When you said that you realize that your addiction is within reach, and you have it and can take it whenever you want, and you get this calm feeling, your withdrawal symptoms will go away, I broke down. My husband will always point out that my mood ALWAYS changes when I get the pain pill to stop my withdrawals, before I even took it. I can't believe how relieved I was when I heard that, and how normal it apparently is.

love what you said about how when you finally find the drug and have it in your possession, a calm sweeps over you and almost kills the withdrawal symptoms. so true

Man... took a long time for me to get clean. ..ibogaine. .40 cold turkeys and finally I realized. .. it wasn't the drug.. it was my relationship to reality.

Thank you Ryan, the mind is so powerful. To think we can think our way to sickness or wellness and that many of us choose sickness and its not even a conscious choice. I have begun to deliberately think something positive and say something positive. Its about retraining your brain and its hard to do in the beginning especially when you feel like death.

Exercise, diet/clean eating and meditation is HUGE! Another great powerful post. I'd feel dead tired but force my body and mind to the gym and every time with out question after words I felt reborn. Add and ice bath after exercise and it'll triples that rewarding feeling. Been a practitioner of meditation for over 15 years. Started out 5mins than 10,15,20,30mins to an hour at times. While practicing it's weird, it could be 5 minutes in two 20 but all of sudden your mind just shuts off and you find that peace. Best recovery ritual advice worked for me

I finally got off a 7 year opiate dependency and on my 7th day free I got pancreatitus and spent 5 days in hospital. Was getting massive amounts of narcotics as you can imagine. I was very concerned that when I got out I was going to have to go thru it again but actually very little withdrawl afterwards. Thank God

I'm pretty well versed in meditation. It is so powerfull, but like anything else it takes discipline. I am going to make a video about it soon, just a little history and an intro lesson. It's like a muscle, when you work it, the muscle builds. You can literally feel your mind become stronger. It feels amazing!

Thank you Ryan. The coffee connoisseur is a excellent analogy in relation to our rituals. I was aware of the way water breaks down blood cells, so there's that. Plus I have all sorts of issues related to being an injector. As a plus tho "living happily ever after" is something I am now anxiously looking forward to :)
On the serious side (and to dissuade others from injecting) I want to share and say that I do have medical problems related to being an injector. Most people who inject have some kind of issues because we are not Dr.'s as much as we think we know. My liver enzymes and my white blood cell counts are out of whack. I have numbness and intense pain in my fingers and my hands. On my right hand the tips of my pinky finger, ring finger and middle finger are permanently numb. The problems started small and I thought it was just bad circulation or from falling asleep in a weird position but my Dr. said it's likely nerve damage. I have pain that wakes me up from a dead sleep, it is a intense burning, stinging type of pain which wakes me up numerous time during the night. Consider, too, that I am not totally naive about harm reduction either, in so far as, I thought that I had good "technique." This is the damage I did by injecting into my forearms and hands. That is the truth about what happens when you inject while you are wasted (or not when you are not) and you are just Joe Schmoe...

+livia1881,...oh wow! I thought I was the only one! I had nerve damage too, from injecting in my hand. I must have hit a nerve. Lost ALL movement in my right hand. But somehow, after seeing the Dr., doing some hand therapy/, excercises, taking vitamin B? I think? Regardless, had to drop out of my Dental School n everything! Horrible. But, somehow, someway, like 2-3 months later, I literally woke up, and my hand movement came back! Crazy, scary, shit though! It just goes to show how stupid it is, but how careful n knowledgeable u have to be regarding veins, nerves, and arteries!!!

+Avy Taylor Sorry to hear you had to give up your education as a result, that must be very disappointing - just another example of how we hurt ourselves by injecting. Thanks for the advice. I am hoping the feeling comes back and the numbness goes, goes, goes.
