@@fireblast133he definitely snapped, but that’s a very good explanation as to exactly why he’s cooking people. Add combine his ego on top of that which would explain why he didn’t hesitate using his own waitress for his recipe
Great video. I’m glad Dead Rising 2 is getting some love along with Chuck. I like how the protagonists all have a different perspective on the outbreaks they’re in. Frank is witty, Chuck is serious, and Nick is a bit freaked out.
You forgot Dick The Trucker. He was rather casual about it, if I remember. Like, "Damn, I've seen a lot of shit trucking, so this doesn't really phase me."
Chuck’s genuine disappointment with the magicians botched trick is one of the funniest moments in the entire franchise. I always point the scene out to people playing the game with me.
I wish i knew how to use animation rigs. Id so want to make that. Maybe add chuck drinking from the beer hat since you can make it in the maintenance room next door
Off the Record is my favorite version of the game. It's one of the only times the "has been" trope actually worked, in Frank's case. People know and are star struck seeing Frank West. His relationship with Rebecca is alot sweeter, and I love the end game twist more. I mean, a pharmaceutical company agent being a high ranking member of their opposition. The implications of that are extremely compelling
It would mean / imply that all survivors you interact with the main characters are plants from government / organizations. It really did a good job b/c on one hand you save and get a glorified nanny to watch after your daughter. The other you get a reporter partner to help break scopes. Really weird how DR DR2 DR2 OTR and DR case west all imply there can be several endings and timelines that fit.
Lets be real, Chuck Greene is everything every man wants to be. That guy didnt need to act or play tough, he walked into the room and everyone was silent. Plus that shot when he is standing between mutated zombies and doesnt care at all and walks with them to the chamber is chilling to this day. Frank was good, but Chuck pushed it to another level.
DR2 is just so satisfying, even if I was 8 and didn't know anything past case 1-2. Killing the zombies, making combo weapons, levelling up, exploring the secrets, it was just so fun after school.
The adjustments to the ai and shooting mechanics were the small improvements I needed to fall in love. I enjoyed the first one but didn't go back and finish it until I played through 2. It's a prime example of the first game being a solid foundation, and the second game building off of that. I slightly prefer Frank as a protagonist but dead rising off the record exists for a reason lol.
DR2 and the installments / dlc were top shelf Spoilers ahead: I love how in game consoles (idk if it was on PC) you can progress. What you do in case zero is get cash lvl ups and blueprints as well as zombrex and tools. It carries over to DR2 DR case west also carries over i think. OTR idr but i think it did too. They made a ballsey but great choice of using a new character for DR2 as Chuck became iconic as much as Frank. And Frank comes back not once but 2X in dlc and spin off. And yes Rebbeca was supposed to be or felt like a love interest for Chuck. Which also ballsey move to have her killed off. Also how the installments/dlcs make several possibilities but ultimately sullivan and the other pro zombie girl are plants for their own reasons. And ofc combo weapons were awesome as well as the bike upgrades.
I just played Dead Rising 3 recently, I honestly liked it more than 2 (and I haven't played 1), the psycho fights in 2 were agonizing to me due to the controls and health system, but in 3 it was way more doable and I don't remember being annoyed with any of them
Rebecca didn't deserve to die. Rebecca and the protagonist interact the most, the scene is also more, a variety of outside to help the protagonist, is really beautiful. Stacey never leaves the safe house, doesn't advance the plot, looks normal, if you have to die, Stacey should die. Rebecca risked everything, and even if you don't let her be with the main character, you can't kill her. otr inside is also used as a money tool, the plot does not count
That's kind of why she dies, though. It makes you despise Sullivan more, because you grow to like Rebecca a lot. It's kind of like with Carlito and Brad. Definitely wanted him dead after he caused Brad's death in DR1.
Nah 2 definitely was the start of the decline. It wasn't a bad game but somehow it felt a lot cheaper than the prequel (and had a really crap overall story compared to the prequel).
Dead Rising 2 was the first game I played. The gameplay is great and making combo weapons is perfect. One of the flaws I have is the story. It doesn't do much with its other main characters besides Rebecca. Finding zombrex for Katey felt kinda forced. Stacey just stays inside the bunker every scene. She's supposed to be a activist but the game never shows us other than what we see on the news. The evil corporation phenotrans sounds alot like umbrella from resident evil.
I like how for “unforgettable side characters” you chose Cliff. He’s the one that stuck with me the most, and every so often I think about how we don’t get modern depictions of PTSD like a Vietnam vet would have because he was a victim of his own time. Not to downplay today’s PTSD afflicted individuals, but it was a whole different thing back then. I especially like the respect Frank gives Cliff after defeating him
This is the one I played and it is such a great game, specially the co-op. The only bad thing that I can find is that achievement where you need to kill X amount of zombies, but it doesm't stack with each new game
Sure, but only for DR3 or 4. I've seen some of DR3's plot and while it's kind of... idk... asinine writing for Isabella, otherwise from what I remember, it was okay... ...but DR4 is _not._ That needs to go. It's not just a bad Dead Rising game from a gameplay perspective, it's a bad game for characterization and plot, too. Nothing that happened in that game should be salvaged. _Nothing._ Start fresh and the series can continue. If Halloween can ignore Halloween 2 and start over, then a game like Dead Rising can start from DR2 or DR3 and work from there all over again.
Psycho Chuck is far more interesting to me than the vanilla version of Chuck, especially with how 3 didn't handle him that well afterwards. I don't hate Chuck but I would've preferred having an Off The Record sequel that potentially brought Chuck back and further developed him somehow. But yeah nah, given how 3 and 4 went kinda glad it didn't happen I guess. Hoping if we get a remake of dead rising 1 we get something like OTR and then follow up from that.
8:22 You mean helicopter versus toy gun. Best weapon to take down TK's chopper isn't a rifle, or some heavy object like a spotlight... it's a cheap toy gun you can grab from the playhouse store. Does the most damage. Highly recommend.
The only thing i hated was how they have a safe room in their zombie storage island, dedicated to emergencies such as a zombie out break, and seem to have everything needed to survive any emergency, yet there's no stored zombrex
True. Although what kind of shelf life does Zombrex have? Also there's a shortage, hence why the company caused the outbreak to begin with, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was *supposed* to be Zombrex stored there but they chose to embezzle it and sell it off instead.
God I fucking love this game so much. I wanted to play this because it’s cover caught me eye and I spent so much time playing it that I can do a whole run and rescue every survivor, kill every psychopath and complete every case in the game. Love Off the Record as well, but to a slightly lesser extent because of the final boss fight. I’ve never played the first game because it wasn’t on PS3, but I have it. I’m honestly scared to play it because of the time limit and how much stricter it apparently is in comparison to 2.
I don't remember the DR2 final boss fight with TK. The one in Off the Record was great, though, so idk what you mean. You get to do the arena fight for a second time, which is fun, and the game strips you of your gear so you have to be a bit smarter... but honestly, it's a really easy fight because Frank's spin attack *devastates* TK's health. Seriously, just use his spin every time TK gets close and you'll be absolutely fine. Takes like 20% of his health per hit.
Great video and agreed with pretty much everything you said except with you saying DR1 has better music. Heavily disagree with this cause each time I go back to play DR2 and hear the music I feel like I’m being transcended to heaven itself and is super relaxing. Don’t get me wrong I love DR1 music and think it’s great but DR2 to me will always be better.
More than 5 soldiers. You can save like 3 of them right outside after you fight Sgt. Boykin. I assume they all got the shit kicked out of them by zombies, because at least in Off the Record you can see *tons* of destroyed military vehicles all around the park area as you navigate it with the gas everywhere. As well as a few zombie soldiers near them that you can get assault rifles off of.
Off the Record definitely is buggier than the original second game but definitely not as bad as 1 Main reason i play OtR is its dedicated sandbox mode which is alwaus fun to dick around in
I don't know what happened after this game, things just kinda... fell off. I never really had any interest in DR3 and DR4 well... that is better left forgotten. But I liked DR2 and Off the Record was a surprisingly fun remix of the game. Bonus points for letting us still play Chuck if we're playing as the coop partner, too.
I love how they pretty much made frank look like Dan Aykroyd
I’m glad I’m not the only person who saw the resemblance

It would be funniest to just zoom in on Chuck sitting on chair patiently watching only to be disappointed by their trick and then snap on them lol.
Both Frank and Chuck just tend to idly stand by and watch intensely when a female is able to fucking die.
