I remember, years ago, being at school and SO excited to get home to watch your first hypermotard video! Today, my wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary, and we had a get together with our children and grand children to watch this update video. Thanks chopsy 👍
Blinking heck, the lesser spotted Ducati supermotard, a rare beast indeed in the LCR garage (in one piece at any rate)😂 I suppose it takes a while to transfer the old VHS footage of the taking apart onto a digital format!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Only joking, life always has a way of getting in the way of renovations/rebuilds, it is the unwritten 13th basic law of physics🤦♂️ Looking forward to part 2 and the road test, keep on smiling👏👍🇬🇧
You noticed that he dodged answering your question there... I think this will be a much better bike than the KTM he's got..big bore supermoto, whats not to like about that...
Nah, he wants either the new 950SP or 698 mono.. but cant justify the box of bits in the corner so it needs to go back together to pay for a new ducati! #TruthOutLoud 😉
It was this build where I first started watching your channel, I bought a hypermotard not long after, great to see this back! It makes me feel better about my project RS250 that's been sitting I boxes in my shed for the past year 😅
Fabulous episode - looking forward to the end result👍. I am intrigued how these engines are assembled and all of the details that have to be considered.
Thx for this fantastic upload. I sold my Ducati Hypermotard 798 a few years back but this video has reignited my passion for this proper hooligan bike.
Hi john nice to see the hype, is it on the road yet as picked mine up a couple of weeks ago but the weather has stopped me from getting out and running it in so a couple of trips this week as weather improving, then back to Ducati for its first service. of to beachy head, if its ready your welcome to come along. be nice to see the finished hyper in the flesh.
Great to see the Ducati back out Chopsy 👍👍 looking forward to seeing the next part and engine back together mate . Great to watch now we are into the winter .😁👍👍
Not been a follower of your channel for long, I found you through watching usernameKate as she lives local to me. I have just watched this rebuild series all the way through. And like all rebuilds they start of as a quick fettle and end up costing the earth. The value is not to be over looked in the finshed product but the journey of getting there.Chops you`re a very naughty boy and this bike is going to be an absolute gem! Top marks on seeing this through.
I have a Hyper just like it, and also have a 690 SMCR. I prefer the 690 overall, but the Hyper certainly is an experience to ride, and quite a handful as well. And what a beautiful design it is. Work of art.
Great watch can't wait for the next one! It's strangely therapeutic watching a master engine builder at work. Especially knowing my skills are non existent...🤣🤣🤣
Best video not really interested in latest bikes but this is Fab. Excellent guide to shim crank I had a 996 which broke 6th gear. Really struggled with workshop manual but this way is so obvious when you have seen it . Once again excellent.
I feel like the old lady at the end of titanic …. “It’s been 84 years since I last saw her Mr Lovell” 😂😂😂 I feel like I’ve lived a number of lifetimes since I watched you strip the hypermotard ! Well done chopsy
This gives us a glimmer of hope. Completion of this project may actually be possible! We've been hanging in the balance for years. But now we're cautiously optimistic that we'll soon receive emotional closure and no longer need therapy for this unresolved hole in our life. Love you, Chopsy!!! 😆😘
That's interesting about preloaded the crank, just wondering if the thickness or the crankcase gasket makes any difference? Or is it so thin that it doesn't matter? Just curious
Great vid Chops, a very interesting & satisfying watch. I forgot about the Hyper lol! Will be like having a new bike! You should do a first ride review lol. ; )
Just wanted to say I really enjoy watching your videos. I have a question for you and hopefully you can help me out I have a ktm690smc 2010 model had it for over 12 years now 47000 miles and still going strong but sometimes I wish I had 10 more HP or 10 more lbs of torque .I know you have the ktm690smc r and I seen where you review the ktm duke 890r and you really liked it but do you like it over your ktm690smc r? I live in georgia USA And I have lots of mountain roads with lots of curves and a lot of elevation changes, So do you think the 890r would out perform or handle it as well as you 690 r ? Thanks & keep make great youtube videos.
At this stage of the build, a cup of tea was needed to re-access the figures, lightly rub the chin and realise the error. That's what tea is for and why British tanks have a boiling vessel inbuilt. Great content Chops, as others have said, so much better than another bike review.

Brilliant watching a trusted engine builder at work!!
Absolutely 👍

Fantastic Chops, l had almost given up hope ! You better have a permanent spot in the garage for this Hyper, Mate !
At least I have the room for it now! 😁👍

@lov3977 haha, well it all depends how she rides at the end. I'm really hoping this is a keeper and going to be rather special 🙏
It was this build where I first started watching your channel, I bought a hypermotard not long after, great to see this back! It makes me feel better about my project RS250 that's been sitting I boxes in my shed for the past year 😅
These things take time! 🤪👍

Bloody fantastic video, mate! Super interesting, thank you!
Great watch can't wait for the next one! It's strangely therapeutic watching a master engine builder at work. Especially knowing my skills are non existent...🤣🤣🤣
Someday I’ll ride it again ❤
Nelly knows his onions! He'll be finishing our 916 engine soon - cracks in the cases stopped play last time!

That was really interesting Chops.

It’s been a long time coming but well worth it, that guy knows his way around Ducati motors, great stuff. Looking forward to the next instalment!!
Been looking forward to this! Great to see someone tackling a full rebuild. Proves you can do anything if you put your mind to it! 👍
What did I wake up..... What a surprise, great to see the build back chops!
Good things come to those who wait!
I hope this expert is passing on knowledge to an apprentice or similar.this expertese is a priceless commodity 👍
Best video not really interested in latest bikes but this is Fab. Excellent guide to shim crank I had a 996 which broke 6th gear. Really struggled with workshop manual but this way is so obvious when you have seen it . Once again excellent.
Yeah I'm still a little confused 😆👍

Haha very good! 😆👍
Good to see someone repping Navy rugby!
This gives us a glimmer of hope. Completion of this project may actually be possible! We've been hanging in the balance for years. But now we're cautiously optimistic that we'll soon receive emotional closure and no longer need therapy for this unresolved hole in our life. Love you, Chopsy!!! 😆😘
There is hope at the end of the very long tunnel! 😁👍
I loved this Chopsy, haven't worked on a Ducati, so it was very interesting to see what's different to the Japanese bikes I have 👍🙂
Yeah I bet its quite different! They do have their own way of doing things! 😆👍
Good stuff. Great to see it coming together.
Superb vid mate
Well done Mr Chops 🎉 Have you told Mrs Chops yet?! Look forward to seeing how the build goes.
I see the bikes from 2008, pretty sure this build started back then too 😁
Really good to see but really logical……but then face it, we all wanna see the Desmodromic bit😉
Unfortunately Will that is already built by Biggelaar Performance who did the porting sorry 😕
Writing this before watching - FINALLY!!!!!!! 🎉

Glad you like them! 😁👍
Bloody hell the Ducati's back they'll be raising the titanic next 😂
Just about shat myself seeing this vid pop in my feed! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Phoenix rises
Looks very technical. Don't think I'll be attempting this, or anything like it, any time soon.
Wanted a hyper until i rode 2 of them. Both of which decided to break down on the test ride.
Whoops oh dear 😳
Been looking forward to this video.👍🏻
Have been waiting soooooo long:-)) THX!!
That's interesting about preloaded the crank, just wondering if the thickness or the crankcase gasket makes any difference? Or is it so thin that it doesn't matter? Just curious
Good question, apparently its such a thin layer after its torqued down it makes no difference 👍
Good to know
Only the OG remember the Hypermotard! 😂
Finally Ducati coming back! 💪
Oh yes! 💪
Very interesting stuff👍
Great vid Chops, a very interesting & satisfying watch. I forgot about the Hyper lol! Will be like having a new bike! You should do a first ride review lol. ; )

Ducati in its natural element...
What in bits? 😆👍
Thought you were waiting for green plastigauge. The outcome shows you using red? 😮
Yeah... we will.come to that 😁👍
At this stage of the build, a cup of tea was needed to re-access the figures, lightly rub the chin and realise the error. That's what tea is for and why British tanks have a boiling vessel inbuilt.
Great content Chops, as others have said, so much better than another bike review.
Totally baffled, but very interesting. 👍
That's how I felt! 😆👍
Uhul!! I glad it's back!!

Unfortunately not quite yet 😆👍 no dirt bike currently unfortunately 😕
Great stuff Chops & Desmoworks👍 Ducati & their shitty shims left, right & no centre🤦♂️
I thought I was ready to see the Ducati specialist tools again in the intro……..I was wrong.
Finally 😀
😂just like me chops, you like like a rabbit on the headlights. There are limits to our knowledge
Where's the Hypermo.... oh 🤣🤣
