with the concept to justify that typing. Also Normal/Ghost is a _really_ good typing having a whopping _three_ non-ability immunities, and only being weak to Dark, which ironically is Zoroark's original typing.
I just love the designs for all the new Hisuian regional variants. I always think "How are they going to top this?" and then they make another design that has me floored with how good it is ^.^

Yea, I saw someone even theorized maybe the Totem Pokemon/Noble Pokémon are what inspired the creation of gyms in modern day.
I was skeptical that the Zoroark actually killed the professor in the video, but after reading about it's spiteful and baneful personality, yeah that dude is more than likely dead.

Alolan Meowth and Persian are stuck up snobs. Poochyena and Mightyena, Tyranatar, Mega Gyaradose, Crawdaunt, Krookodike, and Drapion are brutes. Guzzlord and Alolan Raticate are gluttonous. Nickit, Thievul, Murkrow, and Honchkrow are thieves. Sneasel, Weavile, Pawniard, Bisharp, Sharpedo, and Greninja are efficient hunters. There's only a very small handful of Dark types that are unfair/underhanded. The type was called Dark to encompasse a broad range of meanings, just like the original Japanese word.
@@timwoods2852 The normal typing is probably because it's possessing it's own body. You could also justify it as Zorua and Zoroark originally being normal types and the regular ones gaining the dark typing because of the same treatment the Hisuian ones got except they were the ones who survived through additional trickery.

I really enjoy the Gen 5 Pokemon love that's been going on in Legends: Arceus, they gave Basculin a very much needed evolution, they gave Braviary a psychic type varient so that it's no longer another normal/flying bird, Oshawatt is going to be one of the three starters, now Zorua and Zoroark are getting a very cool Normal/Ghost type, which in theory would make it immune to Normal, Fighting, and Ghost moves, which is kind of a big deal since the only type that can be super effective against it now is Dark type, though Dark can still be a big problem since almost everything can at least know Bite, but nonetheless it's really cool to see them use a weird type matchup to basically buff each type so that only one type can be super effective against it.

These are easily my favorite new designs we've seen from Legends Arceus. Zoroark has always come across as an edgy Lucario wannabe imo, but the Hisuian form knocks it out of the park in every aspect.

If what you are saying means you didn't enjoy normal Zoroark, I share that opinion, though not for that reason. I also love this completely as well too.
Regional forms usually just keeps the stats (with minor 10 BST redistribution) of its original counterpart.
Meaning, Hisuan Zoroark will be busted once released. Sure, it has poor defense s, but you have a ton of opportunities to switch in on common moves.
I think it’s funny how nobody I’ve seen has acknowledged the fact that hisuian forms are going to be accessible in the “modern day” Pokémon games. Neat.

I am SO HAPPY! The Normal/Ghost typing is the single dual typing that I have always wanted to see. Not only do I FINALLY get the awesome type combo that I’ve been wanting for over a decade, but they gave it to a Pokémon that I already love. Zoroark is so cool and a lot of fun to use in battle. Now, I get to have a version of a Pokémon that I already love with my most favorite type combination ever. This version of Zorua and Zoroark are legitimately already in the running to become my favorite Pokémon. Not to mention that the game they are debuting in uses the region from my all time favorite Pokémon generation. Man, I cannot wait for these games to come out!

I definitely prefer the original Braviary. Every other new form/ evolution has been great though. Baculegion and Hisuian Zoroark are my personal favorites so far.
I honestly think that Braviary was kinda screwed over in that reveal trailer. It had to compete with the two really needed and cool evolutions and a regional form of an already widely loved and great Pokemon. I wish the OG Braviary was fighting type, but I guess Psychic is better than nothing

Absolutely having Hisuian Zoroark and Arcanine on my team. They both seem great.
What I find craziest is that the normal ghost typing wasnt the last type a ghost has paired with. Youd think since itd likely be the most difficult, what with them being "opposites" and all, that they would do all others before it. But nope, rock is. Thought for sure runerigus would break that but nope. Just an odd finale, but im happy they hit a home run with the first ever ghost normal (though im still salty it wasnt a galarian banette where it was one that found peace and reverted back into a doll, like the dex says it can and does)

Rock/ghost would be pretty easy as well... as you said Runerigus, but also a mere possessed tombstone, or something like Bouldergeist from Mario Galaxy could work. I suppose it'll be a matter of time before its done since it's the last one and not particularly difficult.

Kunekune: It is a slender, white humanoid shape, like a paper mannequin or a piece of fine fabric.
Its limbs are said to wiggle permanently, as if there was a straight gust of wind, even if it was a windless day. if an individual tries to look at it up close, they will go insane. In other versions, if someone touches it, or simply comes too close, the Kunekune will kill them. Even looking at it from a distance for too long is said to be unwise.
Hisuian Zoroark: A slender white humanoid with fur on it's body that wiggles like limbs/fabric. And the illusions that Baneful Fox Pokémon project can driven people mad by see it the terror.
Edit: And if someone gets to close to Zoura it'll attack them.

I find it kind of poetic that Zorua and Zoroark received Regional Variants in this Ancient Sinnoh region, since they were included near the end of Gen 4 and were the star Pokemon in the 4th Gen 4 movie.
I'm just excited that we finally get our first Normal/Ghost types. Such a great type combo.

@@drxavier1870 it doesn't count as mainline I don't think. They've already said that they're keeping sword and shield as their primary competitive games and that Arceus won't have competitive multiplayer.
@@drxavier1870 I mean the fact that there isn't 2 versions of the game implies that there's no multi-player no multi-player makes abilities invalid for the most part the only way I can see it happening is with the gen 4 remakes/remaster or whatever it is.

I feel like Hisuian Zoroark is based more on the Korean version of the Kitsune called the Kimiho. Regular Kitsune are mostly tricksters and MAY cause trouble, but Kimiho are much more dangerous and there's nothing you can do to appease them. They hate humans and will ruin you and your day as soon as they find you. I noticed this connection at first when I joked to my friends that he looked like a K-Pop star version of Zoroark.
For a little bit of context, the Japanese word for a "demonic" kind of fox like the nine-tailed fox is specifically "Youko," which translates to "demon fox."

Only until after watching this video I noticed how ghastly Hisuian Zoroark is with the small amount of white wisp patterns marking her limbs and body, and the darn pattern around her eyes really sells the malice of a kitsune. Nice thing is that a good ol' Yokai Watchers episode on Tamamo no Mae gave me enough info to fill in the blanks... So, is form going learn smokescreen or a poisonous gas move?

Lockstin has single handedly pushed game freak to give their mons better lore, that's a good thing I love when there's a deeper story to these things
Part of me thinks this Pokémon is normal to kind of add to the lore of its typing (not just referring to the body).
Normal/Ghost type has 1 weakness is dark, which could be for a few reasons
1. Only on weakness further emphasizes Zoroark’s hatred toward ALL things (Pokémon and people). It allows for the Pokémon to seem more alone, yet also threatening to anything that would challenge it. If you think about it, not being affected AT ALL by normal, ghost, and fighting type Pokémon pushes this point further. Fists or spirit, you can’t break this things malice.
WHICH LEADS TO
2. It’s only weakness being dark could pose two different philosophical standpoints: the only thing that is super effective on this Pokémon’s spirit is something much darker than it. Hate can eat up hate, and tears societies apart (easily why it can tear a Pokémon apart).
The second philosophy I could see is that Zoroark USED to be a dark type. And because it was pushed from its home, and driven to malice, it’s only weakness being dark might represent how far it’s negative emotion has driven it from its living counterpart. Funny enough, the same darkness that drove it away from its original typing is the only thing that can tear it down.
This is all just me speculating tho. Great video as always Lockstinn!

Even though I like the fact that we finally have a Normal/Ghost type Pokémon, I find it kinda weird that a big part of these two Pokémon is that they are spiteful and baneful, so much so that they came back from the dead out of spite, hating literally every living thing in the world, yet they are not Dark type. Of course, that'd be too similar to normal Zorua and Zoroark, but still, kinda bothers me.

