HGV phone drivers absolutely need to be banned. Shocking.
Agreed - the risk of serious injury with an HGV (and their blind-spots), is increased ten-fold!
No excuses here - He knew the risk & the consequences !
Maybe stronger, e.g. prison, if used on the motorway?
All drivers .
No excuse here, and was that him in anger tooting his horn.? Thank again Mikey. Supposedly he is a professional driver (driving truck), as should taxi, Hackney, van, and the police, and should all fined more than the public.. I too am a hgv driver.
then you know we do get fined more as most firms it's a sackable offence also the escalation to the driving commissioner who can revoke your goods driving licence
That is not acceptable. So so dangerous.
Well done 👍.
Companies spend thousands of pounds making hgvs safe and then put an idiot behind the wheel. Sack him.
Companies should share in the punishments…. They create the culture for these offences
These idiots, like a number of people, can hide well and smile well at first glance, to get through. a number of police officers have gotten through likewise. It's when they hit the frontline, do they pop out.
You can require blind-spot-reducing windows and mirrors, plaster the outside of the vehicle with warning signs, but fail to deal with the biggest problem of all: the nut on the steering wheel. The fact all those other precautions have been taken should permeate the permafrost of the driver's brain to inform him he's driving one of the potentially more dangerous vehicles in London, but no. Was that a honk of defiance too? Difficult to get indisputable evidence in that situation, but definitely needed reporting, just to put a flag against his name.
Well done, Mikey! There''s some free publicity for Ferns Group... hope they appreciate it.
He should lose his job for that!
He should also lose his licence for at least a year😡
@@125brat Make it 3. Might friggin learn then
@@vx.calibre2901 To be honest, I thought so-called "Professional drivers" got something like a £2,000 fine and 6 points automatically, but it's still nowhere near enough. It should be a hefty fine, a substantial ban and loss of job maybe followed by a retest.
@CyclingMikey in the future, when reporting commercial HGVs, you could put a reminder to the Police, that the company is required to conform to their HGV Operators Licence and must know the identity of the driver. If the HGV Transport Manager fails to comply with a s.172, they should be investigated for attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Horrible road as well. Slower road users should get out of the way of faster ones! /s
That's a bit harsh on all the cars holding up the bicycles. But they are holding up the emergency services and disabled people-so maybe you're right
It's crazy how drivers of HGVs will use while in charge of such a large vehicle. I saw a HGV the other day, driving down the road at about 10mph in congestion, must have gone about 20 metres with the driver looking down at a prominent hand-held mobile phone the entire time. Didn't look up once. Sadly for me and luckily for the driver I was a pedestrian and so wasn't running a Gopro.....
Shocking.
Should be automatic ban for HGV.
Big beep.
Well done 👍. Did you notice he also had a driver's side brake light out.
There needs to bigger fines and other punishment like fine the company and sack drivers if you are driving a van to lorry and upwards sizes of vehicles . This one size fits all is wrong.
Maybe prison, if used on the motorway?
He must have been aware from Ferns policy about mobile phones In the cab and also taking his HGV licence is requires excellent skills driving more so than a car licence.
Just get him a seat in the vehicle ahead.....
That footage is not clear enough for prosecution. I am finding Herts Police won't prosecute where there is clear footage of a mobile phone being held if the clip is only a few seconds long and no lit screen visible. Weak policing.
Mikey, if you were a Wimbledon linesman, they wouldn't need to bring in Hawkwye.😊
When I saw the thumbnail, I thought you were telling off the prisoners in the van 🤣🤣
Good effort. Thank you
Mr Ian fern wont be happy
What was that blast on the horn, the "mind your own business" blast?! Utterly appealing. He needs to get sacked, and banned.
He did it again for tomorrow's video. It's the Mini just in front.
I meant appaling!
in 1 year time my Tesla Robots will be driving and Orion meta glasses will be here job done 😂
Why didn’t his passenger tell the driver not to use the phone
He should never be allowed to drive a truck of any kind ever again. Really should know better....
The Traffic Commissioner would have been thrilled.
The companies should have corporate liability
Imagine that tipper going out of control the wight of the thing
While no excuse for any vehicle, the bigger the vehicle the more important that drivinig is with care and attention.
Wish there was a safer route you could take. i worry about all the toxic fumes you are sucking into your lungs.
Deffo a demotion from driver to yard boy
36 seconds into the clip, aren't you technically operating an electronic video recording device whilst in charge of a road going vehicle too?...two wrong dont make a right
It’s not actually against the law as the Highway Code (Rule 149) applies to drivers. Furthermore, it wasn’t handheld (it was mounted to his helmet).
Also, distracted cyclists and distracted HGV drivers have very different risk profiles.
@@ukphillip I was focusing more on the hypocrisy rather than the law....and any variant degrees of risk profiles is still risk...I'm fully behind the Gandolf corner vids...just not the ones where he is concentrating more on looking into drivers laps than on the road ahead
@keithmmccann590 get a life ffs. Have a good think about what you typed, and watch the clup again.
Silly Keith. These two things are not the same.
It's not a device that is capable of sending or receiving data.
In charge of an HGV and breaking the law. This should never happen.
Should know better!!! 🙄
Stop 🛑 making money from these videos
Stay off your phone when driving.
Giving orders on the internet 😏🎻
But why?
Waah waah waah
Cycling Mikey OBE for services to road safety 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍👍
