EPISODE: • Mario Tennis Power Tou...
Mario Power Tennis on Gamecube is a fondly remembered game. Not only was it well-played on Gamecube, but also on Wii, with the New Play Control re-release
Camelot nailed it with this awesome sequel to the Nintendo 64 original.
And likewise, they also thoroughly improved in their sequel to the Gameboy Colour Mario Tennis as well, Mario Tennis: Power Tour.
And whats great about it is that they took the best from the originals, trimmed the slower elements, and added a new gameplay mechanic that keeps things interesting.
Now, are these perfect games? No. But they are fun as heck.

I don't know why I didn't comment on this video 2 months ago, but I just wanna thank you for talking about this underrated Mario game on GBA and its console counterpart, the video was really great. Gotta say, It has been pretty good for me to rediscover Mario Tennis Power Tour this year and the 30 hours I spent playing was worth it, I had so much fun doing matches, playing minigames and talking with the npcs in the story. I really want to make a video about it as well and maybe make it public when hypothetically this game comes to the NSO, which I hope it does.

I was never really into sport games.. but i could get lost in storys. I really felt like i was part of that school. I even integrated it in my pretend play. I felt at home. And since our ripped cooy couldnt save the game after a few years, i found myself playing through the whole game over and over in one sitting. I really loved it. Even though everything after the open island was just not of interest for me though.. thanks for bringing back memorys

@@jelenar1939 It's my pleasure. It's a brilliant game and I wish I played it in my childhood rather than just in adulthood. Seems like the kind of game that I took could get lost in, exploring the academies and characters. Thanks for your lovely comment, and sorry about the save file issues you had.

The GameCube and GBA era of the Mario sports games (mainly Golf and Tennis) was the best. For Power Tennis and Power Tour, the only thing I was disappointed with was the lack of connectivity between the two games. That really helped expand the replayability for Mario Golf 64/GBC, Mario Tennis 64/GBC, and Toadstool/Advance Tour, and it would have been great for these games.

Agreed! There are some connectivity features here and there, but it could have been much better with more.

@@anotherblowncartridge Yeah, Toadstool/Advance Tour did it the best, with progression in each game unlocking more characters/holes in Advance Tour or simply custom clubs in Toadstool Tour. That's why I think that set did it the best.

Story mode on Power Tour makes the game what it is. I personally hope they bring it back through Nintendo Switch Online. My Gameboy doesn't work anymore, and I am dying to play the game again.

I would love to see Power Tour on Switch Online. A whole new generation of players could really absorb the games. Makes sense too now that the GBC Mario sports games are on Switch Online.

power tower was basically a tennis game with Mario barely being in it despite the "Mario" in the title, but it's still a very solid game :))

Mario Tennis: Power Tour - Amazing
    Mario Power Tennis: Absolute garbage
There is a very low skill ceiling in Mario Power Tennis. For the most part, you can pick a Mid/Big/Speed character, camp in the "no man's land" rectangle, and your opponent can't manufacture a wide enough angle to hit it past you. It takes some practice to get used to it, but like I said, low skill ceiling. Also, you can get locked in these net battles that can go on forever, if you let them. Points... absolutely....drag.....out if both players are competent. The game would be phenominal if they simply made the range of angles off of your racket a little bit steeper, but they didn't, so it belongs in a dumpster

This is a really interesting comment, and I respect you for sharing your opinion. Maybe at some point I'll return to Power Tennis and see your points more clearly.