I think they are going for an inbetween living and dead sort of thing. The fact that Zoroark's red fur resembles exposed flesh tells me they were going for a zombie like look. They're souls were brought back into physical form making them normal, but they were once dead, so ghost.
Spitefulness and hatred is also a Ghost aspect though. Mimikyu, Banette, and Gourgeist are all pretty spiteful, plus Spite is a ghost move

Foxes, make them cuter, make their fur white/near white, and make them extra fluffy and flow-y, make them fairy/ghost/spirit/mystical.
Zoroark is basically unova's ninetails, they're both based on the kitsune, but ofcourse they inversed it, like how alolan ninetails is like a cold white while hisuian zorua is like a warm white.
i like to think that the reason hisuian zorua/zoroark don't exist anymore is because they all lost their rage and moved on to the afterlife in peace,leaving just the living versions.
How strange that the Hisuian form is only weak to dark type, while the "current" form is itself dark type. Maybe they evolved into edginess to out-edge each other?
From the sound of it at this time the Zorua and Zoroark we know do still exist. These are the ones driven from their homes into lands they couldn’t survive in and became Ghosts.
I really loved that Zorua/Zoroark made the Normal/Ghost type. I always wanted to this Poké be a version of Schrondiger's cat, becasue there isn't nothing more alive or dead like it. And besides Zorua line being a fox-based Poké, for me it has 4 legs and fits into Schrondiger. LOL

Will also depend on the stats. Zoarork is more Atk/SpAtk/Spd and not that deffensive
Yeah, the typing is good, but Zoroark has underwhelming hp and the defenses of a wet paper bag.

Im glad that they went ahead & made it this type instead of keeping the Dark-type from its original form even if Ghost/Dark is another gr8 typing with only 1 weakness as well.
I suppose to explain why Hisuian Zorua/Zoroark isn't seen in modern-day Sinnoh, people's fear and mistrust of the Unovan form died off over time, thus fewer and fewer of the vengeful spirit version came into being over time until they're borderline nonexistent by the events of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

I’m not saying this to be mean. My grandma is from Japan and she is the nicest and most kind person I have ever met in my entire life by a mile. I’m just saying that rice being a foundation for Japanese culture is the biggest understatement ever. Rice is that important and always have been. I just thought it would be a funny joke.

i just realised that Normal, Ghost, Fighting moves are useless against him, and that includes 2 of its not-so-many weeknesses

At first it seems strange that is a spiteful spirit has the red and white colors, the two colors that are prominent with the divine in Japan, but when you realize that red can refer to passion, family, and blood, while white is also a color of death and can refer to something that's cold and cruel, you get something that can literally mean:

Strong willed spite

Lockstin, Zoroark doesnt just transform into a pokemon, it can transform into humans. In one of the episodes of the 'black and white' anime, one Zoroark transformed into nurse Joy

Zorua and Zoroark have always been some of my favorite personal pokemon. and i absolutely love Kitsunes, so when this was revealed my heart melted and have found 2 new favorite pokemon. cant wait for smol whispy fox noises

The plant is called kome, rice cooked in a japanese style is called gohan (the same word as lunch,) and rice cooked in other styles is called raisu. Also, they refer to America as Bei, "the land of uncooked rice." America can also called Beikoku, depending on how it is used in a sentence. Bei and kome both can refer to uncooked rice.
I think that the normal-typing is supposed to indicate that Zorua and Zoroark are basically housepets who were abandoned by their "owners"; They were at one point adapted to living in human society. As their Dex entry states in Japanese and English; They expired because they could not endure the competition over food with pokémon, nor were they suited to the harsh environment of Hisui.
Which makes you wonder why they went there or where they came from.
Immune to Normal, Fighting, and Ghost with only being weak to Dark. This is everything I've been hoping for.
Fun Fact: Hisuian Zoroark can not just morph into Pokemon but into humans as well. In the post game of PLA with Mai and the massive mass outbreaks there is a request called “Tricky Treat Strategy” This has you give 10 mushroom cakes to “Mai” only to realize that, It was a Zoroark the whole time who was pretending to be Mai.

Don’t mess with Kitsune. On a visit to the Fushimi-Inari Shrine in Kyoto, I bought about 30 Kitsune Omamori (good luck charms) to send out to friends for Christmas.
When I made my purchase, the miko warned me that “This many all together may attract unwanted foxes.” When I got home, strange things started happening; my dog started barking at things that weren’t there, items would go missing and end up in the weirdest places and other incidents.
Finally, I had enough and mailed out all the Omamori a month early and all the strange incidents stopped.
